The original one is full, having reached 1,000 posts shock, so I thought we could start again!

Big debate going on in our house as to how Scruff, who presumably drowned in the flood (was it last Feb) could have got into the silage clamp.

Doesn't Berrow Farm have their silage contracted? In which case which farm did it come from?

How come Scruff didn't end up 'precision chopped?'

Wouldn't Scruff have been well rotted by May when silage is made?

hmm

Nonnie Sat 24-Oct-15 09:30:48

Iam64 you are right but I was looking at this in the context of The Archers having originally started to give information to the farming community and has moved on to cover very many topical issues. I think this is another one which they should cover.

Yes, I will take any opportunity to draw attention to the misconception that it is only men who damage women and children. I did start a thread very recently which referred to a poster in London which gives the impression that only men batter children but, despite me bumping it up, there was very little interest. It seems that people just don't want to know but I suspect if it had been about damaged women it would have run and run.

Fallon , you are more perceptive than Helen's family...... you go girl!

merlotgran Sat 24-Oct-15 14:12:46

Yes. Good for Fallon. At last there are some seeds of doubt.

I don't give her fledgling cafe business much of a chance though hmm

chloe1984 Sat 24-Oct-15 16:32:23

I think the cafe decor will be all stainless steel and leather. Rob will bring in a manager who will turn out to be his other wife who has been unable to have children. They will then set about proving that Helen is unfit to bring up Henry and the baby due to losing her mind ( evidenced by Rob) Rob and wife will then disappear into the sunset with the children. Helen will become a very strange batty lady who is sometimes seen stirring the cheese vat while crying and lamenting her lost life and wondering where it all went wrong. However The villagers of Ambridge will club together and hire a hitman who will push Rob off his horse and he will be savaged to death by the hounds ( a just punishment for Scruff) the children will be returned to Helen and everyone will live happily ever after. But perhaps I am just a little bored this afternoon confused

grumppa Sat 24-Oct-15 16:53:20

Like it, chloe1984!

When is the head of the family (Tony) going to point out to Rob that they cannot afford to pay him what he probably thinks he's worth to manage the shop and it's time he went out and got himself a proper job to support his wife, whom he wants to take it easy?

gulligranny Sat 24-Oct-15 16:54:15

I am so torn between wanting Rob to be found out in all his machinations and thinking that Helen deserves everything she gets ....

And I agree with the previous poster who is worried about darling Ian - Adam is going to break his heart but he will be so much better off and will find someone who deserves him and will actually think about HIS happiness as well as their own.

Luckygirl Sat 24-Oct-15 18:04:21

Yes it is interesting that Adam always seems to have been the dominant partner in his relationship - if he had decided to quit his job then Ian was willing to follow. Come on Ian - show us your muscles!

Iam64 Sat 24-Oct-15 18:30:03

Adam's role model in the fidelity stakes is the marvellous Brian. Piano does deserve a more loyal partner but at least he won't be left bringing up one of the results of Adam's dalliance in the way Jennifer has.

At last, Helen's finally broken down. Unsurprising since he'd isolated her, even from Henry, with his 'considerate' suggestions over breakfast. If ever there was time to challenge him it was when he wouldn't let her show the scan to her parents. I just hope she isn't fragile enough to consider suicide.

Luckygirl Fri 30-Oct-15 19:25:53

Ah - light at the end of the tunnel?

How can she be so passive? - silly lady.

Elrel Fri 30-Oct-15 19:29:24

She seems too scared to challenge Rob in any way.

Alea Fri 30-Oct-15 19:45:31

Run, Helen, run!

Alea Fri 30-Oct-15 19:47:26

She needs to double bluff him/call his bluff, I.e.be equally sweet but turn up at Bridge Farm, the farm shop, whatever, and somehow get to Pat and Tony with that scan pic before him!

merlotgran Fri 30-Oct-15 19:50:31

Thank goodness for Jess. If Fallon gets the push by Rob hopelly they'll join forces.

merlotgran Fri 30-Oct-15 19:54:17

Sorry, I meant Kirsty.

Iam64 Fri 30-Oct-15 20:54:49

I'm to out of the country and unable to listen, these snippets are so tantalising. Merlot, saying Jess rather than kirsty may be a Freudian slip. It seems I'm not alone in wondering when rob somehow fiddled the DNS test

Iam64 Fri 30-Oct-15 20:55:31

DNa. Pr fictive txt or has rob taken control of my ipad

Lilygran Fri 30-Oct-15 22:16:53

Why won't he let her show the scan picture? Rosemary's Baby all over again?

Elrel Sat 31-Oct-15 01:32:59

Incidentally why are some posters so negative about Henry? He's just a little boy, he didn't choose his mother or stepfather (sorry, 'real daddy') and parrots whatever he hears around him. Maybe blooding will put him off hunting and a fracture off rugby - not pursuits he chose but was manipulated into admiring by nob. I may has mispelt a word there.

LullyDully Sat 31-Oct-15 01:51:17

No quite right there !!!!!!

. I did wonder if Kirsty would come in to help. She was there when they first got together. Helen just needs to stand up to him and reclaim h e r territory which she is conceding slowly.

I do understand this is how bullying grows. Horrible man.

starbird Sat 31-Oct-15 12:18:22

I only listen to the omnibus edition so may be behind on some things, but am I the only one to find Ruth's voice irritating, and I want to scream at her to stop making a martyr of herself over her mum's death. I thought the way Heather went was beautiful - she was singing, happy, looking forward to the future. What a way to go, instant and painless. Better than surviving another stroke that would maybe leave her needing even more care, and possibly not being able to communicate at all.
As for Rob, obviously got his eyes on Helen's inheritance, I don't rate her chances once the baby is born! He must be about due to get another girlfriend on the side.

Nelliemoser Sat 31-Oct-15 13:01:21

Chloe1984 I just love your scenarios. grin grin grin

Merlot Is there any evidence it was the remains of Scruff a dead dogs carcass would be well rotted and picked about by magpies and crows etc.

Grumppa has a point right what the hell is Rob living off. The profits of Borchester Blue?
I can't see why Rob is so possessive of this scan photo. Unless it is really an alien.
I don't think Kirsty will let up on her concerns about Helen.

Elrel Sat 31-Oct-15 14:14:28

Starbird- Ohhh, nooooooo!! Never mind happy and singing - in a motorway car park???!!! Ruth minds that most, obviously wanted Heatherpet to expire in the bedroom she'd ousted Jill from!
Happy and singing would be good, IMHO!

merlotgran Sat 31-Oct-15 15:07:53

Nellie, There is no evidence that the doggy remains are Scruff but the scriptwriters obviously want us to assume it is.

Ruth takes the biscuit (literally) She is longing for Jill to come back and take over the domestic chores even though the poor old gal is in her eighties and will soon be needing some care of her own.

Be careful what you wish for.
