The original one is full, having reached 1,000 posts shock, so I thought we could start again!

I don't think Ruth is really wanting Jill back, because she resents the fact that she is still alive and Heather is not.

Luckygirl Sat 31-Oct-15 17:16:22

Oh no - Ruth was talking to Usha yesterday and is wanting Jill back but doesn't know how to ask.

suzied Sat 31-Oct-15 17:25:45

Ruth wants Jill back to help out with all the housework and cooking, but is obv embarrassed about chucking her out . She will come back eventually though you can see that coming. Anyone else a bit bored with Calendar Girls even though theres 2 months to go before the performance? Some of the storylines connected with this are a tad predictable.

grumppa Sat 31-Oct-15 18:13:41

Linda inveigles Roy into helping with the Calendar Girls props; he hands Elizabeth the necessary to preserve her modesty; there is a fumble, and it's game on again between the lovely couple! Oops, I mean the two people, of course.

shysal Sat 31-Oct-15 18:59:34

grumppa grin!

merlotgran Mon 02-Nov-15 19:48:30

Oh No! Poor Clarrie sad

We all know how this is going to end. hmm

Elrel Mon 02-Nov-15 20:03:43

So Helen, having been asked, thought, gave her opinion and was put in solitary. She'll be up in the attic soon, what a vile manipulative bully.

Could Rob actually be a psychopath? Or if his reactions to opposition are genuine rather than simulated, paranoid. Expert thoughts welcomed!!

Luckygirl Mon 02-Nov-15 21:25:03

He's....not......real - honest!

merlotgran Mon 02-Nov-15 21:31:19

grin Luckygirl

If I was Helen I'd be having cookery lessons from Carol.

Nelliemoser Tue 03-Nov-15 12:38:39

He is a classic example of a controlling emotionally abusive man.

His increasingly controlling behaviour is continuing as described in all the domestic abuse text books. Beware the Ambridge bonfire.

The script writers sure have done their homework on this one. 10/10

Yes - it is very revealing for those of us who thankfully know nothing about it. It is v creepy.

Nanabelle Tue 03-Nov-15 18:16:40

oh dear; I think the writers have studied that website. I just can't understand why Helen's mum is not noticing things - she must have found it odd that Helen didn't show her the scan picture and if Rob said Helen was tired, surely Pat would have gone round to see Helen? I wish this storyline would finish soon and why was Rob never called out over hitting the man at the hunt? So many loose ends in the Archers these days.

Iam64 Tue 03-Nov-15 19:15:05

I'm just back after 5 nights away so I need a Big Catch Up.

Nelliemoser is absolutely right, Rob reminds me of so many emotionally abusive, controlling men. The behaviour escalates after marriage and escalates further when the woman gets pregnant. Pregnancy is often the time when physical abuse begins, if that's part of the abusive behaviour. We've already had Rob losing his temper at the hunt and forcing sex on Helen.
I don't see Rob not being 'called out' about the violence at the hunt as a 'lose end'. I suspect Shula will eventually fess up to someone, hopefully Pat . Helen's increasing lack of confidence is also classic in these scenarios. Well done the Archers writing team.

Charlie should sue Rob for slander for starting the rumours about his farming methods, didn't he sign some sort of agreement when he left? It has to all come to a head soon. But why did Jess want him back and why has she accepted the result of the paternity test unless it was correct?

merlotgran Wed 04-Nov-15 09:50:45

I'm concerned about poor Jill not being able to get in the front door at Brookfield thanks to the junk mail building up along with the discarded socks, sweaty T shirts and empty pizza boxes.

Her helpless family will descend on her like a pack of hungry wolves, gobble up the chicken casserole and apple pie then leave her to clear up the mess. hmm

Ruth reminds me of my DD1. Whenever something badly needs doing there's somewhere else she urgently needs to be.....usually three hours away. grin

Anne58 Thu 05-Nov-15 19:08:01

What an absolute monster Rob is! shock

Anne58 Thu 05-Nov-15 19:12:26

And that was posted before the accident!

merlotgran Thu 05-Nov-15 19:22:51

Helen is getting weaker. I dread to think what will happen if the baby is a girl.

Mind you. We would never have allowed one of our kids to go to the start of a bonfire party without us.

merlotgran Wed 11-Nov-15 20:53:42

If Charlie gets the sack and Rob is offered his job will he take it??

How will he be able to control the Farm shop/café, undermine Helen's confidence, keep tabs on her pregnancy, brainwash Henry and convince Pat he's the perfect SIL if he's doing a full time job?

Maybe he'll tell Justin where to stick it.

When is someone going to tell Kenton he didn't need to make a token repayment because Ruth is soon going to be rolling in it?

#Ambridge'snewloanshark

suzied Thu 12-Nov-15 06:36:32

And why was Ruth so sniffy about the suggestion of giving. Oops loaning, Pip,some money?

suzied Thu 12-Nov-15 06:38:11

Robs not interested in applying for jobs now he's got the shop to run( after all Helen won't be up to it will she?)

Luckygirl Thu 12-Nov-15 09:40:00

How is Rob earning actual money from the shop? - that's what puzzles me?

I suspect he will find a way to sabotage Fallon and Emma's bit of it and get them booted out.

Ruth was sniffy because she had not been consulted.

Where did Kenton get the money to pay a bit back to David? - I must have coughed at the moment when this was said.

Charlie and Adam?.........hmm. Ian had better keep an eye on him!

merlotgran Thu 12-Nov-15 17:53:04

Everytime Adam says, 'Ian's doing something special tonight,' the mind boggles shock

Iam64 Thu 12-Nov-15 18:46:43

Is it possible that Rob got a pay off from Charlie in lieu of notice. I'm sure Luckygirl that he'll cause so much stress about Fallon and Emma that somehow their involvement will be sabotaged. Fallon isn't daft though is she, plus she has the lovely PC ? at home. He isn't daft either and maybe that's how the awful Rob will finally be rumbled. Don't want to lower the tone here, but Mr I am commented earlier, linking Rob's controlling and emotionally (physically and sexually) abusive behaviour towards Helen with a couple of truly awful trials that have been reported this week. He wondered whether Rob could undermine Helen to the extent she'd so stuff she never would have previously. What a shocking thought. My own fear is that he'll undermine her to the extent she loses all her self esteem and when something goes wrong with Henry (e.g. at school) she'll take all responsibility. It's a very good story line isn't it.

starbird Thu 12-Nov-15 22:05:20

I think Rob is living off Peggy's gift (£10,000?) to Helen, he's planning to make himself a role as manager of the farm shop. He seems to want to destroy Helen, I'm waiting to see why he was so keen to become Henry's father.
