The usual racket!

At least the UK entry could sing.

soontobe Sat 23-May-15 21:25:13

They werent too bad were they!
I was hoping the main singers would dance a bit more though. But when I saw her heels, I thought there was little chance of that.

The favorite in this household is Sweden so far.
Plus DH liked Belgium but I didnt rate it.

Austria, quite good?

Anya Sat 23-May-15 21:35:12

Not keen on her song, but well done the Polish girl in the wheelchair.

merlotgran Sat 23-May-15 22:13:50

DGD has just put on facebook, 'Isn't it cute that the Australians think this is an actual singing competition? Still, we mustn't mind them....they're new here' grin

soontobe Sat 23-May-15 22:22:25

DH refuses to watch the second half properly. And he has the remote control in the evenings. So I cant comment again until tomorrow!

My favourites are the 3 Italian tenors, but because they can actually sing, the probably don`t stand a chance. Hubby liked them and the Hungary entry.

Maggiemaybe Sat 23-May-15 22:25:08

I think they saved the best till last - I actually liked the Russian and Italian entries. Or perhaps after the previous 2 hours, my critical faculties have upped and left.

petra Sat 23-May-15 22:30:05

I thought our entry was dire. Loved the remark Re the Australians.
I thought Hungary was the best. But we all know who's going to win: my monies on Russia. The eastern block still obey the master.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 23-May-15 22:35:05

I thought it was great. Much better songs too. Liked our entry a lot, but there's some stiff competition. I think I liked the Belgium one best. Or else the chap singing about one thing he should have done.

Anya Sat 23-May-15 22:37:33

That was Cyprus Jingl - call me an old softie, but I liked that one too.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 23-May-15 22:47:17

I do like Conchita.

Ana Sat 23-May-15 22:49:26

Very thin waist though! shock

merlotgran Sat 23-May-15 23:12:43

Come on, Australia.....Nearest we'll get grin

merlotgran Sat 23-May-15 23:21:31

Changed my mind angry

Not one measly point.

Anya Sat 23-May-15 23:52:41

Good result smile

Never saw half of it. My son and his family were here, fortunately, when a girl walked through the front door and into the spare bedroom and went to sleep on the bedsettee!
My son called the police and an ambulance, as we could not wake her up. It turns out she had forgotten where she was supposed to be staying. Only 14, and her parents could not be contacted.
Eurovision was over bar the results by the time the police had decided what to do with her.
Fortunately we had heard the Swedish song, and thought it the best of the ones we had heard.
We thought the British song deserved more than five points.
After they had all left, I locked the door.

Anya Sun 24-May-15 00:15:33

Thankfully you were not alone Jen. What an odd, and disturbing, thing to happen. Poor girl too, anything could have happened to her.

durhamjen Sun 24-May-15 00:28:24

Agreed, Anya. The police said to her that it was lucky she walked into a nice house where the people were concerned for her safety. I do not think she was taking it in, as she was by then sitting shivering on my front lawn while the police were trying to contact a responsible adult. I gave her a blanket to wrap round her, and said she could keep it.

In future I'll lock my front door as soon as it gets dark.

Eloethan Sun 24-May-15 00:43:48

I watched as far as Sweden and was pretty sure that would be the winner so turned over to watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes instead. Bar a couple of "screechers", I thought some of the other entries were OK - better than usual.

Sorry that I didn't hear the Russian one though which, by all accounts, was pretty good.

I think we need to stop making such outdated "bouncy" songs and try to do something of more substance.

What was the rationale behind including Australia?

Eloethan Sun 24-May-15 00:45:13

durhamjen Sorry to hear about the young girl - how sad.

ninathenana Sun 24-May-15 01:35:21

I have better ways too pass the time grin

Not knocking those of you that enjoy it.

soontobe Sun 24-May-15 09:10:09

I dont think that Australia should have been in it.
Imagine if they had one, and took business away from another country.
Couldnt they start up a australasia contest?

ninathenana Sun 24-May-15 09:12:22

Who won ?

soontobe Sun 24-May-15 09:20:47

Sweden

felice Sun 24-May-15 09:30:01

Tottally amazed at the points Belguim got, everyone here thought it was dire. Thats Eurovision I suppose.
My problem was that the music was so loud I could hardly hear the singers, and all the flashing lights gave me a headache.
X had to switch off as he has epilepsy.
I do love it, it is taken quite seriously on the continent.
