New Poldark, trailer
The new series starts on Sunday. I am looking forward to it, but the new actors will take some getting used to! I have the old set on DVD and have watched them recently, which will make it harder still.
Anyone going too view?

ginny Sun 15-Mar-15 23:08:46

Yes, I'm enjoying it. I even put down my crochet for the whole programme !

numberplease Mon 16-Mar-15 00:00:59

Be honest ladies, are you enjoying IT, or, like me, enjoying Aidan Turner?

Coolgran65 Mon 16-Mar-15 03:13:32

Dear old Warren Clarke is always a good bet to be worth watching also.

Leticia Mon 16-Mar-15 07:18:43

Aiden Turner definitely makes it!

PRINTMISS Mon 16-Mar-15 08:06:12

I am finding it very slow, all that galloping across the countryside, know that is the way they travelled in those days, but still finding it very off-putting.

cazthebookworm Mon 16-Mar-15 08:44:03

Yes, I agree PRINTMISS, too much time wasted on those scenes, and a lot of brooding looks which seems to be the norm these days, Elizabeth especially trying to look pensive.

Leticia Mon 16-Mar-15 09:40:08

I could look at Cornish coves and the sea endlessly!

Anya Mon 16-Mar-15 09:46:21

PRINTMISS how can you say that? shock
I'd ride pillion on his pommel any day!

Lona Mon 16-Mar-15 09:56:17

I agree too PRINTMISS it was a bit slow but I love the scenery so I don't mind the galloping about!

Lona Mon 16-Mar-15 09:57:42

Anya grin he's going to need a considerably bigger pommel!!

Jane10 Mon 16-Mar-15 10:04:12

Ha Ha lona! I enjoyed the programme but can't bear watching violence. I had to cover my eyes during that awful fight last week. However, the lovely scenery and music really add to the feeling of being immersed in it. I could almost smell the sea and felt the benefit of a short trip to Cornwall. V cheap holiday!

Mishap Mon 16-Mar-15 11:18:42

How many can he fit on his pommel I wonder? One at a time now ladies!

I am enjoying the programme - I think the way they are developing his relationship with Demelza is very well done. And like leticia I am happy to watch the Cornish coast go by.

Ana Mon 16-Mar-15 11:23:58

Yes, I'm rather warming to Demelza now. It really is a good old-fashioned rollicking tale, isn't it? With good lighting and clear sound!

mrsmopp Mon 16-Mar-15 22:42:56

Demelza looks wrong to me. She was supposed to be a scruffy impish urchin when Ross found her, and this actress does not have the rascally scallywag charm that Angharad Rees had. She is too tall and too old. Not the actress's fault, but she has been mis-cast. Ross is good though. I am enjoying it even though I have fond memories of the original.
Can we have the Onedin Line next please?

Maggiemaybe Tue 17-Mar-15 00:07:23

Oh, yes please! Though a rerun of the original would do for me.

Anniebach Tue 17-Mar-15 15:43:48

I don't see vulnerability in this Demelza and there is sensitivity missing in this Ross, he just looks irritated or angry

numberplease Tue 17-Mar-15 21:45:53

He can irritate me anytime!

Pittcity Mon 23-Mar-15 08:25:13

No mention of last night's episode on here yet?
Is everyone still dreaming of the steamy goings on? Hope it's not just me...

ninathenana Mon 23-Mar-15 08:42:53

I really don't get the fascination with Aiden.

Am enjoying the programme but wouldn't bother recording it if I was out.

Lona Mon 23-Mar-15 08:43:32

Oh yes, it made me envy blush and wish I was young again! grin

PRINTMISS Mon 23-Mar-15 09:16:29

I am very disappointed in this, I think it is very slow - a bit like
Wolfhall, but not all in the dark! Personally, I think it lacks any passion!

merlotgran Mon 23-Mar-15 09:59:04

DD says it's lovely to watch a romantic story with the two teenage DGDs without the embarrassment of graphic sex scenes. So much nicer to leave most of it to the imagination and sexier too IMHO.

The birth scenes were behind closed doors as well.

Thank you BBC for some good taste even after the watershed....at last!!

tanith Mon 23-Mar-15 10:17:08

I'm enjoying it but I do think the scene of Ross with his extremely tanned and honed muscles on show scything the fields was just so wrong, he looked like he'd just stepped out of a fashion shoot and had been over tanned and oiled to beyond perfection.

Lona Mon 23-Mar-15 10:36:55

I agree merlot, it's not his body I like, it's the romance, although it was a very quick wedding! grin

ginny Mon 23-Mar-15 12:00:31

Merlot I agree. we all know what will be going on. We don't need to see all the graphic details.
