Strictly - shall you?

Juts read the article in RT (in Smiths don't buy it) re Strictly Come Dancing and it looks dire - no Brucie and a guest list of no-one I have ever heard of except that coarse fruit and veg man and Andy Murray's sour faced mother.
I suppose I will get sucked in but I think its a record and wiz through job now - I like watching the professional dancers but can't stand the rubbish that Tess talks.
Will you be watching?

I still can't believe the standard this year, it's so good.

There are so many runners but I do like Alison, she just accepts she is a big lass and won't probably win but she comes out smiling and enjoys every minute but she actually delivers the goods.

annodomini Sat 04-Oct-14 22:55:18

There seems to be a tremendous spirit among the competitors and professionals. They might get more competitive as time goes on. I fear that Judy may be out tomorrow night. She is incredibly stiff.

Lona Sat 04-Oct-14 23:42:11

I think Tess and Claudia seemed much more relaxed tonight. Claudia is so funny, especially wearing that Carmen Miranda hat!
Jake was fantastic and his partner is amazingly supple, and I can't wait to see the back of Greg.

It all seem to be more of a party this year and more friendly. I loved Claudia's hat too - where can I get one?
Lots of people who could come off and who will never I fear make a dancer- I suppose it comes down to public support. in previous years people who cant dance have gone quite a long way. I agree with you lona I think Greg should go - all that sticking his face in a cake is horrible and he has no rhythm but thinks he's funny - not!! Judy looks as though every moment is agony perhaps she wants to go.

There seems to be such a clear division between the brilliant ones and the no hopers! Surely Judy will be out tonight? However, you never can tell as, especially in the early days, it can just be a popularity contest. How humiliating to first voted off though!!!

henetha Sun 05-Oct-14 11:14:47

Whether or not Judy can dance, she certainly has an enviable figure, doesn't she. If she could only relax she might be an o.k. dancer.
I thought Strictly was really enjoyable last night.

sparkygran Sun 05-Oct-14 12:35:16

Really enjoyed Strictly tonight Claudia I think is brilliant even the way she had to keep on giving out those boring phone/text numbers became just about bearable with her wit. Relax, Judy, relax.

Charleygirl Sun 05-Oct-14 13:26:00

I would be happy to see Greg go tonight. Sticking his nose in the cake for me, was the last straw.

I agree, Judy's figure is fabulous- if she could only relax- Anton is doing everything he can but I do not think that it will be enough.

Jake's dancing was breathtaking, I am assuming that was very unexpected. I did not know who he was until last week.

HollyDaze Sun 05-Oct-14 13:43:36

I also hope Greg goes and I agree with the other comments about sticking his face in cakes - how old is he! He just isn't funny and someone really needs to tell him that.

I hope Judy doesn't go just yet, it might just be nerves and she's received a bit of a negative response and I'd love her turn it around.

I thought there was an over-reation about Jake - he is good but he's far from being brilliant (yet!).

I loved Pixie's waltz but it's obvious she could already dance so that, for me, makes it a bit unfair.

HollyDaze Sun 05-Oct-14 13:45:11

Will any of you be hoping you are nominated to join in the public version of SCD?

Just say if you did, what dance would you choose to do (that you think would suit you or that you would do well)?

I would choose the Charleston (suits my personality) but my favourite dance is the Vienesse Waltz (but doubt I'd be good at that).

chloe1984 Sun 05-Oct-14 14:23:31

I would choose to dance the American smooth with Anton. However I would expect my gown to be of chiffon with layers of crystal beads that enhance my graceful movements. I would also expect my gown to make me appear to be a size 6/8. After make up I would also look at least twenty years younger with absolutely no grey in my suddenly luxuriant curly tresses.wink

HollyDaze Sun 05-Oct-14 15:46:47

grin

Gagagran Sun 05-Oct-14 16:13:08

I'll book Anton after you chloe but we will be dancing the slow foxtrot and everyone will think it' s Fred and Ginger come to life. I shall have a magic gown too and my hair and make-up will add to the illusion. Oh bliss! wink

ninathenana Sun 05-Oct-14 16:22:40

Greg or Judy to go ?

No please, Scott has to go.

ninathenana Sun 05-Oct-14 16:25:43

I'd love to do a salsa, don't know who with. I'd definitely need the magic dress !! grin

ginny Sun 05-Oct-14 17:09:09

Enjoyed it all so much more without Bruce. Greg to go this week, he really irritates me. Next to go should be Judy unless she improves dramatically next week. Dare I say we can see where her son gets his 'sparkling' personality from ? Plenty of budding talent to keep us entertained.

numberplease Sun 05-Oct-14 18:02:28

Judy seems to be a lovely lady, unlike her eldest son, but it`s looking like her and Greg for the dance off, but it`s Greg I want to see the back of. How any of them could even TRY that cake after he`d stuck his face into it, I`ll never know, YUCK!!

Lona Sun 05-Oct-14 20:07:48

Well, thank goodness Greg's gone, I think maybe Scott should be next.

I have a sneaky feeling that Claudia is going to take over the show wink

papaoscar Sun 05-Oct-14 20:19:21

One ego down, who's next for the chop?

Charleygirl Sun 05-Oct-14 20:30:49

I did not think so last week or yesterday but Scott is now top of my list- I find him mildly irritating. Also he cannot dance.

annodomini Sun 05-Oct-14 21:29:59

Argentine tango with Pasha! wink

gillybob Sun 05-Oct-14 22:41:49

I really thought Judy should have been the one to go tonight although her and Greg were equally terrible (at least Greg had a sense of humor/humility about it). I think the only thing that saved her was the fact that Anton is her partner . It was like watching a stick dancing!

numberplease Sun 05-Oct-14 23:31:08

I was so pleased to see the back of Greg, thankfully it was him, because no way did Jennifer deserve to be in the dance off, over Judy or Scott. I also find Steve Backshall mildly irritating.

merlotgran Sun 05-Oct-14 23:40:07

I thought Judy was worse than Greg. It would be nice to see Jennifer improve and stay on for longer.

papaoscar Mon 06-Oct-14 06:57:34

The trouble is that the dancing is now secondary to all the glitz and spectacle, and some of these sad creatures are certainly making a complete spectacle of themselves. Poor old Greg has been shown up for what he is - a loud-mouthed windbag with two left-feet and a big belly. Judy could be next out, she has all the grace and dancing ability of a tailor's dummy. The hyperbolic nature of the so-called judges comments and conduct doesn't help either and the pouting presenters fawning over each other and the competitors is sickening. I also notice that the audience is stuffed full of media luvvies and assorted hangers-on. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers must be laughing out loud up on their clouds in dancing heaven, and even Sir Brucie must be feeling very smug. I love it all, keep it up!
