When I said (orioginal post) "It's worse than Gransnet", I meant all the arguing that's been going on. The Masoods had a right old shouting match on, I think, Monday.
When I was still working, I devised a module for my Access students called 'Soaps and Society' which gave them - and me - a perfect excuse for watching them. However, once I retired, I'd had more than enough of Eastenders. Nothing good ever seemed to happen to anyone and there wasn't much humour left in it. I still miss Brookside though.
Another mention of arguments taking place on GN - are these really arguments or just heated discussions? [I always think of the Monty Python sketch - 'is this a 5 minute argument or the full 15 minutes?'] People will disagree, that's what makes us human and interesting. As long as there are no personal or abusive comments are some people just being a bit sensitive. Gosh my family loves an argument - one early memory is sitting at the Sunday lunch with my parents and grandparents arguing and laughing. Mind you we do have a strong Irish inheritage.
Very emotional episode tonight, I was in tears with them! Much as I love Masood, I can`t see how the family will survive in Eastenders without Zainab, she was the kingpin of the family. There`s only Masood and Tamwar left, unless you count his daft brother, I`m hoping that he won`t be staying very long.
I watched for many years. I liked this family but why on earth do Eastenders script writers have to destroy most of their characters. Yes bad stuff happens to people but not on the overegged melodramatic way in does in East Enders.
I stopped watching about two years ago because I just began to hate the constant barrage of the same stories of doom and gloom going around in a loop with totally unrealistic scenarios.
I will stick to Ambridge! There is rather more humour a lot less melodrama.
Yes to Massood is lovely and I liked Zainab. I was aware of her fling with a former husband? which ended in disaster and the couple seemed to reconcile. Can anyone tell me briefly what led to the final breaking point?
He was killed in a fire wasn't he? (the former lover (who was a doctor)). And Tamwar got burnt because he thought his young wife was inside and went to rescue her. She wasn't actually inside so Tamwar nearly died for no reason. It was Zainab's fault because she let everyone believe no one was inside. Because the now hated lover was inside and she didn't want him rescued. She didn't know Tamwar was in there.
