We discuss our families on here - light hearted and otherwise. Is anyone else enjoying this excellent drama?

Having been alerted to this prog by GN I gave it a whirl a few days ago and got hooked. Today watched all four episodes. Fantastic!

Good acting, interesting storyline, I even like Sarah Lancashire.

Yes, it's a surprisingly unsympathetic part she's playing though, for a change - I think the acting is superb and just shows what the BBC can produce when they get their act together!

I'm really enjoying Last Tango in Halifax. I hope it has a happy conclusion though, no deaths please. Also hope Sarah Lancashire offloads her useless husband.

Thoroughly enjoying this, had to "catch up" with the first few episodes and now eagerly waiting to see what happens next. Loved the spat between the two daughters when they met for the first time in the pub each going to collect their parent.
So nice that it's BBC with no advert interruptions too

I am really enjoying it.

I was convinced this was going to end in tears - and it did, but of a slightly different sort. Is there enough material for a second series? hmm

merlotgran Wed 19-Dec-12 22:26:45

I'm sure there will be, gracesmum. I'm looking forward to it.

Hmm - I've loved the series, but I do think it might have been better as a one-off. This last episode ended rather feebly, I felt - and what was all that about her being a Daily Mail reader - shock horror!! Trust the BBC to get a sly dig in....

Hurray! all is well! and coming back next year. Can't wait!

I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the second series.

Of course she'd read the DM!! But yes , I loved it - I lived in Halifax as a child. Gillian was great and much of the dialogue had me in stitches - just hope the second series doesn't disappoint

Although a story so much of it was true, wasn't it? The acting was excellent, and I can actually remember the names (not professional) of most of the cast, which is very unusual for me, so it obviously held my attention. I am not sure if there is enough substance for another series or if it will be as good, but I shall watch if I can.

I loved it! I think all the actors played well - especially Anne Reid. Her portrayal of the shocked and disappointed, let-down mother was brilliant. Looking forward to the next series, but I think it might be a hard act to follow, this one having been so good.

Just watched the final episode on iplayer - there was some truly splendid acting - very impressive.

Watched the final 2 episodes last night and spent nearly all of the programme with tears in my eyes. When they were jiving in the house it just reminded me of me and my hubby as this is what we do when there is nothing on the tv and we put the music on and chat. Also the part when she fell out with her daughter and how stubbern she was, that was also me and my daughter on occasions when we don't agree. I come from around these parts and as I know its Sally Wainwrights mums story I knew he wouldn't die but still it was a lovely ending and

Nanado Thu 20-Dec-12 20:10:09 cut and pasted from wrong thread!!

Yes, misunder I've watched every episode. Wonderful script and loved the humour eg beaten up gigolo / toy boy cluttering up the living room. Excellent performance from all the actors. Believe there's a one off follow up in the New Year.

Ana Thu 20-Dec-12 20:45:25

Nanado there's a new series planned - see previous posts! Not sure whether they can match the first one, though...

Wonderful news. Thanks Ana I got confused with threads and posted my reply on another so haven't read all this one. Is it me?
