We discuss our families on here - light hearted and otherwise. Is anyone else enjoying this excellent drama?

Ana Tue 27-Nov-12 22:10:45

I watched last week's episode but thought it was a one-off - was surprised when it turned out it wasn't! Have recorded tonight's so can't discuss it yet!

merlotgran Tue 27-Nov-12 22:17:29

OK Ana I won't give anything away but the acting is brilliant.

I saw the last 20 minutes. I was behind and watching on catch-up.

I can't stand that woman who used to be Raquel in Corrie. She always plays the same character.

I don't think I will bother tbh.

BlueSky Tue 27-Nov-12 22:19:52

Watched it tonight first time, quite good, nearly didn't watch it again as the title suggested a comedy rather than a drama confused

jO5 Tue 27-Nov-12 22:21:07

And that other woman. The one who was the older mother/grandmother. She's always the same person.

Sorry.

Grannyknot Tue 27-Nov-12 22:21:28

OH (who at first joined in reluctantly) and I are enjoying it. I missed the first half of the first episode so also need to visit 'catch up'. Great cast!

Ana Tue 27-Nov-12 22:21:55

Yes, it was advertised as a comedy - it's not really, is it? I love Ann Reid in whatever she does.

jO5 Tue 27-Nov-12 22:22:08

It's one of those things where it can't make up its mind if it is comedy or serious. hmm

merlotgran Tue 27-Nov-12 22:23:23

I don't like Sarah Lancashire's character either, jingle but I'd kill for that house.

jO5 Tue 27-Nov-12 22:23:25

Oh yes - Anne Reid.

Can't stand her. Another Corrie has been.

jO5 Tue 27-Nov-12 22:24:07

Yes. The house.

But I can't drive. Wouldn't do for me.

sad

jO5 Tue 27-Nov-12 22:24:45

Holby was magnificent though. As usual.

Love Jac.

Seamist Wed 28-Nov-12 15:54:28

Yes, my hubby and I are greatly enjoying it. I wonder what will happen next, I think it's going to get very complicated!

janeainsworth Wed 28-Nov-12 16:06:17

jO5 Real life is part comedy part serious, isn't it?

BAnanas Wed 28-Nov-12 16:13:20

I'm liking this drama a lot, both Anne Reid and Derek Jacobi very good in it.

Marelli Wed 28-Nov-12 16:38:10

Really like it. Liked it when she smacked her SiL over the chops as well. winksmile

Learnergran Wed 28-Nov-12 17:34:24

Love this. Looked forward to the the first episode, given the cast, really enjoyed it and wasn't disappointed with the second. Why aren't there more programmes like this any more? confused

numberplease Wed 28-Nov-12 18:02:38

Started watching the first one, gave up after half an hour, wasn`t enjoying it as much as I expected to.

artygran Wed 28-Nov-12 18:03:10

We are thoroughly enjoying this - it is very well cast. And what a treat to see Derek Jacobi in anything; he is wonderful. I've seen him on stage a couple of times. He said he was pleased to be offered the part because he doesn't get to play ordinary people very often - because of his theatrical stature, they think he'll turn them down! Ann Reid has a way with dry humour and is always worth watching. I hope it will not end the way I suspect it will.

Grannylin Wed 28-Nov-12 18:27:49

I watched it then watched Fresh Meat and that was much funnier.Couldn't decide which of the two programmes contained the most stereotypes though.

Love all these actors especially Derek Jacobi and Ann Reid. Fabulous

Ana Sat 08-Dec-12 13:08:49

I think it's getting better by the week - the only one who doesn't ring true is the SIL. It's quite touching the way the two oldies are doggedly going ahead with their wedding plans despite all the chaos going on in their children's lives.

flump Sat 08-Dec-12 14:21:44

I haven't started watching this yet, but will because of Anne Reid and Derek Jacobi. jO5 Anne Reid left Corrie decades ago and has acted in many other things since then, so definately not a has-been!

Good innit? Always liked Derek Jacobi since I Claudius days.
