We have become hooked on Homeland on Channel 4, with Damian Lewis. It's on opposite Upstairs Downstairs.
It has won a whole heap of awards and is gripping. Was he 'turned' whilst being incarcerated for 8 years or not?
What do you think?

Oh yes have seen the first two and the third recorded probably to watch early this evening. Can't watch it on Sundays as I always fall asleep and miss important things.

bakergran Tue 06-Mar-12 17:30:54

Ooh no I think he's much to yummy to have been 'turned'...

I too am hooked. I think Claire Danes is fantastic in it. Can't wait for the next one!

I think it's a great series so far, but I find Damien Lewis slightly creepy in this. Always liked him before so he must be a good actor. wink

I think 'creepy' is why he was chosen for the role and being British also helped. It certainly keeps you guessing, especially as Claire Danes character is psychotic, so there is always a question mark over her assumptions. The original series came from Israel, which is being shown shortly on Sky or Chanel 4. Can't remember which. Anyway I am enjoying it.

I still am not sure whether he has been turned,he showed a nasty streak last night with shooting the deer, it's a really good thriller, both Damien Lewis and Claire Danes are excellent in their roles.
Still another 8 episodes to decide!

Still gripped by this series. Damien Lewis is getting increasingly creepy and I still can't tell if he's been turned or not!
Great stuff!

susiecb Mon 26-Mar-12 10:02:22

cant make my mind up has or hasnt he and what would be the point he's only a sergeant doesnt seem to have access to secrets or equipment in fact he doesn't seem to be doing any work of any kind except wearing absurdly well pressed shirts! Why did Claire Danes have sex with him - is it part of her plan or is she out of control?

glammanana Tue 27-Mar-12 14:42:10

I caught up last night and still not sure if he has been turned but the story line is brilliant and have thoughts as to who it may be who is the traitor(shhh)probably wrong.I like all Damien Lewis' work and susie I would press his shirts anyday grin

I am beginning to think it maybe Saul who is the bad guy, changed my mind from Damien Lewis. I gather there is to be a second series so we may not find out.....
Intriguing.

nanachrissy Tue 27-Mar-12 19:14:50

I think Saul looked a bit too obvious but hey what do I know? I also think in real life,if someone had been tortured for 8 years wouldn't they have him in therapy, with some sort of psychological debrief?
Have I missed that bit? confused

glammanana Wed 28-Mar-12 09:09:38

nanachrissy I was looking down the idea is may be Saul or his partner ? are we super sluthes or what? Debrief take place normally when they return I think in real life but they may have skipped that part, but you have to remember that Americans are super tough ? they are the ones that get you lost when on patrol according to DS2 !!!

Well the plot thickens girls what a good episode last night put story on a totally differant track all together.

nanachrissy Mon 02-Apr-12 20:16:13

Wow! Just caught up with last nights episode, and it was a corker.
I went from disliking him (DL) to liking him and feeling sorry for him!
Just don't know what to believe now.confused

janthea Tue 03-Apr-12 11:43:25

Love this programme. My son-in-law plays football with Damien Lewis when he's in the UK (Damien Lewis, not my son-in-law!) grin

nanachrissy Mon 09-Apr-12 20:42:53

Well I'm still loving this series. Last night everything seemed to change, and just when I really believed that he was innocent, wham bam he is the baddy again!
smile

Ganja Mon 30-Apr-12 08:13:29

Surely Damien Lewis has to be the baddy, the Brits are always the villains in American productions.

nanachrissy Mon 30-Apr-12 08:56:56

Aniother brilliant episode last night! Clare Danes is an excellent actress.
After seeing Damien on HGNFY I keep expecting him to come out with a one liner! grin

MaggieP Mon 30-Apr-12 11:17:42

I thought maybe Brody will blow up at the end of this series but son thinks he will get further into Politics and so enable Brody to film the second series.
It was gripping last night, with only one more episode, Sunday nights won't be the same!
(we are also hooked onto ' The Bridge' maybe another thread for that?!)

MaggieP Mon 07-May-12 09:25:25

Well, what an excellently acted finale and leaves door wide open for second series. We have really enjoyed our Sunday night viewing for the last twelve weeks. Claire Danes performance was impressive and Damien just carries on being good too.
What did you think?

moomin Mon 07-May-12 09:37:27

Could hardly bear to watch Homeland last night, so tense! The final episode leaving the way clear for the next series which I believe Channel 4 has secured in the future. I've thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through.

Loving The Bridge too, but will be on holiday when the finale shows - I knew we should have invested in Sky+ wink

glammanana Mon 07-May-12 11:29:36

What an ending and a door open for the next series I can't wait !! just hope Channel 4 does go ahead with the next series and it is no sold to another Channel as Mad Men was.

nanachrissy Mon 07-May-12 11:54:42

I thought that last night was a great finale, and I can't wait for the next series. Really good acting all the way through.

Humbertbear Mon 07-May-12 18:40:22

My mother told me the finale was fabulous and she hadnt watched any of the previous episodes! What do we watch while we wait for Series 2? I think Homeland was one of the best things on TV For a long time. Tihink we are going to get out The West Wing box and work our way through that. Is anyone watching Smash?

glitabo Thu 04-Oct-12 20:07:49

Homeland series 2 starts on Sunday on channel 4. grin So I shall record both that and Downton Abbey at the same time. Not too much of an overlap there.
