Well I have officially joined the big knicker brigade. I never thought I would but needs must, and I got fed up of constantly putting my hands down my trousers to haul up my briefs blush.
Anyway I did a bit of research, and found some on Amazon with great reviews...and I'm converted ladies. These are made from a good quality cotton (quite thick) with a little lycra for comfort, also with a very deep 2 inch waistband.
They were £18.99 plus postage for a 4 pack. I love them, so just wanted to share with you ?. Now everyone knows what underwear I will have on...oops blush

I also had bottle green knickers with a pocket at school, used the pocket for hiding food from school dinners which were foul, my mother used to moan about trying to get congealed butter beans out of the pocket?was at a school where you had to clear your plate or sit and look at it till the bell went!

I used the pocket to hide bubble gum, sneaked in to us by the ‘day girls’...until I was caught by Matron as it glued up in the laundry ! ?

I'm reminded of Terry Wogan and directoire knickers.
I just googled retro knickers with pockets but I came to what looked like quite a 'niche' site selling them. blush

Been wearing sloggis for years. Comfort is important. Matching underwear doesnt always work.
If trousers are pale and top is dark then I wear light colour pants and dark bra.

I bought a couple of 'comfy' pairs from M&S thinking they would be comfortable to travel in but then decided I didn't want to wear them to go out anywhere so they are consigned to the back of the drawer.

Do you like to show off your playful personality Gonegirl? grin
these women's knickers are a great way to bulk up your drawer
Not as much as the awful ones I bought

Who writes this stuff?

I like pretty underwear in nice colours and with lace trims – and since my teens I have like my bra and knickers to match. Nobody apart from me and occasionally absentdaughter or the doctor sees me in it, so the fact that I have massive surgical scars on my abdomen is just my business.

I swear by Sloggi knickers, they are so comfy and last forever.

They are big but cotton. I discovered them about 30 years ago ?

LullyDully Mon 15-Jul-19 08:02:35

notagran and auntieflo ? Abernethies? Hounslow? Yes! Green School Isleworth knickers. ?

Auntieflo Mon 15-Jul-19 08:23:51

That's the one Lully

Auntieflo Mon 15-Jul-19 08:30:16

I'm just wondering whether the fact that I wore such all enveloping knickers at school, is why I now like the comfort of the "all is gathered in" type.
(or is it the fact that my behind will no longer fit into the skimpies)?

GabriellaG54 Mon 15-Jul-19 10:43:56

I like Sloggi hi-leg midi white.. but if vpl is going to be an issue then I trawl M&S.
As another poster mentioned, I too wear nude, blush or white bras under light coloured tops but darker ones under dark tops so knickers don't always match.
Anyway, my pants get washed after every wear but bras not so often. That means I can't always wear the matching set.
Most men actually prefer women to wear white knickers, no thongs, despite what they allegedly say in polls.

Bijou Mon 15-Jul-19 10:44:02

I am another Sloggi fan. They last so long.

Nanniejc1 Mon 15-Jul-19 10:50:11

I have always bought my knickers from M&S & have gradually over the years moved on from bikini to midis,I find them comfortable & they do some with lace on too.

Blinko Mon 15-Jul-19 10:53:57

Midis for me, black white and nude. For all eventualities. Not that there are many of those nowadays...

MissAdventure Mon 15-Jul-19 10:58:28

I am always staggered to see my DD's washing line with her dental floss knickers. Apparently her man does like them but each to their own grin

Davida1968 Mon 15-Jul-19 11:01:40

Wasn't there a thread about "knickers", not that long ago ago? I stated then that I am an advocate of "Bridget Jones' big knickers" - I think that Sloggis are very good. And in my experience, most men really don't care what knickers you wear..... (DH agrees!)

sandelf Mon 15-Jul-19 11:03:04

OMG - I thought that was only me. People look at me strange when I tell them I did that - in the' 60s no less! (Waterloo Park Grammar School for Girls)

Aepgirl Mon 15-Jul-19 11:08:15

We had knickers with pockets because we wore them for PE and needed a hanky.

MissAdventure Mon 15-Jul-19 11:11:12

It just seems really strange nowadays, and yet its not so long ago.

seadragon Mon 15-Jul-19 11:11:29

Never really left the big pants brigade and hate 'low rise' trousers.

Nanny41 Mon 15-Jul-19 11:14:43

I have bought my high leg briefs from Victorias Secret for years, they suit me, are very comfortable and come in all sorts of lovely colours they have a huge assortment,I always buy on offer when you get five pairs for I think £25, they wear well and last for ages.

Missiseff Mon 15-Jul-19 11:16:35

Nope. No way. Not ever!

Jumbo1 Mon 15-Jul-19 11:24:32

I found them too! Fabulous big knickers made in part from Bamboo.
Silky and comfy. I ordered down a size
and bought more. I have stocked up
so that, as they say in Yorkshire “these will see me out” ( won’t need to buy any more before I turn up my toes)
OMG that I should ever come to this!!

MissAdventure Mon 15-Jul-19 11:25:43

I remember my daughter as a tiny girl, crying bitterly that she wanted to wear "big bum knickers" when I had put out a bikini style for her to wear.
