Taking example from those two exemplary examples of Scottish etiquette, Russ Abbot and Rab C. Nesbit, I would, if invited to a Burn's Night Supper, turn up sporting a large black Tam O'Shanter, huge orange beard, string vest and vast kilt. I'm sure the bard would have approved. In a parody of the words of that other fine example of Scottish bardery, the Great MacGonagle, I offer the following Burn's Night Toast:

Dip your spoons, Dears, in this sea of tears
And toss that dross out with your fears
For tonight we toast the good old ways
Until we burst clean thru' our stays!

Galen the eight pupils of our local village school treated us to an early Burns lunch just the other day. Haggis, neaps and tatties and, for pudding we had Cranach. It was delicious. They also wrote humorous poems "in the style of Burns"...I liked the one 'To a wellie' and one 'To a teapot' very much.

"Oh on the night when we remember the greatest Scottish bard
It is a pleesure to welcome some whose journey might have been hard
And it would take the wind right out of my sails
If I did not recognise the presence of our friend from Wales
Which is a land of melody and song
So when the singing starts she is unlikely to go wrong
And as to dancing show a clean pair of heels
When performing Strip The Willow or the Eightsome reels
Her skirt is not of our Scottish plaid
But of Welsh woollen is it made
She is young and braw and might get frisky
When partaking of our finest whisky
So raise your glasses one and all
To Grannies from all the corners of our beautiful Unitd Kingdom whether England, Ireland Scotland or Wales

Part of my reply for the lassies (heavily plagiarised from an unidentified source!) at our Rotary Burns' night last Wednesday (impeccably organised by Theseus). I did include some Burns too!

I have an over the shoulder plaid in Gordon tartan, which is T's family tartan. When he retired, his PA organised his retirement party, on a boat up and down the Thames, with a piper and with every table draped in Gordon tartan. I have masses of the stuff!
