It took 18 years and 7 Prime Ministers but the world's longest coastal path is due to be inaugurated today.
It stretches over 2,689 miles through some of the most beautiful scenery in England. Improvements have been made to the miles of paths that already existed with an extra 1.000 miles added. Access has been made easier for those with mobility issues. There are 2 places where ramblers will have to confront water; the River Mersey by ferry and paddling either side of low tide across the River Erme in South Devon.
So heartening to hear of money being spent on such a project.
