I am being facetious.

Cossy Thu 15-Oct-26 21:42:33

It’s shocking! 😱😱 (So am I!)

Grannybags Thu 15-Oct-26 21:49:14

I hadn’t noticed! 😂

Maremia Thu 15-Oct-26 22:16:49

Surely they must now lose more of their support.

nanna8 Thu 15-Oct-26 23:35:06

I wouldn’t worry - as soon as Starmer went, so did they. Only a little bit slower.

Chestnut Fri 16-Oct-26 00:04:50

Just to get things in perspective, any party that swings to the right or the left is going to attract extremists. On the left we've seen it in the Labour Party and now we're seeing it in the Green Party who have been hi-jacked by Polanski & Co.

It's going to happen. These people want a wagon to hitch their horses to, and the only way to control this is to identify and remove them. I'm not sure if the Greens can manage this, their party has been well and truly taken over. I hope Reform can get a grip before they too are taken over.

It's my belief that we need parties on the left and the right for balance. In neither case do we want extremists who will take things too far.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 16-Oct-26 03:11:34

It isn’t a question of Reform being taken over. They were racist from the start, that is why they have attracted all the dregs.

Dickens Fri 16-Oct-26 04:20:31

... since you're either up late - or risen early grin - I'll dive in (I'm up early me-self).

I've found Reform supporters/voters a bit of a mixed bag. I was, a while back, in hospital for a tad longer than I'd have liked and shared a bay with an elderly woman who was a Brexit-voting, Farage-'approving' lady. This particular hospital had many immigrant staff both medical and non-medical. She was kindness itself to one middle-aged Polish lady whose mobile battery was on 1% with no charger; she toddled around on her walker in and out of the bays trying to find a suitable plug for the woman who she felt sorry for because, as she said, it must be horrible being stuck in bed among people whose language you didn't understand being unable to talk to your family; she joked with the staff who brought around the tea-trolley and flirted with the male Nigerian nurse when he was on shift. She bought the Daily Mail when printed newspapers (pre-Covid) were on sale, yet during our fragmented discussions on Brexit never once used the word 'Remoaners'... I doubt she was unique, I suspect there are others like her. A bit of an enigma really, she was just a rather nice old lady who instinctively felt compassion for the 'other'.

So I'd hesitate to tar all 'Reformists' with the same brush.

nanna8 Fri 16-Oct-26 04:47:17

I don’t think people should be described as ‘dregs’ It is worse than being called racist.

Margs Fri 16-Oct-26 05:05:12

It's almost difficult to work out if Reform are bigger racists than mysoginists or more mysoginistic than they are racist.

I suppose it comes down to tossing one of Nigel's Bitcoins.

Oh I find an apt description of all the councillors very difficult.

Given their chat included vile racism, misogyny, paedophilea and incest with one of a participants’ daughter, it is difficult to find a collection adjective.

So Dregs it was.

Other descriptions are welcome!

Chestnut Fri 16-Oct-26 09:55:55

There are good and bad in all parties and Labour have had their fair share of bad apples. It only becomes a problem when the bad apples are not removed and the barrel is ruined.

I would never attempt to tar a whole political party with the same brush or use one word to describe them, but since that's what you're doing, how would you describe the Greens?

Maremia Fri 16-Oct-26 10:11:45

If they are frequently caught making racist comments, then calling them racist seems linguistically accurate.

Cossy Fri 16-Oct-26 10:18:25

I think the issue here, with both Reform and Restore, isn’t the “followers” but the malevolent, manipulative leaders, who speak so articulately and so eloquently with extremely finely tuned persuasive tones, which in turn has exploited the fears and anxieties of people, who for many reasons, whether real or not, feel “disenchanted”, “disenfranchised” and “overlooked”.

They’ve been told now in so many ways, by these leaders that “no one gives a damn” about you, that, whether true or not, they believe.

Many of us have been through rough patches in our lives, have had family issues, perhaps not been able to pay a bill straight away, or suffered from depression.

The differences here are those who seek a better way of life actively go out, if able, and try to make this happen or seek help from those who can help them.

We now have third generation benefit claimants, who expect a decent life, but, in some cases are not prepared to put in the work necessary to do so, or who have never built the resilience to weather the storms which come into everybody's lives at some point. Coupled with the highest youth unemployment figures.

How much easier to blame someone else, anyone else, and at this moment Asylum Seekers are those.

But buyer beware!

Reform are already “hitting” on the disabled.. both PIP and Motability schemes are being targeted.

What Farage and Lowe appear to actually want is to cancel welfare completely, keep women out of the labour market completely and push our country back to the 1950’s when we all “knew our place”.

Ironically those who might suffer most are those who avidly support these two parties.

It truly is “Turkeys voting for Christmas”.

How anyone really and truly believes that two millionaire males actually care about what really happens to the vulnerable in this country is unbelievable.

Btw, this thread is about Reform, not Greens or any other party.

No one here is suggesting any other party is perfect or hasn’t had its fair share of issues, but if the sheer number of Reform councillors being sacked/suspended/ investigated plus the leader of Reform being financially investigated and the party funds being looked into, doesn’t tell you something, I simply don’t know what would.

Fallingstar Fri 16-Oct-26 10:25:55

I will tar the Reform party with the same brush but not all those who vote for them because I think Farage et al are good at scaremongering and trying to look like a viable option to other political parties whom the voters are fed up with.
The anti establishment spiel as set out by Trump is a big draw, whilst both Trump and Farage are bankrolled by billionaires.
Do voters see this??
I think it is easy to turn a blind eye if convinced that a party is going to do something about illegal immigration, if that is the one issue voters want solved.
The Greens have recently fallen in many people’s estimation but I feel that with a new leader and party members who resonate with what Caroline Lucas established, there is hope. Zach Polanski is not ‘the Green party’ he is just the most recent leader, but Farage is Reform.

Chestnut Fri 16-Oct-26 10:27:49

It's the collective 'they' again as if hundreds of thousands of people can all be described in one way. They are all different and have different views.

Extremists are always looking for a home and will be attracted to a party which swings either left or right. It's up to the party to remove them.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 16-Oct-26 10:40:15

I think the “ they” is talking about reform councillors and parliamentary candidates.

Using “they” in this instance seems reasonable.

Very well put and I 100% agree.

If you are calling members of Reform paedophiles and incestuous you are risking a court case . Good job you don’t live here, you would be sued. Hateful comments and certainly as bad as the ones you are whinging about.I will no longer respond to trash like that.

Perhaps read up on the actual stories before you condemn those living in the UK having to tolerate and hear these stories daily about local
Councillors elected from the Reform Party who behave in this utterly vile way.

There has been an undercover “sting” by sky news (I think or it may be ITV) but these people are filmed using this language amongst themselves and discussing incest etc.

I think we are perfectly entitled to describe these people in the terms we are using and some!!!

nanna8 Fri 16-Oct-26 11:00:55

I know you don’t like them but to tar everyone in that party with the same brush is just libellous.I don’t like them, either and I don’t like the Green Party there or the ones here but I would never, ever judge them by individuals. Dig deep and you would find nasty people in every single party ,of that I am certain. The Labour Party are no Saints, far from it. Same applies to the Conservatives I am sure.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 16-Oct-26 11:01:51

They are apparently using language and terms well known amongst paedophiles and those committing incest which means nothing to ordinary folk but has deep meaning amongst those foul individuals.

These are people who hope to run our country for heavens sake.
