Thanks Cossy.

Yes! Must watch. On player.

Cossy Sat 17-Oct-26 17:27:10

AI tells me this, which might be wrong haha

Laura Kuenssberg is interviewing Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, Justice Secretary Alex Norris, and Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice on the October 18, 2026 episode of Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg.

This issue might come up.

Does anyone know who is on with LK tomorrow?

It seems the response, when calling out the misogyny, and the sexist attitude of some Reform councillors, and others... is simply "what about..."

A known tactic to deflect away from the topic by implying that, because the "what-about" is not being discussed, the matter being debated is therefore invalid.

That’s presumably because it’s uncomfortable to say outright that you accept by the misogyny and sexist behaviour, when ignoring them it gives you the party you want in power. I can’t think of another reason why you wouldn’t own what they say and condemn the behaviour.

Maremia Sat 17-Oct-26 16:35:05

And yet, here you are K.

I wonder whether the many UK home grown rapists are into women's rights and the feminist movement. Those UK home grown rapists don't represent all UK born men- they are thankfully outliers and a relatively small portion of the UK male population. Same principle applies to asylum seekers.

Over 70,000 rapes were reported to uk police in 2025- only a very small proportion were asylum seekers.

I wonder what proportion of Reform UK councillors are made up by men who are racist and misogynistic both irl and as demonstrated by their online social media history. How that proportion compares to other UK political parties councillors? Other political parties appear to condemn/eject they own when found to be racists and misogynistic- Reform UK not so much which is the key concern.

Farage is much less likely to condemn/eject similarly. On the contrary he not only advised Robert Kenyon specifically to not apologise for his racist and misogynistic social media comments or to Carol Vorderman, he alternatively supported him in the face of wide scale condemnation.

The issue is “they”, by they I am directly referring to Reform MPs and Reform LA officials, think they are clever, funny, amusing, they make their comments, egg each other on, he-haw and gaffaw and actually believe that they’re “great guys”.

In reality, “real men” and most women are utterly disgusted by their rhetoric and language and attitudes towards women and most of all towards all minority groups.

They’ll never have the respect of decent, open, tolerant people, they are poor excuses for men.

Most of the men I know, young or old, discuss football, rugby, cricket, snooker, F1, music, festivals, sometimes politics and very occasionally women! (Unless of course, they are having a moan about their OH).

It’s not usual, in our culture, in this day and age, for decent men to use the terms some Reform officials appear to feel is acceptable.

It reminds me of the time Trump spoke in sexual terms about his daughter.

Goodness, yanda, I am astonished to read that you would expect to hear this kind of language " in any pub".
I would not.

…..and the 1000’s of male asylum seekers are so into women’s rights and the feminist movement.

These threads couldn’t get more ridiculous if they tried.
No wonder no one, other than the usual half a dozen, don’t bother.

Well your comment is certainly ridiculous and deflecting.

This isn’t about Asylum Seekers is it? It’s about home grown adult male Brits who should know better.

None of us, including you, have the first clue about how most of the Asylum Seeking males feel about women.

However, it’s pretty rich really to compare them, people from many different nations and cultures, because of the small percentage who behave in vile and totally unacceptable manner, with elected men who are supposed to be educated, civilised and work for their authorities.

A large percentage of men! Not just a a small %, an ever growing %.

That doesn’t make me, or anything one else a “leftie”, frankly it’s a very boring and totally meaningless comment and probably untrue.

Many members of every political party have condemned Reform, their leader, their MPs and their LA officials.

The Green Party are not comparable at all!
Unfortunately from what I have seen on social media Reform still have a lot of support. People can be horrible online, and Reform are the absolute worst.

Aren’t they just!

Their very favourite response if one dares to challenge anything they say is “you leftie nonce”.

Not nice at all and clearly not critical thinkers. However, I’ve seen so much worse on fb. Language most of us wouldn’t use in everyday conversation, let alone post online.

Do you seriously think that your comment on male asylum seekers in any way justifies the attitude that is being discussed.

If reform party members have the same attitude as those "thousands of male asulum seekers (who) are so into women's rights ..." as you put sarcastically put it, people who they seek to deport en masse, that is hardly a ringing endorsement for the party, is it? Extremely hypocritical too.

... the 1000 AS's or however many aren't likely to form the next or subsequent government though. It's an issue, but a separate one.

Oh, and we do talk about it - I certainly have. Quite a lot in fact.

Are you saying the comments weren’t offensive and the public shouldn’t be worried about people like Farage and co running the country because migrant males are not anti-misogyny?

I’m really trying to understand the point you’re making.

It's not a case of right, left, centre, it's a matter of sheer decency, Meandrogrog

Exactly

greyfur16 Sat 17-Oct-26 14:13:19

But surely it is possible to be concerned about more than one thing?

Undocumented males seeking asylum and people who clain to be part of a reputable political party saying awful things?

The silence speaks for itself.

... well, give Meandrogrog half a chance - real-life sometimes takes precedence, and it was only a matter of minutes since I posted! LOL!

But I am concerned about the attitude of some far-right... or farther right than the Conservatives anyway - male councillors, would-be councillors and ordinary voters. The traditional SAH mother is a right-wing philosophy, although I have met some left-wing chauvinists in the past. Nothing wrong with women-in-the-home whilst the men bring in the bacon - if it's by choice. But when men see Feminism as a threat to their dominance and devise ways to put women back in their lane, as they see it, then I'm afraid. Would Reform pander to the misogynists who want women disenfranchised of further education and, even, the vote?

I really want to hear what those who intend to vote for Reform have to say about this.

Maremia Sat 17-Oct-26 13:47:31

It is very upsetting, that elected politicians can think this way.

greyfur16 Sat 17-Oct-26 12:51:01

I'm afraid to say I have been turning over the comment about "bath night" in my mind. This person obviously has some knowledge of child abuse.
Sick.
