What those people must be going through. Having had a few hot days gives us some understanding. To be without water and a home in the heat. The whole place is destroyed. And now Trump is waiting for Netanyahu to finish it off.

foxie48 Wed 19-Aug-26 09:04:31

Netanyahu won't agree to a peace deal because he needs the war to stay in power and avoid getting kicked out at the election in late October. I

AGAA4 Wed 19-Aug-26 09:37:40

October election not far off now and hoping the evil Netanyahu regime will be finished.

JenniferEccles Wed 19-Aug-26 10:21:51

Netanyahu’s first priority is to protect his country and people from a terrorist regime on his doorstep whose sole aim appears to be the total elimination of all Israelis.

Hamas has refused to disarm until Netanyahu withdraws from Gaza.

If you were him, would you trust them to do that when all this started with the violent slaughter of innocent Israeli youngsters at a music festival ?

I certainly wouldn’t.

Maremia Wed 19-Aug-26 10:51:09

It would appear from much evidence that Netanyahu's regime plan to destroy Gaza.
Netanyahu's policy on Gaza began long before that tragic event.

And Hamas gave him the perfect excuse!, until then the Gaza border was relaxed, Hamas couldn't have that, they expected global outrage and hundreds of hostages to stop Israel from destroying Gaza.

They were wrong, Israel wont give up until Hamas has gone whether Netenyahu is there or not, because Hamas vows to destroy Israel.

So murdering a 5 year old girl surrounded by the bodies of her dead relatives in a car, whose telephone call saying how frightened she was and pleading for someone to come and get her is how Netanyahu prioritises protecting his country JeniferEccles?

He wont give up until there's no one left alive in Gaza David because that is and has always been his only goal.

Maremia Wed 19-Aug-26 19:09:20

There was nothing 'relaxed,' about a wall that separated people from the land their recent ancestors had worked.
Nothing 'relaxed' about being pushed into an area which was a fraction of what was rightfully, by treaty, and habit, their territory.

Wyllow3 Wed 19-Aug-26 19:12:12

Oh, that poor sweet child, ringing for help with her family dead around her, a tank next to the car - then found dead - shot or starved - the current regime in Israel tried to hide it until the phone call came out.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crl7yjlpx2po

I am so, so angry. 🤬

Wyllow3 Wed 19-Aug-26 19:13:50

"There will be an investigation"
Really - why wait till the phone call is broadcast to the world. Why shoot a five year old dead in the first place or leave her to starve, as well and the ambulance men bodies found buried in the sand, another phone call was recorded

and no consequences.

AGAA4 Wed 19-Aug-26 19:42:08

There will be a criminal investigation into the shooting of that little girl.
There are tragedies like this all through this war in Gaza.

1200 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire. 300 were children.
Netanyahu is not protecting his people. He is clearing Gaza for his own profit.
Israel is moving further into Gaza now making many families homeless.

The Netanyahu regime is evil.

Wyllow3 Wed 19-Aug-26 19:54:01

It is. The recently well publicised murder of citizens in the West Bank, there's another "enquiry" due.

I'm also holding in the light those forced into the IDF, including suicides.

Who cannot kill to order.

Or - as is indeed possible, rogue elements - but they are not being disciplined.

And yes, I know of Hamas atrocities. Two wrongs dont make a right. But heck, is it surprising now that young people of have little to live for are still joining?

valdali Wed 19-Aug-26 19:54:42

I think evil is a strong word, but Netanyahu probably meets the high (low?) bar.

David49 Thu 20-Aug-26 16:52:10

"He wont give up until there's no one left alive in Gaza David because that is and has always been his only goal."

I'm no supporter of Israel calling them evil is understandable, the population of Gaza is around 800,000 you think he wants to kill all of them.

Clearly he doesn't, he has stated that if Hamas surrenders their weapons he will withdraw, Hamas has refused. The stated policy of Hamas and other terrorists is to exterminate the state of Israel, while Palestinians support that policy the killing will continue.

I say this not because I support Israel but because I believe that's what will happen.

A new docu film 'American Doctors' which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was shown in Melbourne, tells the story of three medics trying to save lives with scarce resources in Gaza.
From news reports over the past few years, you may guess how the narrative goes.

Smileless2012 Fri 21-Aug-26 07:57:55

Exterminating Gaza as a home for Palestinians may not be Israel's stated policy, but it's clearly Netanyahu's intention.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 21-Aug-26 08:47:33

Ben-Gvir is imo the most evil person on this earth.

Ben-Gvir is imo the most evil person on this earth.

Also Smotrich who vowed to "cleanse" Gaza of all Palestinians.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 21-Aug-26 09:12:27

He is using the same phrases about the Palestinians as the Nazi’s did about the Jews. - that they are not human etc.

At his recent birthday, his cake was made to look like gallows - which are being constructed for Palestinian deaths in Israeli prisons.

Can they get any worse?

Isreal is destroying Palestinian civilians including children and destroying Gaza and the West Bank for a greater Israel.

He doesn't care about Hamas.

Hamas agreed to negotiate, but Netanyahu won't ever negotiate wont keep his word.
The Palistinians want peace equal rights equality.

Isreal must accept it cannot be just one race, dominance over Palestinians. For peace sake.

Hamas refused to disarm in return for Israel to withdraw, they dont want to be seen to loose power.

Israel has always been multicultural but the Arabs have never accepted that, they have always claimed the state for themselves and attacked the Jews many times
Even today that's what they want, an Arab Islamic state not a secular state where all religions are tolerated.

Prior to the huge rise in Jewish migration to Palestine, Arabs (who were Muslims and Christian) lived quite peacefully with Jews who lived there. Arabs became increasingly concerned about being displaced by the increase in Jewish migration duting the 20's, 30's and 40's and in deed they were right to worry as they have been displaced.
When Israel was created in 1948, its Declaration of Independence promised equal social and political rights to all inhabitants regardless of religion. In practice, while Arab citizens were granted formal legal and voting rights, they faced severe restrictions, military rule, and systemic inequalities from the beginning. tbh I'm not surprised they were angry.

valdali Fri 21-Aug-26 17:05:33

They have never said they want an Islamic state. Arab yes, because most (even the Christians) are arab.
What they want is a state.
Israel's been recognised by the UN since 1949 & was recognised by the US within minutes of being founded. Palestine has never been recognised as a state by western nations or the UN. In practice, when Israel settles on Palestinian land in East Jerusalem, the UN condemns it but does nothing to enforce. & because Palestine has no representation, it's reliant on other Arab nations to keep complaining that Israel is breaching international law, & lately with US hegemony & US Israelophilic, they fear repercussions if they speak out for Palestine.
It's a mess. there is fault on both sides but Netanyahu is the worst, most inhumane & intransigent premier Israels ever had.

AGAA4 Sat 22-Aug-26 08:10:25

The UK, Canada and Australia have condemned Israel for refusing criminal probe into aid worker killings in Gaza.
The Netanyahu regime is toxic.

Wyllow3 Sat 22-Aug-26 08:54:11

I was so upset just by the awful tales of settlement in the West Bank last night BBC I player had some videos - the huge chunks of land, previously declared off limits by the Israeli regime, just taken, and the violence of young settlers towards a population of mostly peaceful farmers as well as backed by IDF.

I want to hear more from our government against this.

Wyllow3 Sat 22-Aug-26 08:56:28

And people ask - what creates terrorism? Or Palestinian violence -

I mean, who would condemn us in the UK of we had to defend our very means of living, by creeping takeover...... people would not just stand back and let it happen!
