…….due to the defence spending plans. Good for him, maybe it will make those with the purse strings think again. Though I doubt it.

Boris might have been academically intelligent but as a Prime Minister, a politician and a human being, he was/is a totally arrogant ass hat. But, for all of that; he didn't play fast and loose with national security. Step forward Keir and claim your prize.

What? His links with Russians? His escaping his security detail whilst Foreign Secretary? How quickly history is rewritten.

And on top of that he gives Lebedev a knighthood….

Not a knighthood, a peerage.

Significantly higher in the pecking order and enables the holder to become one of the UK's legislators...

A very useful fine thing for the son of a former KGB officer.

I always get them mixed up! Is he still in the HOL’s?

Sadly of course he is

Along with Michelle Mome?

By which actions have Trump and Vance demonstrated that they are our allies?

‘Just look at how posters on disappearing contributors say they are worried about posting on N&P and suddenly getting cancelled!’

Just because they say it doesn’t make it true and neither does it mean they even believe it themselves. It is part of a campaign and we should all know better or should do than believe everything uttered during campaigns.

Why do you dislike the thread and posters that hope to have Allira reinstated so much, it’s very strange.

It’s the US that’s our ally, not one particular President.

M0nica Mon 15-Jun-26 09:15:48

But the President sets the tone and closeness. The 'special relationship' can disappear overnight if a President wills. The current incumbent doesn't give a toss about any old alliances. he sees everything in terms that mean it must always be a win for any of his demented ravings.

Ummm.
Instead of which we have Richard Hermer, now Lord Hermer, never an MP, given a peerage by Starmer to install him in the House of Lords and become Attorney General; never able to appear, and be questioned, in the House of Commons. Who worked with Starmer for Phil Shiner prosecuting British veterans who fought in the Iraqui war, all cases failed because based on false evidence. Also an advocate of the Legacy Bill, which will enable continuing prosecution of veterans from the 'Troubles.'

MaizieD Mon 15-Jun-26 10:30:11

Are you defending the elevation of the son of a ranking KGB officer to the peerage, eazybee?

Yes, there are numerous names that could be aimed at Johnson.
😃 😀 😄

Yes I quite agree, Churchillian, best PM by a country mile, especially during Covid, great intellectual, believer in personal freedom. There are some starters!

Oh yes. He really believes in personal freedom doesn’t he. At least we can agree on that. Thinks he’s totally above the law sad.

I am still waiting to hear which speeches you think he gave which are silly?

BJ was a total disaster during COVID. He and his staff regularly flouted the regulations his own government made, parties at No 10, unnecessary journeys by his closes aide 'to test his eyesight'.

A number of official reports have said the start of COVID regulations was bungled and led to unnecessary deaths.

_But most of all_:

Remember all those elderly ill people with COVID, dispatched back to care homes before the virus had cleared? They therefore took back to care homes the infection the home was trying to avoid. This led to the unnecessary deaths of thousands and thousand of people, not just care home residents but care workers and in their families

Remember all those old care home residents with dementia confuses and unhappy, unable to understand why they could not see their nearest and dearest. Many of those people and others died alone and frightened because family members could not be with them, to then be buried without, even all their nearest and dearest present. truly something that Boris could be proud of

Great intellectual? Bunkum. A first class honours degree does not necessarily always mean you are intelligent, merely that you are clever and good at passing exams. I have known a number of people with First class degrees. Brilliant scientists and engineers, but I wouldn't trust them to go to the take-away and bring back the food on the written order.

I do agree that he is a believer in personal freedom - but only for himself and his cronies.

According to Wiki, Johnson didn't even get a First.

Thank you. You have made my daay

I know posts can wander and I don’t have a problem with that, but what relevance has BJ to the worry about John Healy’s resignation as Defence Secretary and his reasons for doing so?
Although it does rather deflect the attention from KS so I suppose it’s useful.

I try to avoid personal comments but Tuliptree I just do not understand your need to snipe at Mollygo.

I was replying to a post she made which did not make sense. Am I not allowed to do that?

Wotapalaver Mon 15-Jun-26 17:05:25

Nor me Iam64; but I've noticed increasingly hostile and acerbic comments from Tuliptree and there was just no need for that particular snipe hmm

That’s quite OK Iam64. It leaves me unmoved.
Tt has just twisted what I said and not answered my question.

Mollygo Mon 15-Jun-26 17:07:46

That’s quite all right Tt. I don’t mind.
If you don’t want to answer I dare say someone else will. smile

Tuliptree Mon 15-Jun-26 17:10:08

I think it’s fine not to answer questions - or have I got that wrong? Is there a rule I don’t know about that says we should?

Casdon Mon 15-Jun-26 17:25:41

Asking a question about not being obliged to answer questions seems a bit counterintuitive, because nobody will answer the question. My brain hurts.

Exactly - mine too.

Mollygo Mon 15-Jun-26 17:45:47

No Tt and there’s no rule about only twisting part of a post, so you’re OK there too. smile

Just try to avoid being rude to people.
That’d help.

Tuliptree Mon 15-Jun-26 17:52:34

Ooohhh that’s me told off.
