Trump - fool in Netanyahu's hands

Trumps supposed "plans for peace" with Iran (if they were ever workable anyway) are just being smashed to bits right now.

Netanyahu is bombing Lebanon to bits in the name of Hezbollah, and many civilians will suffer. but what is just as bad, it is strengthening ordinary Lebanon citizens to turn to Hezbollah (since press are still in Beruit, these were direct interview). and - surprise, surprise - Hezbollah has been striking at Israel as a direct response - they were not the intital aggressors.

War breeds war.

Since one of Iran's key parts of the peace plan and reopening of the Straits is that Israesl's current regime put a halt on the bombing,

Trump's plans are dead in the water (how much they would have worked anyway is questionable, but nevertheless less just before Netanyahu launched the latest huge level of attacks he claimed it was more or less in the bag.

War breeds yet more war, and the world suffers, and the war has already cost the USA $30,000,000,000, and people will be noticing even more prices going up as well as "why start this war? Whats it got to do with us?"

Maremia Mon 01-Jun-26 19:41:54

Over in one day. Not.

AGAA4 Mon 01-Jun-26 20:00:01

This illegal war was doomed to failure from the start. Trump must surely regret getting involved.
His constant boast about peace deals almost done was just so much hot air.
Netanyahu won't stop until he he has done to Lebanon what he did to Gaza.
Trump still doesn't realise he has been used by Netanyahu causing difficulty for his own people.

Maremia Mon 01-Jun-26 20:02:59

Allegedly, Netanyahu has been trying for years, to get US Presidents to attack Iran.
Then Trump comes along.

Wyllow3 Mon 01-Jun-26 20:56:46

Just at election time coming up relatively soon in Israel .

(Perhaps declare a "state of emergency"? "Sorry: elections cancelled: unsafe in streets" ?)

Maremia Mon 01-Jun-26 22:03:02

And now it is being reported that there will be no deal from Iran until the IDF withdraws from Lebanon.

Maremia Mon 01-Jun-26 22:22:21

Another endless war.

Message from my friends in Northern Israel this morning read ‘meanwhile I’m working from home because of Hezbollah drones, but Iranian hackers are disabling out wi-fi’

I think your point about elections being postponed is very likely to come true.
The fighting will go on at many different levels regardless of any interference from outside.

Nobody's a winner except for the rich and power seekers and those happy to see the innocent dead and self seeking and arms sellers and big companies.

Everyone's claiming it's everyone else's fault.
Who actually wants peace in that lot?

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 02-Jun-26 08:10:50

Indeed: it would seem that not only did previous Presidents have no wish to enter a fight of Israel's choosing, but also that they were wise enough to listen to their advisers who described the likely scenario that would unfold.

Trump is on a completely different page to everyone else. Saying last night that a peace deal was imminent and would be great for the USA, whilst Iran have pulled out of talks.

Basgetti Tue 02-Jun-26 12:04:22

Reports on BBC this morning of an “expletive filled” telephone call between Trump and Netanyahu.
Netanyahu is out of control and won’t stop until Lebanon is reduced to rubble, as is Gaza.
Trump needs to pull the financial support. Of course, he won’t.

It's an infuriating situation all round. Two really nasty pieces of work destroying world peace and people's lives.

Yes, very frustrating.

But I think the Iranian regime, Hezbollah and Hamas should also shoulder some of the blame for the continuation of these conflicts.

Trump has called Netanyahu a "*****" madman." Is he sorry he was cajoled into this war now. I hope so because he has caused too many deaths, too much destruction, chaos around the world and for what.? For Netanyahu to continue his killing spree and destroying another country and it's people.
Who really is the madman?

Maremia Tue 02-Jun-26 16:56:15

Of course Hezbollah and Co bear responsibility, but they are already outlawed in the eyes of the world.
You expect better, more moral actions and decisions from the President of the USA.

Smileless2012 Tue 02-Jun-26 17:00:56

They're both madman AGA but perhaps Trump more so if he really believed that having let Netanyahu 'off the leash' he'd be able to reign him back in again.

Trump.

Both.

AGAA4 Tue 02-Jun-26 19:56:21

I don't believe Netanyahu is mad. He is evil and cunning and knows exactly what he is doing. He wants to destroy every one of his enemies by annihilating whole countries.

LemonJam Tue 02-Jun-26 20:00:10

I guess it depends what definition of "madness" is applied.

I just wanted to stop by with some good news.

We might start seeing these idiots grow a pair and fight back. The primaries arent going well for long time incumbents. Let's hope they take him down on their way out.

It heads to the Senate next for approval. We will see...

imaround Thu 04-Jun-26 00:08:20

We shouldn't get too excited though. Even if it passes the Senate, Trump can veto it. There is no way they can get a 2/3 majority to override the veto IMO.

We will take this as evidence that, at the very least, the GOP is starting to see some unhappy voters and there is an election coming up. That holds a lot of weight.

MayBee70 Thu 04-Jun-26 01:25:17

I was pleased to hear about this earlier today but what you say makes it a catch 22 situation surely? Government try to curb the power of war mongering mad president but said mad man can just overrule it confused.

imaround Thu 04-Jun-26 01:43:59

It is absolutely a Catch 22. And they know it. But it does put pressure on him.

I doubt he is smart enough to notice though.
