I thought Starmer has just given a good speech and I am generally critical of him at the moment.

I don't doubt that. I only mentioned it in response to the claim that all "targeted" attacks seemed to be against Jewish people.

I also have no doubt that this attack was targeted against Jewish people. The video I saw showed an attack on a man wearing one of those distinctive black hats worn by orthodox Jewish men (sorry, don't know what they're called).

He has been referred to the Prevent programme. Not sure how effective that is but as he's such a violent man I hope he will be imprisoned for life.

I noticed as well that he is being held in police custody in prison, which must mean that his mental health assessment did not indicate secure psychiatric hospital custody was warranted.

Yes, according to the campaign against antisemitism group, he received prison sentences for violence and once worked as a security guard at a primary school. Sigh.

Apparently, according to the Telegraph, the suspect had previously been jailed for stabbing a policemen and his dog.

I would say that the recent attacks on Jewish people are nasty, and I include the Bondi Beach and other attacks overseas in that too.

Jewish people are not collectively responsible for the actions of the Prime Minister of a different country ie Israel, just as we, if we are Christian, are not responsible for Trumps's actions in the Middle East nor Putin's actions in Ukraine.

I have never noticed Jewish people in the UK carrying out acts of terrorism or forming themselves into terrorist groups here.

I’m afraid I doubt that the govt. will take much action to combat the scourge of antisemitism. They are too concerned with pandering to and appeasing the Muslim community, since that is so much larger than the Jewish ditto, and so of course means masses more potential votes.

I'm sorry, but this is all wrong. It was specifically and deliberately planned as such, and not denied. It's disgusting to say "pandering" when you consider the organised, plotted, very large scale and substantial violence in the whole Southport affair.

Shame on you. Ordinary muslims are just like you or I, wanting to live in peace! Get out there and meet some in real life - talk/share live with not against.

Please don’t presume to tell me what I do or don’t think. Unlike - I suspect - very many on here, I have lived very happily for 13 years in Muslim countries, where relationships with the local community were invariably harmonious. But that experience of years ago now has not blinded me to what is so sadly happening in the U.K. today.

I don’t suppose I’m the only one who remembers TV footage of Muslim groups in the U.K. openly celebrating the October 7th Hamas attacks right after they happened.

The Met Commissioner, Mark Rowley, was also heckled by members of the public yesterday when he tried to speak to the media alongside Sarah Sackman MP.

What happened to the Sikh woman was appalling, and clearly it was racism. I may be wrong, although I don't doubt there are plenty of racial attacks against Muslims, that was the first time I'd heard of a Muslim woman (mistakenly in this case) being raped where the motive was racial and religious. That's not to say it hasn't happened, I just haven't read about it and I'm happy to be corrected.

On the other hand there have been hundreds, if not thousands of white girls, deemed "white trash and fair game" by their rapists, generally Muslim men, on industrial scale we're told. How many times do the same demographic appear with an almost predictable regularity when yet another such grooming trial is reported on.. That doesn't go the other way, which is why the appalling rape of the Sikh woman stood out in the way it did. That's not to say, as usually is pointed out, overall white rapists will outnumber their Muslim counter parts, but as white men represent 80% of total male population, to be expected.

All rapes are awful and as with the rape of the Sikh woman and the young white girls it demonstrates a contempt for women and a derision for their race and preconceptions and prejudices as to how men judge women on ethnic and religious grounds.

Lets also not forget those who drive around Jewish enclaves, shouting "rape Jewish women and girls" which unsurprisingly went unpunished.

If the ‘silly face’ was aimed at me ( and I don’t see it could be any other) then you clearly didn’t see that my apology was the way that the word specifically had come out as two words in an earlier post.

No it wasn't aimed at anybody.

There's enough horrible stuff going on without that.

Ask the Sikh Woman who was raped because a man thought she was Muslim. think of the fears that raises for muslim women.

Go join an interfaith group and find out their truths

From what the police guy said yesterday, it sounds like he has a history of violence and mental illness too.

He was specific ally targeting Jews, not just random attacks, he knew exactly what he was doing.So MH apart, it has to be called terror related offences.

Exactly, a targeted attack.
He made the journey from South London, probably 40 minutes, to a well known Jewish area in North London.
He didn't exactly walk out of his front door and randomly stab a few people in his street.
Mental health issues or not, I would say he planned it and knew exactly what he was doing

It’s not yet confirmed, but it does look as though he may have done that too MartavTaurus, as he is suspected of an earlier attack that morning, details of the person attacked then haven’t been released as far as I know, so we don’t know if he attacked another Jewish person or somebody else.

Even if he is mentally ill, from what I know and understand of mentally ill people, they can swing from being perfectly sane, to suffering quite badly.

Mentally ill people cannot and dont need to be, locked up all of the time by Social Services.
