How this news source describes itself:
The Parallel Truth offers educational mini documentary style videos to address curious minds. We will be unfolding mysteries and answering life's questions surrounding topics of history, geopolitics and geography.

This video:
Three global superpowers collapsed in same pattern before. Spain. Britain. The Soviet Union. Not by invasion, but by following the same hidden pattern. Today, the United States has already crossed Stage 5 of that exact sequence. This video breaks down the seven stages that destroy empires, why leaders always think they are different, and why history suggests America may be closer to collapse than anyone wants to admit.

This isn't the only thread. Some of us have memories of others (albeit possibly a bit imperfect at times)

I think most debt is just paying ordinary bills like mortgages, rent, gas and electric. Mainly because they all cost far too much because the governments are hopeless and like taking our money in taxes and costs like licenses and permits and parking fees.

You might be talking about our generation, Nanna8; raised to save up, go without, pay cash/ repay debt etc.

Younger generations manage their income and spending a totally different way. They want everything right now because their credit card will provide it.

Thanks Mazie, that could be it.

"Where I can't agree with David is that we have a nation of idle shiftless people who expect everything to be handed to them on a plate grin When we live in a world dominated by consumerism we cannot altogether blame people for falling for the lures of advertising and 'must haves'."

Idle and shiftless were your words Maizie not mine, the polititians decided that the UK could prosper with a service economy, we havnt, we just borrow more and more to make up the shortfall.
I do blame the those who are gullible and fall for consumerism and marketing, "the must have the latest trend" which will undoubtedly be imported, electronics, clothes, cars and most consumer goods will be. In addition the money is borrowed to do it

Thing is that 'growing the economy' is seen as a positive, and is pushed by politicians.
How to get round that?

There is no way round it because polititians will always put getting elected in front of proper economics. So they offer giveaways to whatever pressure group to gerrymander votes.

Can you see a non political solution?
I know, that's a huge ask of you. But maybe you have a theory.

The imperative of a polititian to get elected overrules everything else, Thatcher was the worst selling council houses at a discount, we are still suffering now. Of course it was our generation that benefitted but only at the expense of our children and grandchildren
