Trump's threat to Iran that they have 48 hours to open the Strait has resulted in Iran saying if Trump takes action they will close the strait to all shipping.

I hadn’t realised that the government had issued any new advice apart from saying we as a country can’t be hit with a ballistic missile? Given that we don’t have an iron dome, it’s not very helpful because we can be … let’s wait and see what next week brings…..

Yes it has. Why anybody could possibly think that the government’s emergency preparedness information for citizens in emergency situations should be ignored is beyond me, when it’s just sensible suggestions for all of us to do what we can to help ourselves.

I agree it's sensible Casdon- when and if any government guidance is necessary and issued we then follow it. Steve has been doing the media rounds today and has publicly stated that there is no assessment to substantiate Israel's claim that Iran has long range missiles capable of reaching London.

What I think ronib is that every time somebody says something you disagree with, you throw a dead cat ‘dilemma’ into the conversation, you just did it again in fact.

The UK Emergency Alerts system will only function on compatible devices ( e.g iPhones connected to 4G or 5G networks. Alerts will not be received if the phone is switched off, in airplane mode, connected only to 2G/3G or via wi fi.

True. On the other hand sirens did not reach every citizen either. Neither did church bells. Until we all have a chip, I don’t honestly see how it will be ever possible to guarantee every citizen gets a personal warning?

London houses our government buildings, military headquarters and our leaders.
Bombing London could shatter the decision making chain leading to chaos leading to the slow down of our response.
