I can hardly believe I read that they’re ‘considering’ it. Yes, I know it will take an Act of Parliament, but to be ‘considering’ it - why don’t they just get on and DO it? How many MPs would actually vote against it?

Mollygo Mon 23-Feb-26 15:55:21

Do I doubt that AMW will be found guilty of at least some of the things of which he stands unofficially accused?
No.

Do I want to abandon our right to innocent until proven guilty in a court of law?
No.

Do you want to dismiss that right for everybody or should we be able to pick and choose?

Maremia Mon 23-Feb-26 15:58:41

When you say 'you' do you include GNs, His Majesty, our Government and the Australians?

Where’s the Audit Commission in all of this? Couldn’t Andrew be made to refund unauthorised expenses back to the awarding body?

The Audit office were probably told to turn a blind eye, like everyone else where he was concerned.

ronib Mon 23-Feb-26 16:49:06

Well let’s tell the Audit Commission now is the time to revisit the figures…. petra

Casdon Mon 23-Feb-26 17:09:17

Is that the royal ‘we’ ronib? 😀

ronib Mon 23-Feb-26 17:19:18

Should be up to the politicians to safeguard public assets? Labour should be shouting from the rooftops?? Casdon

Casdon Mon 23-Feb-26 17:22:08

It was just a joke ronib, hence the smiley.

ronib Mon 23-Feb-26 17:31:59

Today has been spent trying to work out why a 90 year old has to pay £52 a month for Tena night time super pants- not available on the NHS. My sense of humour has taken a hit …. Casdon.

Casdon Mon 23-Feb-26 17:44:05

Patients don’t have to pay roniib, the NHS provides continence pads. Tena is a product of choice, not an essential. We buy Tena for my mum though, and it’s not affected my sense of humour?

If that’s addressed to me, Maremia then I’m asking anyone except me, because I’ve already said said I want to keep the innocent until proven guilty in a court if law rather than conviction in a media court.
If you’re asking someone else, then sorry.

Casdon what category do massages come under? Casdon

Casdon Mon 23-Feb-26 18:10:45

They are infrared, obviously ronib. .

ronib Mon 23-Feb-26 18:19:40

Are they cheaper than standard? Casdon. Meanwhile the elderly are not getting the best care packages…..?

Freya5 Mon 23-Feb-26 18:23:17

Good news, now Mandelson arrested.

Casdon Mon 23-Feb-26 19:06:13

I have no idea ronib, the NHS ones are pads rather than pants, I expect some people prefer one type and some the other, but I don’t know what the relative costs are.

The Audit Commission was disbanded in 2015 but their records should be available for scrutiny.

Well the 12million was a waste of time, Butter & Jam, it hasn’t stopped him being plastered across the news.

Anniebach Mon 23-Feb-26 22:29:57

Was the payment to protect the late Queen’s jubilee year ? the first British monarch to reach 70 years as monarch

MT62 Tue 24-Feb-26 10:21:02

It doesn’t matter what it was for AB, if he was innocent as he claims,
I would not have given VG any money.
I would have helped the FBI with any information I had on Epstein.
Anyway like I said, it hasn’t helped him one bit, or his dear, late mother.
The late queen must be spinning in her grave.

The Wales’s should not be travelling/flying en famille
as they have been, just in case and as requested years
ago by Queen Elizabeth.

Andrew will never reach the throne, neither will Harry
nor the ‘girls’ constitutionally correct or not.

As to the future of the Monarchy: I’m putting good
money on Charlotte elbowing George out of her way
for which he may be relieved.
She will sort everybody out whilst looking immaculate.
No one will oppose her, ever.

A pity Anne didn't sort Andrew out!

ronib Tue 24-Feb-26 11:58:05

Anne is not endowed with extra powers … for all we know, Anne might be holding her brother together….

Calendargirl Tue 24-Feb-26 12:19:19

I think by the time George (or Charlotte, as some seem to want) reach ‘the throne’, the monarchy will be very different to what it is now.

Hopefully 40 or so years away, much can happen by then.

Goodness you want another 80+ years old monarch? The last ones later years were not exactly coveted in glory and good sense .
