To receive pressure on the poorest families of course, food banks, and it's not a waste of money as it will be spent as per consumers spending money and boosting the economy.

It's not just the image conjured up of the "Very deprived". Ordinary families on low professional type incomes are struggling too.

since when was that a "bad thing ? - it used to be part of a ongoing past Conservative Party's concerns as well!

Do you think aspartame would be added to milk based drinks, I don’t think that’s been done before? I’d hope they would just be less sweet with maximum 4.5% sugar, but still palatable without additives. I sometimes drink oat latte, and I’d definitely be happier if it had less sugar.b

As I never add sugar to coffee at home or when out, I don't understand why sugar is added to those sold as ready drinks. Unless it's as a preservative?

I guess milk shakes have always been a sweet drink, but I do agree with you on coffee. As far as I know you can’t buy unsweetened oat latte in a carton. I don’t take sugar in coffee normally, but on the go, there is no choice.

Walking through town today, it’s quite obvious who will benefit from the removal of the 2 child cap.

Feckless, scruffy people with so many children they can't even count them.

Puts in me in mind of a previous Prime Minister.

Many of us might not be around to take advantage by then.

Now there's a thought, but how could it be really got off the ground sooner? I think looking for improvement in GP services are still very important for our age group, but as previous threads have shown, its actually quite good for some - very patchy depending on where you live and of course good management.

I think that is perfectly fair. It stops or slows down essential traffic like emergency vehicles. Demonstrations on foot can be kept to one side of the road to allow essential traffic through.

So why approve it initially then?

If you are a well off pensioner with income higher than £35k you can afford £4 a week to pay for better social services, everyone else on that income will be contributing as well.
It’s simple pensioners use a high proportion of NHS and social services if you can afford it you should pay more.

That is the government logic

At least they demonstrate peacefully unlike the Stop Oil lot and the Pro Palestinians. Seems they are allowed to do what they like.

Many of us might not be around to take advantage by then.

The government is there for everyone not just the elderly who have, in general, experienced economic conditions in the UK, such as cheaper housing, free education, and strong job security, that have become much harder to access for younger generations. Unrealistic expectations could lose us all the sympathy some continue to expect.

Why don’t they just tax fat people more so they drink less milkshakes?

Instead of raising income tax rates, one tax, one process, there will be up to a hundred tiny tax adjustments on a hundred different taxes.

That’s one hundred more processes, administered by a hundred different teams, increasing the cost of administration by a hundred fold, thus reducing the overall tax take for the government.

Wildly inefficient and resulting in the likelihood of income tax increases next year, on top of the silly cuts this year. Senseless spending on administration and lack of vision.

Oh dear! My Ds and DiL clearly sinners. yet he is a maths professor, she is a speech therapist. the children (except for my dear very disabled one) re very likely -show signs already- of being very bright, very responsible members of society, wanting to do good, caring and loving.

How desperately shocking. shouldn't be allowed, clearly. We must need immigrants to fill the jobs they will do, perhaps?
