We lit a candle to remember the terrible deaths of the Israeli families and all the young people at the music festival and in memory of the murdered hostages and those still being held if still alive.Will keep the candle going all this week.🕯️

I honestly despair at the reaction from people. Chanting and marching.

Since when do we support terrorism? How has that even happened.

Would you be happy if your grandchild comes home from school with his blazer covered in spittle?

Dispiriting is the word, and I try not to get invested on SM threads too often on the subject, but sometimes I just have to!

We don’t support terrorism we do support a people who have been treated appallingly for decades by Israel ,I have nothing but sympathy for the loss of the victims of Oct 7th last year but equally I have sympathy for the horrors visited on the Palestinians for 60 +years before then and the genocide since .Netanyahu MUST be stopped before more innocents die.
This is not justice this is indeed driving Palestinians out of their homes their country.Wakeup and see the truth!

I think it’s completely wrong to allow marches in London in support of Hezbollah. When I mentioned this to Mr Ronib he said it was important for people to have free speech. But is it? He said that it’s important not to suppress thoughts. I am a bit nonplussed.

I understand all too well what you are saying.
And am offended that you think I support terrorism by taking part in a march against war. I also marched against war in Iraq. And will never support war as a solution over the possibility of peace.
You obviously feel victimised but I can assure you that being a person of colour who is Muslim is no walk in the park either.
With your child overhearing others say ‘the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim.’
And my DH isn’t even a Muslim he is an atheist, can’t stand any religion after the horrors his family went through.
So don’t assume I don’t get what you are saying.

Well we could ban these marches, start a petition and see if we succeed, with government wanting to cut funds with
policing it could work. We could ban any kind of gathering in public against anything.
For certainly we can’t cherry pick, it would have to be a ban on all marches to be fair.
Which is exactly how it is in Russia and Iran.
Good company we’ll be keeping then.

The March I went on called for a ceasefire. It did not support Hamas or Hezbollah and the police were successful in rooting out any troublemakers.
People marched against the Vietnamese war but were not supporting communism, and people marched against the Iraq war but they were not supporting the despot Saddam. This is not something new and is not about people supporting anything other than an end to the bloodshed on all sides

Whenever there is a march they are quick to remove anyone who looks as if they are terrorist sympathisers and so could incite violence and those on the March would give them short shrift too. There are police officers utilising drones and helicopters to spot any wrongdoing.
Amazes me how people actually think our police force would allow this to happen.

It's amazing that people in London were carrying placards today professing support for Hezbollah, claiming they are not terrorists, when in fact many Lebanese people themselves do not support them.

Babs03. I didn’t say anything about The Mayor of London’s faith. I reiterate that I find it remarkable that placards in support of proscribed terrorist groups are allowed in the streets of London. My husband disagrees with me.
