It’s problematic when the witness is unable to remember accurately. For example, in his book Spare, Harry says he was informed of his great grandmother’s death whilst he was at school, but in actuality he was on a skiing trip with his father and brother. The consequence of this is that this incident and others show clearly that Harry is an unreliable witness.

Of course the press are intrusive vegansrock. But what’s the alternative? What would we know about Boris Johnson or Matt Hancock during Covid without a free press? Be careful what you wish for.

How can you compare Boris Johnson who chose to be prime minister to a young persom who didn't choose be in the public eye?

How do you compare government corruption which the public needs to know to a teenager's sex life which a few sick gossips want to know about

Harry doesn't seem to be someone who takes advice, unless it's from Meghan. He may well have been advised by his legal team not to bring the case or that it was not strong enough.

My son is a barrister and often advises clients to settle, but they won’t take his advice. He’ll say to us, ‘we’ll lose.’ And they do!

There's "in the public interest" and then there's just click-bait stuff with our press. They use everything as "in the public interest".

If a politician is dodgy, lying or corrupt, then of course it's public interest.

If a royal is receiving carrier bags containing £3 million in cash, then, yes, that's public interest.

If a royal is being connected with trafficking/grooming/exploitation of young girls, then thats public interest.

Who is having a relationship with whom is not public interest. It's personal.

Without wanting to virtue-signal, I refuse to read the gossip about William and have no idea whether it's true or not. It must be hurtful for his wife. Will his eldest child also at some point read about it? I'm not a fan of royalty anyway, they are still human beings with feelings though.

Do you not think there's a difference between a public figure who received a large amount of money possibly due to having tax payer's money help with his legal team and someone who is completely anonymous person on the internet.

Whilst I agree with most of what you say DiamondLily, the royals such as Harry do rather make it our business when they insist on having over the top weddings with carriage rides round the area, waving and smiling at all the commoners. It could be argued that William should have had a high profile wedding because of his place in the line of succession, although frankly I don’t see the need myself, but others such as Eugenie and Harry certainly didn’t need to put themselves out there costing the British tax payer millions for all the security. Frankly no one can have it both ways! Harry wanted his big wedding because his brother had one and wanted all the waving and public adoration and pictures in the newspapers, but doesn’t want it when it suits him, such as when he’s wearing a Nazi costume, or taking drugs, or falling out of an expensive club late at night so full of alcohol (and drugs?) so that he can barely stand up. I’m sorry, no one can have it both ways!

They should pay for it themselves.

Its not that he doesn't like "the lime light". He doesn't like all of the misreporting and lies which the media peddle. He is totally right to stand up for himself against the toxic British press.

Following reports of the court from a Barrister, non affiliated, it seems Harry is telling his own lies, or at least his version of the truth.

That made me smile Smileless. Even I know about that incident where he discusses losing his virginity and I haven’t even read the book! Those who did read the book discussed it on here, on Gransnet, and of course it was all over the news. Unfortunately for the poor woman involved, Harry’s indiscretion resulted in her being identified. He’s not too bothered about plastering other people’s private lives all over the media. Perhaps Harry should have a think about his own behaviour!

Only if he can prove that it was gotten by illegal means. So much has come out that the information was already in public knowledge. On him lies the burden of proving otherwise.

I didn't read the book either maddy and when I first learned he'd written that, I laughed.

But it must have been mortifying for the woman involved, who he described as older, but turned out to be only a couple of years older than him.
What really amazes me is his ability to think that whatever he says about others is perfectly fine, but others must not say anything about him otherwise it’s illegal. His sense of overblown entitlement is truly wonderous to behold.
