Boris Johnson's "Partygate" was November 2020, weeks before Christmas, when the general public were getting strong hints that Christmas would be on lockdown again, and there were no vaccines available.
Keir Starmers "Beergate" was April 2021. We were out of lockdown so my calendar tells me, and I (clinically vulnerable) was getting my second vaccine.
I think personally the timing of the vaccines should be considered. November 2020 they were a promise of something to come. In April 2021 we were looking at the end of dangerous Covid cases.
November 2020 Covid deaths in the UK reached 11,645. April 2021 Covid deaths in the UK reached 1,242.
Great news. I never thought he would be found guilty. A man of decency and integrity. Good news Angela has also been cleared. Onwards and upwards to a Labour Government.
He has a reputation to uphold, he would not have knowingly broken the law.
Exactly. But my very right-wing neighbour has just said "why did he have a beer then".
I did point out that they had been knocking on doors all day, the hotel was not serving meals, and why shouldn't he have a beer - but I don't think she will change her mind as the prejudice is well entrenched (she is otherwise a very nice person).
From Polly Toynbee Guardian columnist Of all the guilty men and women in the dismal reign of Boris Johnson, the British right wing press bears heavy responsibility for what the country has become. From the self lacerating Brexit referendum to the elevation of a man they knew to be unfit, they set the pace, at the behest of extreme Brexiteer press barons - Murdoch-Rothermerd-Barclay foghorns still dominate the political landscape.
