I am so sorry to hear that Robin Gibb has died. He was my favourite BeeGee, I remember his wife talking about him many years ago, saying she would hear him rehearsing in their house and would have to stop and listen, as he has the voice of an angel.

Yes, I'm sorry too. What a shame three of the brothers have now died - only Barry left. sad
They were such prolific songwriters, as well as musicians.

The BeeGees' music can still take me back to the days of bee-hive hair-dos, waspy-waisted skirts worn with crinoline petticoats [starched with sugar water], Bardot-tops and ropes of brightly coloured, plastic poppet-beads. Happy memories.

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 16:15:04

confused

Were you living in a time-warp, soop?

Jacey Mon 21-May-12 16:17:07

Oh, soop ...I remember the plastic popped-beads ...had a bright yellow set!!

Found myself singing along to their music on the radio this morning sad

soop Mon 21-May-12 16:22:45

Anagram Why? Was that a different era? Ah well...they were still good memories wink

soop Mon 21-May-12 16:31:42

hmm I do believe that the BeeGees came later...was it when I wore the sack? A most unbecoming garment that was too tight on the knee. I had to hobble in that particular creation. All so long ago - but those times still make me smile

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 16:32:56

You are funny, soop! grin

whenim64 Mon 21-May-12 16:37:46

The BeeGees did come later but you reminded me of my sugar-starched underskirts soop. They would attract wasps! They were so uncomfortable and would ruin my stockings because the stiff net kept catching on them. grin

My younger brother was only about 5 or 6 when Massachusetts was released. He spent ages singing about 'Massive chewzits' Goodness knows what he thought he was singing about, but we still sing that when we hear the song! confused

jeni Mon 21-May-12 16:39:28

Are these honey or bumble bee gees? confused
And why have we two threads on bees? Even moreconfused

soop Mon 21-May-12 16:43:52

when...and it was impossible to sit on the bus - forced to stand for the entire journey, skirt taking up acres of space. grin

soop Mon 21-May-12 16:47:04

And...apart from wasps being drawn to the sugared petticoats, they took a great liking to my bee-hive hair-do [liberally sprayed with some tacky stuff to keep it standing twelve inches high!] grin

soop Mon 21-May-12 16:48:34

And there was I thinking I was the Bee's Knees. wink

Annobel Mon 21-May-12 16:58:28

Oh, those petticoats! I also had one with plastic hoops drawn through channels between the tiers. I was doing a vigorous Scottish country dance when I felt something winding round my legs - hoop had come adrift. Better than being beset by wasps!

jeni Mon 21-May-12 17:16:50

And me! They were banned at my school, along with anything else that was fun! Prayer and work and study only. Looking back I'm not surprised I rebelled.
They even banned 'green door' and 'when you walk in the garden' can't remember who sang them!

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 17:33:49

Frankie Vaughan!!

jeni Mon 21-May-12 17:46:56

Ah yes! I remember it well!

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 17:51:58

Wasn't that Maurice Chevalier? confused

jeni Mon 21-May-12 17:53:14

Yes in Gigi!

soop Mon 21-May-12 18:05:45

Every little breeze seems to whisper Louise...[Chevalier]
