I find a very tiny penknife to cut through the edge of the foil around the tablet is very helpful, especially after I've just cut my nails, which are never very long nor sharp anyway.

In short, use a tool.

Paracetamol is the only medication I'm allowed to take for arthritic pain and I do go through a lot. Since my GP refuses to prescribe them ("You can buy them yourself") and as 32 is the limit per purchase, I stock up whenever we pass a pharmacy or in a supermarket. (I don't mind paying for them but it's the inconvenience of keeping enough available.)

Of all the brands I use (Lidl, Asda, Superdrug, Boots) only the ones from Boots are hard to access so I can understand the frustration of the OP.

Another thing is that very few places will recycle the empty blister sheet

aggie: As far as I know Superdrug do still recycle blister packs. Perhaps it depends on the size of the branch but their website suggests that they do:-

I agree that some paracetamol packaging is more difficult to open than others, particularly the capsule type pills.

I solved the problem by taking an old vitamin bottle and emptying the paracetamol into it. I only have to sit and do it about once a month and it doesn’t seem so bad when done en masse and not in a hurry or wanting pain relief.

With thinning skin plus aspirin I can pretty much cut myself on anything. I’m always finding new and interesting ways to injure my hands.
Also the redesign of plastic bottle tops are an unwelcome nuisance not just opening but getting them on again…..

The rule about paracetamol is really is a very daft one though understandable but its impossible to supervise. We have cheap shops here that stock them so you could go to one buy a couple of packs go to the next one etc I can think of five shops all within spitting distance in my street where I could walk from one to another in half a minute to buy my two packs

Maybe it also depends on the type eg, tablet, caplet or capsules. I find capsules easier to swallow, and dispensing them is fine because of they are long and you can push them out.
I see shandi, that you find capsules more difficult to get out.

Boots in town also does the recycling, so it depends on how often you go in.
