Sorry if this is too explicit but if you dont ask...
I'm now 3 weeks post total hip replacement and am starting to think about sex! Trouble is, my DH is (ahem) very overweight and I'm quite skinny, so the thought of missionary scares the life out of me! I also can't widen my hips much (physio has given me a 'clam shell' exercise as part of standard physio and my knees just will not part).
I can't kneel down and get back up and I can't comfortably lie on my side to just 'do him'.
Should we just wait a bit longer, given that he is feeling a bit frustrated. He has 2 hands after all! Or is there a position we could try?
I think it's a fair question. I don't have an answer as I've never had a hip replacement, but if you aren't ready, then don't seems sensible. Maybe you could ask your doctor for advice?
Note to self: Never ask any sex questions.
No, most on GN think it’s wrong to talk about sex.
I'm not shocked, nor a prude, but the original post has unfortunately conjured up an image, that I cannot get out of my head.
I'm of the opinion that what happens in a marriage, stays in a marriage. Why would anyone want to write about it on a public forum?
As I have posted before, why haven't you asked your clinicians, the people who know your medical history? None of us have any knowledge of your physical condition, so are not qualified to advise..
This! Far too much information. 🫣🫣🫣
Exactly 👍🏻. It’s strange to ask a group of grannies such a personal question. I know we do have some posters who worked as doctors or nurses but why not ask your medical team 0P

MayBee Scrolled through the health forum and found the post about peeing . You must have a brilliant memory !
It was only last night and you and I were two of only three people that replied to her query which is why I remembered it. It was the post about dogs claws.
Well, I didn't contribute because I took my dogs to the vets to have their claws trimmed.
If you search on user name the poster has made comment on many subjects. I too don’t see any issue with the OP’s question, we’ve had discussion on urination, constipation, menstrual issues etc, making love is a healthy and important part of many relationships - so I keep being told 🤣🤣

MayBee I had a vague recollection , but having checked I couldn't find any posts from the OP . I answered without hesitation because three weeks is too early !
Having had a hip replacement recently, 3 weeks is rather too soon for amorous activity, we all recover at different rates, you will know when YOU feel it’s comfortable. Take care a failed hip replacement can be a real nightmare.
I don't think that you've posted before If this is a serious question : Three weeks is too early . Healing will permit sex between six to eight weeks after the incisions have fully healed . Full healing around the joint itself takes a full three months . If your hubby is overweight he needs to do something about it . He shouldn't lie on top of you . You'll have to pleasure him manually .
And most importantly : you need to consult your doctor .
You actually replied to a previous post by the OP.

Good grief. You'd think I'd written a porn novel from some of the reactions. I honestly can't believe no one has thought about this before!
It's the sort of thing I've read from mumsnet over many years before I transferred to gransnet. Does everyone just stop when they are over 60?!
Quite. I’m sorry you’ve received such ridiculous responses for your perfectly reasonable question. It’s like we’ve been transported back to 1950. I hope when you do manage to recommence your sex life that you remember to turn the lights out and just delicately raise the hem of your winceyette nightdress.
I would think it was a troll on MN too as would many on MN, its nothing to do with age, it is to do with the fact that there are lots of trolls. This doesnt mean u are one it just means there are a lot of trolls.
