Interested to see a plan of Monty’s garden in this month’s Gardeners World. He must have plenty of help!

Monty Don's garden has a rather unkempt look - I love it though it isn't the way I'd plan a large garden .

He must have help as it really is massive .

I enjoy listening to him - he is quite poetic .

One thing that I really don't like about him - he complained about the unsightly polytunnels in his county to the local council .

They belong to ordinary hard working people , who don't have the luxury of a BBC salary .

Only if it was Monty, Sarah75!

Oh do they have basket size ones also ?

😂

I’d want a full-time gardener thrown in!. Thrown into the greenhouse?! (A la Lady Chatterley’s lover?) grin

The greenhouse is beautiful JaneJudge, but for that price I'd want a full-time gardener thrown in!

Also have a front garden, Italian in style, well sort of😳🤣

I’ve got the gin bench, just outside kitchen French doors, next bit down is the jungle, where I grow a sad banana plant, three mahonia trees, tree lilies, red hot pokers, I do have a spaniel, who loves to go straight through, not round anything and the mini orchard at the end.

I've added it to my basket 😀

our greenhouse cost over £500 which I thought was more than enough! but these ARE beautiful but I doubt are aimed at the likes of me grin

I looked at how much his new greenhouse would be and they are a five figure sum

😲
Ours was £20, 2nd hand from a friend years ago, DH has probably spent more than that on replacing panes of glass but it does its job.

Mind you, it's tiny compared to Monty's.
But we had lbs of grapes last year 🍇

We were talking about this, this morning merlotgran. How much people achieve in such small spaces too

This is why I love the short visits to viewers’ gardens. Makeshift greenhouses, washing up bowls perched on windowsills, pots crammed into every nook and cranny. You can just feel the joy coming out of some of these gardens.

I do envy Monty his spacious potting sheds and workbenchs. I get moaned at for using our utility room to pot things on or plant seeds. When his paint brushes need cleaning DH resents battling through hanging laundry to access the sink only to find my plant pots got there first! I remind him that his four bikes and their stuff clutter up the garage ...

Hmm the front and the back garden. We still have a front garden unlike most of our neighbours who have paved over for parking.

Monty's garden is huge. More like a small country estate. I wonder how many staff he has 🤔

AskAlice Sat 04-Mar-23 11:28:03

Whitewavemark2 I have a tortoise hibernating in the garage - I do have a fridge in there but she's not in that as it's currently storing the necessary accoutrements for Wine Corner!

MrsKen33 Fri 03-Mar-23 20:03:15

I give names to our garden. The front, the bottom, the middle bit and the lawn. Easy. Oh and the washing line bit.

Callistemon21 Fri 03-Mar-23 19:53:40

Front door key.

Callistemon21 Fri 03-Mar-23 19:52:34

No, sadly.

He came from a Sue Ryder shop and has a tummy which will just hold a house key, bought when DD used to get home late, realise she didn't have her front door and throw gravel up at the bedroom window.

He must be about 25 now, battered but still lives in the rockery.

In case anyone wondered, he doesn't have a key in his tummy any more!

^oh and also a skull in amongst the ferns that used to belong to my son^

Is he a paleontologist?

No just a strange phase he went through as a teenager
