Interested to see a plan of Monty’s garden in this month’s Gardeners World. He must have plenty of help!

He has those lovely dogs 🐶

Thanks Sarah75.
Does anyone else give names to different sections of their garden? I do 😃

Well, there's the veg patch, the rockery, the flat lawn and the rest!

Oh, the front and the back 😀

Must be more inventive.
I shall draw a plan.

I have "Wine Corner" - a tiny patio behind the greenhouse where the garden gets the last of the sunshine in the evening! It used to be called "The Lower Patio" a la Hyacinth Bouquet, but its use has evolved over the last few years into something different grin

Yes😄, the rockery, the gravel garden, the woodland bit, the bees and butterfly garden, the shady garden the rose garden and the right hand side bit plus the seat area. Oh and the veg trug area and utility area, with compost bins, greenhouse, shed etc.

Not that it helps towards keeping it in good order.

We have to think of posher names, like Monty, Whitewave

The woodland bit becomes The Coppice, my sloping lawn bit could become the Herb Garden since it got infested with oregano, the few rose bushes The Rose Garden etc, the top bit with two apple trees The Orchard etc
Where the pots are - The Gravel Garden

And the patio - The Dining Terrace with Pergola

I just need a gardener now; Monty must have a team.

I like wine corner AskAlice.
That’s a very posh name The Dining Terrace Callistemon. Mines called Backyard Bistro 🤣

Callistemon21 Fri 03-Mar-23 11:15:40

It's a patio that needs a weed and a pressure wash, Beechnut, but the table and chairs are there.

I must up my standards 😀

I used to do that in my old garden which was much bigger than my current one and it amused DH that I also named all our bird boxes.

We had The Mansion, The Cottage, The New Build, The Chinese Tea House, The West Wing and No. 64 which was made from an old packing case with part of the dispatch number still visible over the entrance.

I always wonder what Monty’s spring garden looks like the rest of the year! Those of us with normal gardens have to plan for as much colour and interest as we can achieve everywhere all year round.

I’ve named most of my ‘garden ornaments’ as well. The cement duck sitting by the pond is Henry Moorehen 🦆

Oh I’ve got a concrete Buddha that used to sit looking into a pond (yin and Yang) but the dog continually trashed the pond until it became a muddy puddle, now it just sits looking mournful.

I’ve got a Puck with a missing toe ( so got him cheap) and a Venus looking into her shell which is full of water for the bird bath. Oh and I’ve got a laughing Buddha but he is covered in Ivy - oh and also a skull in amongst the ferns that used to belong to my son.

shock. (grin)

JaneJudge Fri 03-Mar-23 19:08:31

My money’s on the laughing Buddha. 😂

Whitewavemark2 Fri 03-Mar-23 19:26:33

😄 it is life sized and very realistic, gives people quite a turn.

Callistemon21 Fri 03-Mar-23 19:40:07

We have a tortoise in the rockery

Is he a paleontologist?

No just a strange phase he went through as a teenager

Callistemon21 Fri 03-Mar-23 19:52:34

No, sadly.

He came from a Sue Ryder shop and has a tummy which will just hold a house key, bought when DD used to get home late, realise she didn't have her front door and throw gravel up at the bedroom window.

He must be about 25 now, battered but still lives in the rockery.

In case anyone wondered, he doesn't have a key in his tummy any more!
