marzipan- too soon?

Is it too soon to marzipan my Christmas cakes. It's snowing here in London so could do this as don't plan going out.

Thanks, Jalima. Yes re greaseproof paper but prob don't leave it as long as a week before icing. Think I've been missing a trick re this drying out.
