WW or Slimmers World?

I've tried both but I didn't really get on with SW. Do you intend to go/stay to meetings? The SW ones seen to consist of the leader reading out how much each person has lost/gained -I really didnt enjoy the meetings. However two colleagues at work are doing well on SW. Have you considered 5:2?

I lost loads with WW but have put back a stone. I go to a really good sociable group so don't want to leave that, but all the counting and pointing is so boring, especially as now have to learn new points

3 members of my extended family are doing SW and losing weight steadily and consistently without feeling on a restricted diet.

Have a look at 123 eating plan, she has a Facebook page. It's a one off fee but 24 hr support, thousands of food suggestions, and members all loose vast amounts of weight, loads of pictures on the face book page. The plan is only £20 and that's it. No membership or further cost. No pills or anything but plenty of real food.

I just looked at facebook and it looks like £59.99 for 12 months. Am I in the wrong place?

TerriAnne123 diet plan.. Pop that in the search and it should take you to the induction group. Once you join you get to the members group. I don't work for 123 by the way! I just know it's an eating plan that works. Let me know if you find the page ok.

I think that Rosemary Conley is the best.

Another vote for Slimming World from me. It's the easiest eating plan I've been on (done most of them) and it's the basis of how we eat even when we're not sticking to it 100%. I don't want to be counting, weighing and measuring every thing I eat and that's why SW suits us.

(tbh we're trying out the Low Carbohydrate Healthy Fat (lchf) approach to our eating at the moment - there is a support thread here)

I have tried both but prefer Slimming World. The eating plan is very varied and doesn't feel like a diet.

Recently Slimming World meetings just seemed to be a weigh in followed by a high pressure selling of various products - no interaction at all, however 30 yrs ago I lost 2 stone with them in a different part of the country and it was very very good. I reckon its down to the particular group leader as much as anything.

I think it could be down to the group leader too because the last time I joined a class, it was run in a slightly different way. Instead of waiting for most of the group to be weighed, at a set time group leader lead the group in what ever the subject for discussion was that week. Then near the end of the session, the awards were given out. I can't remember doing the recap of everyone's weight at all. It was much better organised and made staying to class much more worthwhile.

I have done SW for some time now. If the weight start to creep back after a purge I just go back on it - its too boring to do all the time I like a nice restaurant meal now and again. BUT it does work and its easy to do. My sister does WW and in the end they are both the same.

I jointed SW last week. Didn't fancy going to classes so I joined online. 7 days and I've lost 3 pounds, probably what I put on over Christmas but I still find it encouraging. It's interesting and much easier than I thought - so far! I haven't been hungry and I can eat loads. If you have a look at the website there is a free 7 day menu that will give you an idea.

I enrolled at SW last Friday week and lost 4 lb in this 1st week. Having no problems so far. You certainly don't need to feel hungry. Today I have had porridge, banana, egg and bacon roll, salad, fruit and yogurt. A full roast dinner even Yorkies. Loads of veg and a small pud. I will join the weight loss thread tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

I also joined SW last week and in first week put half a pound on but was still using up the butter and didn't read the book properly. All sorted now but still need to buy some bulking out food, rice, pasta and do some of the more filling meals. I have about 4 or 5 stone to lose, depending on how I feel once I get somewhere close. I'm doing it for my health but looking better will be a bonus, in my clothing and boost my confidence.

Recipes or tips very welcome please.

If you join SW online do you get the books as well or do you need to buy them as extras?

rubylady It is well worth investing in a couple of the SW recipe books.
If you are going to meeting, have a look through them and see which ones would be best for you.

I'm back on the SW regime (having done it so often I don't join now but every time a few pounds goes on I return to the plan) I've lost 6 lbs in 3 weeks - it always works for me. I have a number of the books but you can just adapt normal recipes. Some dishes were not meant to SW'd e.g. Carbonara the SW version is horrible and they sometimes make strange ersatz foods. I stick to my usual fare with the emphasis on fruit, vegetables, chicken and fish and a ,little lean red meat, brown rice & pasta in small quantities and pulses/beans/grains- wine at weekends only.
If you join SW on line you get very little unless you have the more expensive memberships when you get the magazine but not the cookery books.
