Good morning from Shropshire.Dry at the moment.

We had a lovely few hours with DGD yesterday and met a lovely lady while we were waiting for her to finish dance class. Her daughter will be going to the same high school as DGD next September. We dropped DGD home and as we were reversing out of their drive, a gust of wind caught one of their huge wooden gates and wedged it firmly against our car.DH and SIL managed to lift it off while DD slowly drove the car forward. As they live in the middle of nowhere so no street lights DGD and I were in charge of torches.DGS and the dog were unaware of the drama.Amazingly no damage to the car but what a flipping drama and that was before the storm arrives 🤦🏼‍♀️

Today our stretch and balance class and food shopping.

I hope your appointment goes well today Mick and also that you get better news from your son madeleine 🙏🏻

Glad the rat situation is sorted Marzipan but how awful for you.

Wishing everyone a good day 🌻🦩

Good morning from Durham where it’s bright but chilly. Yesterday, DD2 got through to her surgery and was told to send in pictures. She did so and within minutes, received a call telling her to go there immediately. On inspection, she was then dispatched to Newcastle’s RVI where she spent the rest of the day linked to IV antibiotics. Fortunately she was discharged last night with more meds and instructions to keep an eye on it. (as if she doesn’t). Perhaps if she rings again, her disability is red flagged. Of course, I didn’t know if I’d be needed for DGS2, so I spent the afternoon at home with my phone to hand, ready, willing and able.
Today really is an empty, although the gardeners are due late morning. I’d spent a couple of hours yesterday raking up leaves, picking up windfalls and putting spare tools and items into the shed for winter. I feel I need to do ‘something’.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from a cold and windy start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. I’ve missed posting here but I’ve been full of the cold since my return from my cruise. It wasn’t as good as I expected and I won’t be going on any more cruises, we couldn’t dock in Marseille due to the civil unrest and we couldn't get off at Barcelona due to dangerous flooding. Lots of people vomiting all over the corridors due to rough seas. A waste of good money it’ll be Tenerife from now on.
Have a good day my friends only you know who you are 💐💐

Good morning everyone. Off to my small art group this morning. I need to catch up with them all not having been for some weeks, I think they are planning a Christmas lunch. This afternoon I am meeting a friend who used to belong to the group but has moved too far to drive every week. Looking forward to catching up with all her news.
Hope the MRI goes well Mick
Best wishes

We frequently get power cuts here because the lines are through the woodlands and liable to be damaged by branches falling. Thank goodness we have the wood burner for heating.
I have emergency lamps and torches, a supply of tinned food that can be heated up on DH’s camping stove and a kettle ready.
I do have bottled water and I’m pretty sure we’d survive a few days without power, as we have in the past.
Stay safe everyone, it’s good to be prepared for the worst 🤗

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Not a bad day weatherwise but I daresay the storm will come.

One reason I didn't want to remain here another winter is the fear I have of chimneys falling and trees. Several trees on my land have fallen in previous years, including one crashing down on a neighbours house while the family were sleeping. Luckily it landed on the porch but it must have been a shock.

Yoga this morning, chiropractor appointment this afternoon i forgot to go yesterday and ceilidh dancing tonight. A new helper is due to arrive today too and a bed has been made for her. literally as I had to take a mattress off another bed.

An excellent excuse for a holiday Marzipan 🐀 😎

I'm glad your day went well Baubles

I hope you all have a good day.

Morning all from a cloudy West Oxfordshire. It’s definitely autumnal.

Yesterday was fun. The U3A lunch was good although I am used to meringue with a crisp outside and a marshmallowy middle. Surely it shouldn’t be as hard as a brick!

The WI speaker was an antiques expert. He gave a really interesting talk. There must have been over thirty ladies there - our membership is currently 50. Two or three more joined last night.

I will try to have a Covid jab today. I will ring the pharmacy and ask if they have had a delivery of Covid vaccine. If not I’ll leave it until next week unless I have one tomorrow after my haircut.

Have a good day everyone, especially those of you with difficulties.

Good morning from Stockport, wet and chilly.
I will read later but I slept in and have things to do .
I had a lovely meet-up with FGT yesterday and today I am going to Buxton on the train with my friend up the road and her friend visiting from Yorkshire.
My friend is 89 today and we are meeting her D and SiL for lunch in a fish restaurant, I am quite the social butterfly this week but everything quiet again after today.
I shall catch up with your posts later but wish you all a good day.

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE where it is 7°.
Yesterday's shopping trip was good, got the fridge restocked and a few things for the freezer.
BIL took my sister's car for a run to top up the battery, the car has been parked at mine for the last six weeks while they have landscaping work done.
DS and family are on holiday so no visitors for another week. I have plenty of reading matter and TV to watch.
Have a good day.

Good morning from a wet northwest coast. After dithering, I decided to go to the lunchtime concert in town and it was excellent. However, I had parked near the beach, (free parking) which meant a longish walk back. Fierce gales sprang up, completely destroying my umbrella and nearly knocking me off my feet. I was also drenched from head to toe, including my bit of shopping in a nylon bag.

Opera co. rehearsal in the city in the evening and truly felt like staying warm and cosy at home, but gave myself a shake and drove off. A spirited meeting as it was decided to postpone our November concerts to the spring as numbers are down and the balance isn’t right. My work on the Christmas numbers is wasted…
Usual jolly drinks afterwards and at home today, fix up travel insurance, housework and ‘phone calls.

All the best for your scan Mick, sorry your cruise was a disappointment multicolour and thoughts to all🌺

.

Overslept after a disturbed night (for no reason) but apart from some washing which will have to go in the dryer I have no plans apart from plenty of reading so whatever the weather decides doesn’t matter. Clouding up now and the forecast looks seriously damp; the wind is hurling leaves around so no point in sweeping up just yet so my conscience is clear.

Good morning from a bright chilly Co Armagh,
The washing machine is thrashing away , I got new , smaller and shorter , trousers in cord for the winter , the old ones are in pretty good condition so I washed a few , ironed and in a bag for the charity shop ,found more so that’s whats washing just now to get them in the bag and off to the charity shop ,
Left the machine on and walked up to Mass , but it has been cancelled
Yesterday was fun at the club , we played Beettle drive and we all actually remembered how to play , I won a mini mars bar !
A new cafe is opening in the square today , it will be good to have a venue for a chat. The last cafe closed for lack of staff , this one seems to have family for staff
Shell I remember lots of lovely coach trips to Killarney,!lovely hospitable spot , I do remember the coach having to find a spot to disgorge us passengers
Wishing us all a lovely day before the storm hits , take care xx

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 5°C.
I am still in bed, where I plan to remain, until I feel better.

Baubles, I am glad your day went well. I always get a boost, when I patrol the car park at church. So many people stop to chat. 🥰

Best wishes for today, Mick.

Once again we had torrential rain yesterday.
DH ran me to the surgery, because he realised, I wasn't looking too well. I had been up early to make Dollie's ♥️ breakfast and was struggling.

My prescriptions couldn't be found. The receptionist looked at the system and was unable find my request. She realised how unwell I was and said, she would print them out and try and get a doctor to sign the scripts.
However, I couldn't remember, what I had ordered. There are twenty two repeats and an additional one managed by the hospital. The queue was getting longer and longer behind me. 😧
The kind receptionist also managed to get me a telephone appointment with my favourite GP in a few weeks.
Something is just not right, I have a feeling it may be heart related.

I will briefly relate the Specsavers saga. Getting the bus, was not the best of ideas.
Three sets of temporary traffic lights, traffic jams, diversions and the town centre closed for the forthcoming Halloween celebrations, made it a long journey.

Things started well, but I hadn't considered DH putting a spanner in the works.😉
I had my appointment first; a signigificant change in prescription (in a year) two cataracts and some macular degeneration, left me feeling rather low.
I treated myself to some nice new frames to co-ordinate with my outfits 😉

When my examination was finished, DH was nowhere to be seen. On checking, the system, he was supposed to be with the ophthalmologist, but then she walked past.
The staff were in stitches, when they asked me to describe him. He is old and big and has grey hair, I said. The shop was full of large, grey haired, elderly gentlemen. 🤣

Two assistants and I went to look for him.
It turned out, that he had actually requested a hearing test! You could have knocked me down with feather.
However, when they checked the booth, he had disappeared again. The staff found it hilarious.
Eventually, I found him paying for spectacles, I hadn't vetted !!! 🤬

DH got up, ready to leave, but two dispensers intervened, You can't go, you failed your hearing test badly, you need to see an audiologist..
I was finally vindicated!
The dispenser said, that she had a lovely, fun morning working with me, many customers don't engage at all.
Laugher is such a tonic.

I mentioned that I too need a test, it was done, there and then. I too have an appointment with the audiologist! 🦻
Oh the irony.🤣

As for the mouse, it is still trying to burrow under the decking. It is a very intelligent mouse, avoiding all traps and resistant to the strongest of poisons.🤬
DH is determined to beat it!

Finally; I breathed a sigh of relief, when my stalker, (who from now on will be called, Mrs Harris) said she was going to Paris on holiday.
Last night, she posted on the fundraising chat, that she was in Paris and would not be engaging in the current discussion. 👏👏👏👏
It was a big, fat lie.

She has caused havoc, by interfering in something, that had nothing do with her. She has caused so much confusion, that our fundraising event has been cancelled.🤬
Eventually, the discussion was halted, everything went silent, this was to discourage her from posting any more messages.

I wish you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans. As always, love to my fellow mountaineers.

Grandmabatty Thu 22-Oct-26 11:15:14

Marydoll that is infuriating indeed.
