Gods morning from yet another clear, dry, dawning Bristol.
Other than serving coffee yesterday, I just sat and rested my ankle. I had two retired nurses look at it and they said that I was doing all the right things and only time would help…
Church this morning, then empty. I shall rest again.

Good morning from Malta where I may as well not mention the weather for the next week as it seems it’s going to be sunny and very hot every day. High 38°C today.

Yesterday after my exercising I felt invigorated so did a lot of cleaning and sorting out, plus stripped the bed. It is very satisfying to have a clean house, not that it ever gets very dirty, but I did a lot of jobs that don’t need doing very often like shampooing the rug.

I had sat down at around 2pm when the doorbell rang and there was DGS2 with his bag of wires saying he ‘missed Nana’ so he stayed with me all afternoon, set up his ‘office’, helped me get the sheets off the line and remake the bed. We then had a cuddle and he nodded off which was good as they had a party to go to in the evening so he needed to recharge his batteries!

Both boys are coming for a sleepover tonight, I tidied their room yesterday and rearranged it a bit so it’s all ready for them.

Mass this morning then the usual chat with my pal in Leicester who is having a lot of health issues lately. I’m worried about her. We have been friends for nearly fifty years having met when we were both working as Nannies in London.

Good morning, it’s a chilly feeling here this morning in south Glos, I had the windows wide open all night and it’s only 12° at the moment.
Yesterday I had a lovely chat and coffee with my friend, she’s very kindly said she’ll collect me from hospital, a huge weight off my mind. We sat in her beautiful garden, watching red kites, buzzards and gliders soaring overhead, so peaceful.
I am truly lucky to know her.
I did have a few tears, I’m really not used to needing help from others, she and her DH are so kind.
I tidied the freezer and cleaned the fridge, wrote instructions for DH re the dogs etc and had a good chat with my new neighbour who’s expecting her first baby - I’ll be knitting baby clothes this winter!
A pootling day ahead, lasagna for dinner with salad, homemade and my favourite meal at the moment.

Don`t mention computers, I have just spent an hour removing something called waves browser, I clicked on it yesterday and it infected my computer. Horrible. I found the remnants using ctrl +shift+esc but it has to be done while disconnected to the internet

Busy yesterday and had an unexpected doze in the afternoon. Allotment and cycling were first and it was lovely out, always someone to chat to up there.

I did not do any Marie Kondo of my wardrobe, I did tidy my kitchen and so on. The day just disappeared but I enjoyed making my new pinafore toile, so far so good. I might be finishing that today.

I intend to make a basic meal using my own produce today, the inspiration is basic comfort food from an Italian kitchen. I will be able to keep two meals in the fridge and freeze any leftover. Eating with the seasons is what this is about

I am staying close to home today, it needs to be a rest day

Yesterday we took DD to RHS Bridgewater. After a chilly start it turned into a beautiful day and DD was very impressed with the setting. The prolonged period of no rain has really taken it's toll on the plants. Some of the trees had shrivelled leaves but without the autumnal colouring.
I usually buy something in the attached garden shop but a lot of the plants were looking very sorry for themselves so I left empty handed. DH was amazed! 🤣

This morning we'll go to church. DD will enjoy catching up with folks she hasn't seen since Christmas.

How kind of your friend, RosesandLilac. When you're used to being independent it can be hard to accept offers of help, but I think people like to feel they are useful in times of need.

Today is my 79th birthday which I am spending with all 3 AC and their partners and one teenage GC plus DB. We are having lunch out and then cake here. Having a birthday in August usually means people are on holiday so I have hit the jackpot this year

Good morning all and I’m up early as I was woken by teens screaming and shouting (in fun) after a nights revelling.

So might as well get up and let pooch out and have a cuppa . Read the news (😢) and then Gransnet to see what you are all up to for the day. I love reading your ‘doings’. I enjoy this time before Dh rouses himself , peace and quiet.

I mowed the lawn yesterday , just the few areas that had sprouted and cleared some weeds. I’ll do a bit more today to fill the bin. Dustmen due tomorrow morning. We’re very lucky around here. No delays and they take everything.

Some family might pop in today sometime. We’ll see . Otherwise a relaxing day 🤞.

Good morning from Stockport.
I have had a decent night’s sleep for once in spite of a nap yesterday afternoon.
I seemed to have a busy day, Sainsbury’s delivery and the gardeners who lopped two Pyracanthas which were reaching for the sky.
Then my GS,who visits every weekend but is here for the school holiday, asked if he could move into the bedroom my GD just vacated.
I intend moving in there myself but want it decorated first so I agreed he can use it temporarily, so he and his dad did some furniture moving around.

Today it is 68 years since my H and I were married, I realise some of you weren’t even born then.
We were so very young, 22 and 21, but it lasted over 60 years until he died 7 years ago.
I am invited for a Sunday roast by my GD and her partner in their new home, the first visitor for a meal, so I have something lovely to look forward to.

I hope you all find something to enjoy today.

Good morning from Sheffield
We are off en famille to Sherwood Forest today. It’s their annual Robin Hood festival. There is a lot going on . Lots of storytellers , musicians and jesters scattered throughout the forest. We have been before, it’s a lovely day. We shall take a picnic too.
That will be about it. Last year I was struggling to walk, I was in so much pain. I had a stick and a fold up stool to sit on whenever we stopped. I’m so much better this year. A bit of pain but nothing like last year.
GrandMattie, hope your ankle recovers soon. Roses , you’re bound to feel a bit anxious, a couple if days and it will be done.

Yesterday DH shopped in Lidl then we enjoyed a quiet day indoors, in readiness for a busy week ahead. Today I’m providing holiday relief as accompanist at church for the 9.30 service. Then a neighbour is coming for coffee - her adult son is in trouble with the police and she is at a rather low ebb. This afternoon I have another rehearsal for Yes, Prime Minister.

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it’s forgotten how to rain properly. Just a few sprinkles now and again to dry and leave a dusty imprint on surfaces. I’m sure it will remember before too much longer. Our back garden is a sun trap and quite a few of my plants are suffering.
I await a text to say my son is home and we will return SDog. He wasn’t sure what time they were back when he dropped him off. I suspect he knew but kept it vague so I don’t go into panic mode if they are delayed.
CDog and DH are up and about, I have TiB and S Dog is snoring in his bed next to me. We’ll go to the woods in a short while.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle where it is currently 12°C.

As I couldn't manage a walk to the convenience store yesterday, I drove out to nearby villages, visiting the local butcher/deli for meat and 'proper' marmalade, the little supermarket for my papers and, having to pass the garden centre, I went in, vowing not to buy any plants. A new barista in the cafe made an excellent flat white and then I went out to cruise the plant area. The poor plants have suffered in the heat, many looking sad or even dead, those pots will dry out very quickly and so many to keep up with.
Well, there was a sale on....I have no more room for permanent plantings but there were a lot of lovely dahlias on special offer if you bought threes so I did. I have now put them in my partly empty raised bed and they should last until the frosts unless the slugs have a good go at them, They have been decimating the ones I raise from tubers in recent years but these may stand a chance being full grown.
I did nothing but read for the rest of the day. My calf muscle has improved but still needs care.

Today I planned to wash the car but it's no good doing that with the sun blazing down on it. It's a nature reserve for spiders at the moment. No going for a walk either as I still need to rest the calf muscle so it will be a day of frustrating inactivity.
I think I shall try a new bread recipe and continue with the new Hammond Innes book I have started plus the papers, and, if I'm feeling saintly, some boring admin.

Good Morning everyone from the sunny, central south coast. Another warm day ahead but it was cooler during the night and I didn't have the fan on.

We are going for breakfast with DD and DSiL this morning after their overnight stay locally. They were at a party for an old village friend last night. Look forward to a catch up as we haven't seen her since her trip to Melbourne and Hong Kong.

Also expecting to give a cheer up chat with DS who is still confined by the boot he is wearing to aid healing of his achilles tendon. As I knew he would, he is finding it very frustrating being, like his Dad, an action man who hates being stuck indoors. I have been trying to think of suggestions which he will not dismiss out of hand!

What a lovely friend you have R&L and just hang on to the thought that this time next week you will be over the op and well on the way to recovery! So many good wishes from your GN friends will be with you.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Sunny again! There was a cool breeze yesterday so I did a little tidying in the garden. Changed the bedclothes and they’re now churning round in the washing machine. I’ll put them out later.
No word from the DDs yesterday, they had planned to go to a theme park on the coast,no doubt I’ll hear about it later.
DGD3 is 8 today, but they’re still away so her party is next Saturday.

Good morning from a bright and calm NE Mids. Mr A completed the big gardening job yesterday and needless to say he got very sweaty and dirty in the process. A shower and change of clothes put that right and that area of garden looks so much better for his hard work. The laundry was ironed too.
Planning a steady day today with no heavy digging and no ironing either.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where its sunny and although we will have white cloud it’s not going to rain and 24°C is our high later.

I have L’il Miss beside me in bed. We slept well. She doesn’t wriggle and she said I don’t snore 😇

I’ve got TiB and she’s practising her Duolingo Spanish already - when children wake up it’s like flicking a light switch isn’t it? 🤣

Her mum is collecting her at 11am and I’m nipping into my larder for groceries for my stepfather then popping over by bus to spend an hour with him.

Late afternoon I’m meeting teacher daughter for drinks in my
favourite bar. She says she feels she’s finally on holiday now after spending a couple of days in work setting up and planning for September. We will have a couple of glasses of rosé wine together which will be lovely as it’s just time for the two of us (much as we love everyone else!)

Yesterday I had the sheets in the washing machine while I wandered round Aldi. I couldn't see what they had done in their refit apart from moving everything around. Then home to get the housework done and the sheets dried. I had a lie down in the early afternoon then up and made 6 pots of raspberry jam. It looks(and tastes) lovely.
Today will be a baking day. I shall make what is called school cake- vanilla with icing and sprinkles, then peanut butter cookies for dgs1 and double chocolate chip cookies for dgs2. If I can be bothered, I will make a sticky gingerbread too. Oh, and a boeuf bourgignon in the slow cooker.

Good morning from another sunny start to the day in Suffolk where we have the last day of hose pipe use before the ban at midnight. Our soil is heavy clay and there are large cracks in the footpaths along the fields. I’m hoping that these drought conditions don’t lead to subsidence problems with the foundations of houses.

But to a more cheery note….hope you have a lovely birthdayluluaugust with your family and a delicious lunch uttb with your granddaughter and her partner.

We have been invited to a BBQ by our neighbours this afternoon but they have reassured us of their change of plan which is to cook the food inside as they use charcoal usually.

Brunch with DD2 was lovely band we were joined for coffee afterwards by some friends.
Afterwards we heard from DD3 that our 5 year old DGS had fallen off his bike just before they left the camp site and they were on the way to A&E. Poor boy has a very swollen lip, deep grazes on his cheek, nose and the lip and has had to have two teeth removed . Several deep grazes on his legs and arms too. He gave his head quite a bump too but had his helmet on. No harm done there luckily.
We will pop up to see him later on

A quiet day for me, apart from running down to church. The P.P was stung four times by wasps, I was shocked, when I saw the state of his arm.
Fortunately, I had hydrocortisone cream, over in the church (I try to cater for all emergencies, down to the bottle of Lucozade), therefore we were able to treat him. The P.P is always amazed, at what I pull out of my bag of tricks.

Yesterday, I fell down the stairs at home a searing pain had streaked down my leg, from my right hip ( not my usual dodgy one) and my leg gave way. I got a bit of a fright, to say the least.
Later at Mass, the same thing happened again.
I don't know, what on earth is happening.
