Good morning from another relentlessly clear day. The sun is about to rise. The night are getting hotter again the cooler ones were a relief from the hot days.
Yesterday was quiet until I met DD and DS for a farewell dinner - just me and my two surviving children. DS was talking a lot about his school, which is very different to the Indian one. I’m not sure how long he’ll last there. He’s happy but finds he’s not so keen on the ethos, which tends to be rather specific in the UWCs.
He’s going back to Tanzania this morning. DD and family are leaving early tomorrow morning to Interrail all over Europe for 3 weeks.
Nothing happening today. I’ll probably sew.

Good morning from south Glos, not a sound here at the moment and it’s pleasantly cool.
I started a piece of sashiko yesterday, my first attempt and I’m enjoying it.
Tiddler and I spent most of the day in my Shed, she’s my little shadow.
Having coffee with a friend this morning, looking forward to seeing her again.
Salad for dinner, ham and cheese I think.

Good morning from Malta where the high is going to be 36° (real feel 41°C). It is not often that we have such elevated temperatures for so many days on the run, but it is supposed to return to more normal temperatures by the weekend.

I had my Treasures after summer school yesterday, I have missed them so it was a joy to have them here until 7.30. Tomorrow night they are coming for a sleepover so I’m a very happy Nana.

I have an appointment at the bank at 8.30am this morning. My usual financial advisor is currently in hospital so I don’t know the one I’m seeing today.

I’m hoping there will be a bit of a breeze to aid my walk up to the village. I feel for folk who have breathing problems as it is definitely a challenge in this heat.

grandMattie I can imagine you will be feeling sad at your son’s departure back to Tanzania. I always think of my friend’s little granddaughter who, on having to wave her Nana off from USA to Malta, said ‘ There’s nothing good about ‘Goodbye’, it ought to be ‘Badbye’’

Well, I had better go and water my surviving pot plants, poor things are gasping, although the succulents are loving the weather. I should stick to those as my geraniums have perished and my petunias are struggling.

Good morning from s somerset, it is going to be a lovely bright day

A busy and productive day yesterday and I am keeping on top of jobs, apart from dusting. I do have lots of respite sessions in my sewing room, what a haven. I tidied up my many sewing threads and ordered doweling to cut more 5" dowels for my pegboards. They are rather special beech pegboards with 18mm holes for dowels and I have lots of threads on them plus other implements

I am going to start a deep dive into my many sewing patterns soon, it is time to de-clutter the ones I know I will never use again. My shape has changed, my waist has gone and my eyes have opened. I will have to be gentle on myself but I still want challenges

I have a lovely garment in process, just a top and only in a remnant with a fault but it is turning out beautiful. It was a prototype to see if it would be suitable for my beautiful piece of fine white Belgian linen. I will finish that top today, it has been the most enjoyable process from a designer that I rate very highly for every aspect of her patterns

Today I will need to go to the allotment, watering and picking. I will also continue to sprinkle rain water into my newly filled planters of compost for my blueberries, which are being delivered tomorrow

I cut my cranesbill geraniums yesterday and my legs were well and truly bitten, horribly itchy for a while. I must remember to fully cover my legs in future

I am thinking of taking down all the bubble wrap on my windows, for storage but not quite yet. I believe that we have another heatwave early august and they have been very useful. Meantime I am thinking I will clear a shelf ready to store them for next year, anther clearing job I can get on with

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
Yesterday was a pottering about at home day.
I made a start on 1 of a 2 x1000 piece jigsaw puzzle set. They are wasgij which aren't my favourite but are popular with customers at our jigsaw festival.

The extra challenge is that the little chap got into the box a while back and managed to empty some pieces
from each of the 2 bags. I'm going to do both puzzles and then see where the mixed up pieces fit in to each puzzle at the end.

We might have a trip into our local town this morning. We have hard tiles in our hallway and I worry about the little chap bumping his head or elbows if he falls off the bottom stairs so I thought I'd look for a rug in The Range. We'll only need it for a couple of years so I don't want to invest in anything expensive.

Nice to see some new names yesterday. I enjoy having a window into other lives too. I smiled at the poster who said she imagines our accents.

Hope it's a bit cooler for you today, Bellasnana, although you sound like you have lots of strategies in place.

I expect you'll have mixed feelings about your son going back to Tanzania, GrandMattie, after having him around for a few weeks. I know you've said previously that the summer can be tough because lots of activities take a break. Hope the coming days don't drag too much.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where 23°C is forecast again. Perfect weather really.

L’il Miss is being dropped off again at 7:30am. We will have drinks in Starbucks before heading over to theirs at noon. My teacher daughter has PPA (some kind of admin time) and her Head has said she can work from home, so we will have a brew together and then I’ll walk back at 1pm. A shorter day for me!

I’ll be popping in to see my neighbour friend around 5pm. Sadly we are in the same boat (widowhood) and spending an hour or so now and again benefits us both. Birds of a feather and all that.

It is still very warm but I slept better which is a blessing, sleep seems very elusive as I age.
Grandmattie you will be sad to see your S go back but the wonders of communication these days means that at least you are in regular touch.
Karmalady you make me feel tired just reading about your days.
Most of you fill your days with so many activities, I envy you but I just have no energy or motivation.

I visited my neighbour again yesterday, I haven’t seen her for three weeks and I realise I must keep it to that, she brings me down and I don’t need that in my life any longer.

I think my GD and her partner will sleep in their new home tonight, the end of an era for me.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun doesn’t seem to be able to make its mind up!

I slept like a top last night after another busy day with GS, taming an overgrown cotoneaster hedge in the back garden and painting the fence, which we didn’t finish. We both ran out of steam. I have still another eight feet to tackle over the weekend.

Walking group this morning and then lunch with DD, after which I have a much needed haircut scheduled in the afternoon.

Good morning from a very warm Torbay.

Yesterday, we enjoyed a few hours in the company of my DS and DGS3 over a delicious breakfast in our favourite pub after which we sat and enjoyed the view from the Downs. The flower bed in the photograph was proving an attraction for butterflies and many bees which was heartening to see.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s broken cloud again this morning, yesterday was quite warm with sunny spells. I went into the local city and bought the things I wanted, then came home. After a short break I decided to wash the car, which was very dusty. It looks better now, but no doubt will be dusty again soon.
DD1 was in Manchester for a work event yesterday but should be on a train now on her way back to work. Her DH brought the Dgds to see me which was nice.
The gardener is coming again this morning and will attack the back garden. An Ocado delivery this afternoon, they get more expensive every week!

grandmattie a difficult day for you, I hope your DS has an uneventful journey back to Tanzania, do you think he will soon move on from the school he works at? You will miss your DD too, I hope they enjoy their adventure!

karma some of my hardy geraniums are looking very tired, should they be cut back now to rejuvenate them?

A busy day to come.
We have youngest DGS today , he has requested some crafting and the we’ll take him to a local park to run off some energy.
I’ll leave him with DH for the last hour asI am meeting my sewing friends for afternoon tea.
This evening is choir. There is a detour to the route due to roadwork so I’m glad it is not my turn to drive.

My lovely French helpers leave this morning. I hope I see them again some day.

I drove them to the foot of the Pentland hills and left them to climb up to see the views across to the Bridges and to Fife and make their own way back home.
I used to be able to do that climb. 😕

Last night we were invited to a friend's for a meal in her garden. It was so nice to sit until 9.30pm still light and no midges. 😉

Good Morning everyone from another sunny central south coast. 23 degrees and not forecast to be a very hot one - or a wet one!

DH's cycle club ride with his dementia suffering friend went really well. He enjoyed it and even enjoyed recalling eating fish and chips sitting on the sea wall with DH, some years ago, at the same location. But he couldn't remember how to get back home, so was accompanied there by another old friend who lives near him. Such a lovely thing to do for their friend and his wife was so grateful.

Your farewell lunch with your DS will be tinged with sadness GM as he returns to Tanzania but it doesn't sound as if he will be staying there for the long term and a new location might soon be on the cards. Our children are like baby birds who we raise to fly the nest and boy do they fly! Far and wide!

Thinking especially of all those with medical matters on their agenda ( MD) and hoping for swift and effective resolutions. For everyone else, may the day bring some relief if needed and the best day possible.

Good Morning from Durham. A cool, cloudy start and my first post has gone AWOL.
Blood tests yesterday were quick and painless, so I met DD2 and family for teatime snacks at MetroCentre later.
I have an empty, as my poorly friend isn’t up to meeting today - she has 2?ulcerated toes, is on her 3rd course of antibiotics and can barely walk. Her RA has destroyed her life.
I feel as if I should do something meaningful and constructive today, but TiB first.

No, redcar, DS is ver6 unlikely to live in the uk again; the winters are his excuse. He said that he would probably stay on for another two years. The problem is not the teaching but the complacency of the heads, and them not taking up the wonderful ethos of the UWCs. His next move is likely to be in New Mexico, in the mountains. Who knows - but he tentatively has a new GF, after 12 without one…

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and overcast Northampton, but am expecting it to burn off later.

A visit to the cataract clinic yesterday resulted in an appointment to have my second eye done in September.

I have also booked my excursions for my October cruise to the Adriatic; they become available to book on-line this week. A visit to a lemon farm in Croatia sounds good!

Then still worried about one of my cats not eating I managed to get an appointment at a branch of my vets across town; one of my lovely neighbours kindly agreed to take me. The vet did not seem unduly worried, and gave her a steroid injection to kick-start her system. However I could not tempt her to eat yesterday evening. Have been told to return if she's still not eating in a couple of days or so.

Planning on cleaning my oven this morning, which has not been done for several months..... That will be fun! I also need to wield the duster in my sitting room.

Then I need to decide which book to read next from my unread pile!

We’ve got both DGC here ( my much bigger treasures Bellas!) still fast asleep, they arrived yesterday and it’s been lovely having them to stay. They’ve been quite good and seem to be getting on better with each other at last. Sometime today their dad will pick them up and then we’ll recover for the rest of the day.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning Mick and all from a warm but cloudy Morecambe Bay. There’s not much change in the weather here.
SDog has settled in well and is definitely top dog! It’s quite funny to watch CDog give him priority as SDog is half the size of our CDog.
Both dogs are going with the dog walker to her private field this afternoon so we will get a couple of hours peace.
I ordered an extra cooling mat to be delivered yesterday. It didn’t arrive so I checked the tracking. The well known delivery firm apologies and says it will now arrive by the 27th. It’s coming from China. Grrr! I know everything comes from China these days but I thought I was dealing with a UK supplier.
It’s good to see your garden looking green and smart Marydoll . Mine looks very tired and sad. Strangely the weeds are doing well- they really took advantage while we were away. I may get chance to remove them this afternoon while the dogs are out.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Another warm day beckons.

We enjoyed The Odyssey yesterday. The cinema was pretty full but I’d booked seats.

In the evening we went out for Steak Night at one of our favourite restaurants. It was all very delicious. OH had been feeling under the weather so we left before pudding. He actually went to bed before 10 pm!

We should be going to a drinks thing later for U3A group leaders - he runs the Lunch Group. I’m not sure he’ll be up to it.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 15° C.

My plans of working in the garden came to nothing yesterday, the vertigo was very troublesome, it is probably related to myRA, it sneaks up on me with no warning, them Wham!

However, I did manage to secure an early morning appointment for DH's colonoscopy at our local hospital. No travelling all over the Greater Glasgow area for the procedure,
Last year,I had mine in the National Heart Hospital, which involved a journey over the Erskine Bridge.
I explained our circumstances and that my own failing health would nake it difficult for me, to get him there.
The booking agent was so kind and understanding,
What DH hasn't grasped is that not only is he having a colonoscopy, he is alsp having an endoscopy.
I certainly am not telling him, he is anxious enough.

We had planned going out for lunch, but neither of us are feeling well enough.
My only task is to try and repair the candle burned surplice.
