Good morning and I’m making the most of the cooler air, until the heat ramps up again.

I had a lovely birthday lunch with my friend and then Dd and DGD came in the afternoon with gifts and cake. Lots of phone calls and messages. Thanks to all gransnetters with birthday wishes. Today I meet another pal for lunch and a long chat.

I’ve done an Ocado order to be delivered early Sunday morning as we have family coming for lunch. The ordering took me over an hour and then I messed up the delivery date so had to edit. I’m not used to doing this and I would much rather go to the supermarket but DS and DIL are away this week, so no chance of a trip to our usual store.
Yes Redcar the bill is more expensive every week, but I don’t have a delivery very often.

I found out from a neighbour that our station will be having barriers installed to prevent ‘free riders’. This is really annoying For us living this side of the station. I usually pop across and over the bridge to get to the bus terminal. Now I’ll have a longish walk round to catch the bus. Someone’s really got it in for me!!! DS will be ok as he has a season ticket but it will affect so many people.

RA has destroyed her life, sums up exactly how cruel and destructive it is.

Basically, it is systemic and your body attacks itself. DH was saying the other night, that unless you have lived with someone, who suffers from RA, you can have no conception of how awful it is. 😔

However, treatment is improving all the time, so one must not give up hope.

Good morning from a sunny start to the day in Suffolk. I’m not going to my stretch class this morning as the roads around here are chaotic at the moment….all due to speed restrictions,roads closed temporary traffic lights installed. The Latitude festival begins tomorrow but,because of the chaos on the main roads last year,caravans and camper and were allowed to arrive yesterday and cars today.

The festival has increased dramatically along with the price of tickets over the years. Now the whole of the Henham estate where it is held is ringed by security officers whereas when it started 20 years ago DH would drive on to the site to drop off and/ or pick up 1 or more of our children and their friends.

We shall stay at home until Saturday I think and,if the wind is blowing in a certain direction,stand on the front doorstep and listen to strains of what DH calls ‘thumps music’.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey but warm Carlisle. It won't rain though, l know it!

Yesterday was a fairly gentle day of pottering, today will be much the same, it's too stuffy in the house to do anything really energetic. I have my mind on clothes decluttering and should really have a trawl through one of my wardrobes which is full of stuff I rarely wear, kept in case the occasion arises....it hasn't for several years!

I've been for my early walk, pleasantly fresh in the park and only dog walkers and the occasional exerciser out.
Now I'll go for my second breakfast and work up the will to empty the bins and clean the downstairs toilet....

Good morning from an overcast NE where the forecast is for 21° this afternoon.
Had a quiet day yesterday, did some admin work in the morning and sat in the garden in the afternoon.
Had a message from DS to say he isn't visiting at the weekend, I had stocked the fridge and it isn't freezable, going to have repetitive meals for the next few days.

GD has been working backstage for a production of Les Miserables, DS and DIL went last night and said it was amazing for a youth theatre company.

Thinking of Marydoll and her DH and all others struggling.

Today will probably go and collect shoes I've ordered Pavers have let me know they've arrived, just hope they are ok or it's back to the drawing board I need them for a wedding in 3wks.

Not a lot happening here today. I have to go to Waitrose and the butcher and a friend is coming for a catch up - hopefully in the garden.

Yesterday's catch up with friends was mixed. We had a delicious meal at a lovely venue with fabulous staff. Sadly, one of our friends was very deaf and not really with us. His wife had no patience with him at all. Dh came away quite distressed.

Dentist yesterday, two molars to come out, I’ll schedule that in after I’ve seen the hip man on Monday.
Mince defrosting to have with pasta tonight, I’ll tinker with the grocery list for delivery tomorrow.

Had a lovely meal at one of my favourite restaurants last night, not looking forward to cooking tonight.

Not sure what I shall be doing today, it is warm but cloudy, so no beach today. Probably a pottering day, maybe make a start on clearing out a kitchen cupboard or four.

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
The concert went well last night and I managed to squeeze myself into my concert frock, the look abetted by a black silk hanging belt. I’m finding it harder to remember my words, with the opening lines in biro on my palms. These days I don’t spend hours practising, which is part of it. Small opera companies find it hard going and I wasn’t keen on the programme, dratted musicals taking over even opera companies. There’s a general dumbing down these days. The West Side Story section was good though.

I didn’t go to the usual get together afterwards as I’m off to Windsor today to DDs and must arrange things here plus final suitcase stuff. DS is going to pick up my car here on the 26th and drive down for my BILs funeral and I’ll come back with him, going down by train. I’m taking a taxi to the station. It’s more complicated than my usual regular trips south and I’m always tired after a concert.

Thankfully the garage door is now working too. My DS is under strict orders not to leave the cat in the house. It’s shared with next door, having come from them and they are feeding it. It’s chipped for them and I have no cat flap. Last year it was trapped in the garage loft after my DSs’ visit…Thankfully I was back the day after.

Karma, it needs to be invisible, all white. I suggested I get one of the spares from the church, but the sacristan is rather attached to this surplice.
The P.P proposes to by new vestments: cassocks and surplices for the re-opening of the church. This is to keep us going until then.
The sacristans' vestments are forty years old and rather tired, just like me! 😉

My agapanthus seem to be thriving in the heat!

Good morning from rather overcast South Lanarkshire.

Just putting things together for a picnic at a large play park wth the three children. The youngest is just like his Dad, runs too fast, too far, climbs anything regardless of whether that’s the intended purpose and is generally a bit of a handful. Wishing reins were still a thing!

Reins are still a thing in this household, Baubles. We started them before he really needed them so they're just accepted by the little chap.
His parents don't believe in reins or wrist straps, but they aren't the ones taking him out and about and needing to keep him safe.

It's trickier when you're not fully in charge, though. Have fun at your picnic!
