Good Morning Everyone,
Its light but with a grey looking sky over Brackley this morning.
Usual bus to Bicester to shop and maybe say hello to those I know.
Will watch Tour De France team presentation on TV later .
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Bristol. There was a shower in the night, but the chance of rain is receding.

FAB cafe live concert was successful, about 70 attended. The sponsor who is also an AgeUK volunteer, said that as they were so successful, he would sponsor more in the autumn. I suggested that after Christmas would be better as that was the dreariest time of year and people needed something to look forward to. AND we shall have heating! It is being installed in a fortnight.

A quiet afternoon resting as I was very tired. Having finished my African print skirt, I’m assembling the other patchwork where, idiotically, I had made twice as many squares as needed.

T’ai chi this morning then dinner with DD and family.

Oh, one of the residents put a call out yesterday evening to ask if anyone wanted some trout fillets as “he had too many to fit in his freezer”! Yum.

Have the best day possible, y’all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🎈🎈🎈

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 31°C (Tuesday reached 41°C so a lot cooler now). It’s going to be windy as well.

Thank you for all the birthday greetings, I appreciated each and every one of them.

Had a tiring day looking after the boys as DGS2 was a poorly boy with fever and vomiting. I can’t bear it when they are ill. I said to him ‘I’m so sorry you’re feeling so poorly’ and he said ‘It’s ok Nana, it’s not your fault’😭

After DD3 got home, I took DGS1 back to mine. He eventually had a nap so I was able to watch the last set of Sinner’s match.

They all came to pick him up, insisted I have candles on my slice of cake, and sang Happy Birthday.

I had lots of messages, FaceTime calls with DD2 and DGD who are in the Ozarks for a softball tournament. It looks beautiful there. DD1 also called briefly in between doing MRI’s on her patients.

I received beautiful flowers amongst other things, and the most lovely card that looks like a bowl of peonies. Have never seen one like it.

Today I’m thinking of my late sister who would have been 74 today. She’s missed so much in 20 years. Life ain’t fair.

I’ve got the boys again today, not sure if I’ve to go there or if DGS2 is well enough to come here. I await instructions!

I’ve been awake since 3am so I’m already tired. Looks like a fun day in store! Maybe get to watch some tennis later.

Photos of my flowers, the peony card, and an amusing message from my two grandpups in the US!

Wishing a good day to all🤗

I’m so pleased you had a good day, “bellas”. Lovely/amusing cards.

Good morning from s somerset, very windy today, sunny

A fab and very full day yesterday. I did the extended cycle ride to and from the allotment. Finished my coat and it is now hanging in a moth-proof cover, also made my last amara vest from some left over grey boiled wool. Satisfying to know that the three I have made are for the DDs and Dil in December

I will never buy boiled wool again, it has been a marathon but at last the big, zipped bag standing in my spare room is now empty and put away, only been there since april 2019. The best bit was cleaning my sewing room and throwing the machine needle away

The coat fits well and looks lovely, Tessuti Brooklyn. That fabric was from Germany and is warm and weighty

My expensive Tefal steam generator iron died, I found my order on JL site, 5 years ago and that model has been withdrawn. I finally decided on a different model from the JL site but also looked on the Tefal site, they have an anniversary sale and I bought it, 40% off plus it was cheaper than JL I saved a shed load of money on that, almost 50%. It is an important tool for my sewing and I was chuffed. I have already been to tip, the generator is big and heavy

I am taking life easy today, I was prepped to pre-wash some delicious new fabric lengths but it is far too windy, the viscose twill would be battered and twisted on the line. I need to wash and dry the fabric exactly how I would handle the garment, viscose shrinks a lot, maybe 10%. These are destined for dresses that I have already tested via toiles and quite likely to be Atelier Jupe patterns

The birds were loud again, they woke me too early

Happy belated birthday Bella

RosesandLilac Thu 02-Jul-26 05:43:05

That sounds like a lovely birthday Bellasnana
Good morning! It’s drizzling here on the hillside in south Glos, very welcome for the garden; I’m so glad I cracked on with clearing some of my borders before it rained.
I do have one more to tackle plus tidy my pots so that’s planned for tomorrow.
I have to get myself organised as well as sort out everything for DH and the dogs if my surgery is likely in the next few weeks.
List writing will start today 😁
It’s all getting a bit scary really…..
Off for a jolly afternoon today, another trip to hospital for bloods and a sigmoidoscopy sounds like a bag of fun doesn’t it!
Anyway, all’s well for the moment, I hope you all have a good day x
🌹

RosesandLilac Thu 02-Jul-26 05:45:10

Gosh Karma, that’s a beautiful coat 😍
I’m fascinated by your dressmaking, you’re clearly very skilled.

Melanie61 Thu 02-Jul-26 05:50:12

Good morning from Sheffield
Karmalady, your coat is beautiful. You are so clever to be able to sew so well.
My mother could sew. She made me two beautiful going away tailored suits when I got married. Does anyone else remember having a trousseau? We weren’t in the slightest bit well to do, but I still had a couple of suits.
The family are here for tea. A simple Spag Bol as my DH and DS are going to see a comedian in town and are away early.
I am seeing my osteopath this morning so I expect to be a bit sore later.
Take care everyone flowers

Good morning from a grey, breezy N Surrey. It's cool but not as fresh and chilly as yesterday morning.

I defrosted our medium sized upright freezer yesterday and was ashamed at how much thick ice there was. It must have been struggling to freeze for ages and using twice as much electricity. All empty now and ready for a wipe round and drawer replacement.

Then re freeze...hopefully as it is a 30 year old Bosch. All the white goods are that age or older. Looking at the receipts for them all, tucked into their manuals, to replace them now would be about the same price! Isn't that strange. I must look on line and check I am not spouting rubbish. Often do.

Even their manuals are well produced. Good pictures, laminated covers and in several languages. Not a scrappy bit of paper with just pictures or no manual at all.

A pottering day. Love the peony card BN. I have never seen one so lifelike. I had to look closely and even then wasnt 100 % sure.

A cup of coffee and then check the Premium Bonds and Wordle.

Bellasnana Thu 02-Jul-26 06:16:10

Thinking of you this afternoon RosesandLilac. Hope it won’t be too unpleasant.🙏🏻

grandMattie Thu 02-Jul-26 06:18:38

All the 🤞best, r&l, a bundle of fun as you say, but if it’s going to put your mid at rest…

HelterSkelter1 Thu 02-Jul-26 06:18:46

I love the coat karmalady. A beautiful red and such an elegant wearable design. I do like boiled wool. I have an old East jacket in navy boiled wool and wore it a lot indoors this winter as it was so light and soft, but so warm.

You must get a lot of pleasure and satisfaction from your sewing.

Marzipan22 Thu 02-Jul-26 07:06:56

Good morning from the Wirral where I'm in a hotel with a view of the sea which is lovely. I've come to support my daughter while her husband is in hospital. It took 12 hours via bus and trains door-to-door yesterday and for a while I sat next to a lady who worked in the travel industry and who knew and liked Kirkenes on the Norway/Russia border, as do I, so we had a great chat. I thought of you and your husband as we passed Crewe Ash.

At Liverpool Lime Street a young employee carried my suitcase down the two escalators to the Wirral line (without being needed 😃) and told me his life story (without being asked 😃). It's so good to be back among Scousers and their humour, my son-in-law being one of them.

Today he is being moved to a different hospital so I assume my daughter and I will visit. I'll stay until he comes home though we've no idea when that will be.

Happy Birthday Bellasnana. I'm glad you've come back. I was vilified once on GN, for saying something true about tourists in Cornwall during lockdown and felt very wounded.

The photo is from my journey yesterday.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 02-Jul-26 07:11:02

Good morning from an overcast corner of Essex. We are expecting another heatwave.

The cleaning fairies are here this morning, I need to sort out food shopping list, and maybe go to local shops.

I am still not sleeping (flipping but necessary steroids, I guess) so nothing too strenuous will be happening.

The 11 yr old will be coming for his weekly sleepover.

Pleased you had a good birthday Bellasnana hope your little GS is better soon.

FGT2 enjoy your happy place 🙋‍♀️

monk08 Thu 02-Jul-26 07:14:45

Good morning all from the Black country where the sun is shining after overnight rain.
Love the peony card Bellas very lifelike, hope Dgs2 is feeling better today.
Small local shop and we have planned to eat out again later.
All the best for this afternoon RosesandLilac.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans 😎

Good morning from a very windy Durham, but it’s also bright and sunny.
Case packed, Little Dog to take back to DD2’s, then her DH will drop us off at Newcastle airport for our flight to FGT’s happy place - Malaga. Just a long weekend, but looking forward to it and perhaps some serious conversations, without the interruptions from DGS2. Needing assistance, we have to check in an hour earlier than the rest of the flight, but often find we still board at the same time - it can be chaotic, depending on the turnaround time.
Her new Blue Badge finally arrived yesterday with not a word of apology or explanation as to why it had been refused - it’s a good job she applied back in April.

Thats a lovely card Bellas I’d keep that out on display.

Best wishes to all. X

Astitchintime Thu 02-Jul-26 07:29:48

Good morning from a very windy NE Mids. Apart from the usual quick tidy up and clean I have some clothing alterations to do today but that is a priority as the customer needs it for the weekend.
Apart from that I’ll be pottering in the garden.
Have a good day one and all!

EkwaNimitee Thu 02-Jul-26 07:34:54

Good morning Mick and everyone from cool, grey Carlisle where it is about 14°C.
I went out for a drive yesterday thinking to walk in Whinlatter forest. As I drove south, I soon spotted the usual clouds hovering over Keswick and sure enough it started to rain. I parked up at the visitors centre in the forest and had coffee. The rain paused then started again as I set off walking...that fine, penetrating sort of rain. I was wearing my waterproofs but soon thought 's*d this, I'm not a holiday maker, I can do this on a better day' so I enjoyed a different route back to Carlisle, where, naturally, it had not been raining at all!
Today, catch up on the housework then catch up on the reading plus I might get out in the garden to at least do some deadheading and maybe plant something.

Have the best possible day everyone.

ginny Thu 02-Jul-26 07:35:27

Good morning.
Glad you enjoyed your birthday Bellasnana.
Yesterday’s trip to Fowey was successful and did include a boat trip. We then drove to Charlestown for a wander and tea.
Today we are going to find out what ‘Emily’s. Story ‘. is all about.
Hope you can all enjoy your day.

Gelisa Thu 02-Jul-26 07:35:49

Good morning all from a wet and windy Morecambe Bay . It should improve weather wise as the day goes on. I hope so as I’m driving up the M6 to Cumbria to meet a friend for a catch up. DH will take CD for his groom while I’m away. I won’t recognise him when I get back.
We got a phone call yesterday from the garage cancelling the urgent recall we had booked for the car as they are changing ownership! It will be August before it can be done as we are away next week. Our local main dealer has lost its franchise so we have a long trip now to get anything done so we will get the service and MoT done at the same time. It will be out of warranty after that so in future it can be looked after by our local garage.
What a long journey you had Marzipan . Good to pass some of the time with someone. I hope all goes well for your SiL, and you are not too worn out. I find travelling really tiring these days even if I’m not driving. Not that I let it stop me!
Wishing the best for R&L now things are finally happening.
Take care everyone 🌸

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bit cloudy and looks windy today
Lovely to see you posting Bellas and what beautiful flowers and cards. Sorry to hear one of your little treasures is poorly, hoping he’s much better soon
I had a busy day yesterday but today there’s nothing planned, I’m going to potter in the garden and carry on doing bits and bobs inside. I’m not sure what yet but there’s lots to keep me busy
Hoping all goes well this afternoon roses
Hoping your SIL is better soon marzipan
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Redcar Thu 02-Jul-26 07:37:47

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s quite cloudy at the moment but the sun is trying to poke through the grey. A cool breeze too, which disturbed me in the night. The house is a bit cooler now, just in time for the next heatwave.

Yoga yesterday left me feeling quite achy, but hopefully today it will be better. I’m out to lunch with my niece and her DH today and I’m looking forward to seeing them.

rosesandlilac I hope your sigmoidoscopy goes well this afternoon.

karma your coat looks beautiful, you are so talented!

bellasnana I’m pleased you had an enjoyable birthday yesterday, I loved your birthday cards! I hope your DGS is better today.

marzipan that was a marathon journey to your DD’s. I hope that your DSiL makes a swift recovery.

Thinking of all those who are ill or upset in any way.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a chilly Leicestershire where it has rained.
I had to nip out in my PJs!

Doggy has now returned home so the place is very quiet. We miss his grunts.
Today we are meeting friends at the local Heritage Centre and hoping it will be warm enough to sit out.

After that I must sort out our EV charger as I managed to disconnect it from the internet yesterday and of course clean the house of dog before the cleaners come tomorrow!

Bellasnana flowers
Thinking of you today Rosesandlilac.

BlueSapphire Thu 02-Jul-26 07:47:51

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 but very windy Northampton. Supposed to be quite cool today.

Had a busy-ish day at home yesterday: spent some time on my knees in DD's bedroom spot cleaning the carpet as I discovered one of the cats had been sick several times, and also had to soak and wash a large corner of a duvet for the same reason! I must now get the duvet cleaned at Timpsons but I could not have taken it in the state it was in.

Got a nice load of washing done and dried on the line, and then draped the big duvet over it to dry in the breezy sunshine.
Next job was to deal with a Sainsbury's delivery.

After lunch tackled the ironing: three dresses, four tops and three pairs of linen trousers - I also shortened one pair of the trousers. That is the first lot of ironing I've done since last year - I think my iron and ironing board must have been quite surprised to see daylight!

After reading Karma's post yesterday about her dangerous Tower air-fryer I decided to check my Tower air-fryer and sure enough it was on the list! I went onto their website, submitted my details and a photo of the model number etc. and have accepted an offer of a brand new up-graded air-fryer, which they will send me. Thank you Karma!

A morning of gentle pottering including getting a Bolognese into the slow cooker, then out to the optician after lunch to have a post-op cataract check on my eye. Hoping for some advice that I can now resume normal activities, and also wear eye make-up again! Hopefully will now be referred for my second eye.

Wishing everyone a pleasant peaceful day.
