When he is an official at a formal event, for example, the Chelsea flower show, he still manages to loom as if he’s just got out of bed in whatever he is wearing! It really gets up my nose! Can’t the man make an effort? Anyway. End of rant.

The award for sartorially elegant, not a hair out of place, wouldn’t be seen dead in crumpled linen gardener, is sitting on Alan Titchmarsh’s mantelpiece.

You do know that Monty Don is widely considered as a style icon? He’s a cool dresser, and of course, what he wears keeps him cool too. There’s nothing wrong with a rumpled linen jacket at all. It wouldn’t look right on the King though, because he’s short and dapper, not tall and rangy.

Well I certainly don't know anyone who takes their style tips from Monty Don. He wore what looked like the same suit throughout Chelsea, it started off crumpled and ended up extremely crumpled - maybe he never took it off? Certainly had the rumpled look of a pair of week-worn pyjamas. As for that silly scarf he wore with it in some days...just ridiculous. He may be a gardener - so is DH but I wouldn't want him at Chelsea in his old gardening trousers, scruffy wellies and ancient wax jacket! The King may be very warm in whatever he's dressed in but he does look smart & cool in the "not hot" meaning of the word. Oh, and DH rarely wears short sleeves but he's definitely not posh!!

A peasant's smock with string belt, beanie hat, clogs and straw in the teeth would be appropriate for a gardener (Mr Don) but maybe not for the King. On the other hand, they could make a double act of it, like the two Ronnies.
