A tour of Louisiana and the southern States. A trip up the Mississippi. Eating crawfish. Experience Cajun food and visit New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Australia! Always wanted to go, to see the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru it’s way beyond me now I wouldn’t have the stamina.

Been to both those places.

Pleased I went, but would have no desire to return to them.

Southern Africa. Some of my family went a few years ago but it may have been a bit too much at my age. They had a great experience there.
My GS is fulfilling his desire to go to Australia. He is on holiday from university and will work on a cattle ranch there for about six weeks.

A safari in somewhere like Botswana. Never got around to it. Not sure if I’d be up to it now although my old school chum, same age as me is doing it right now.

Yemen, I have seen so many photographs of the walled cities and houses. At one point it was achievable, but the political and security state started crumbling just as we were getting the brochures.

I can see no immediate end to the civil conflict there - and DH's heaalth would not be able to cope with it.

China, DH and DSs have all been, but work got in my way. DH won’t do long haul now, so I’d have to go on my own. I haven’t completely given up yet!

I would have loved to go on a Nile trip and visit Valley of the Kings. Never will now obviously.
when I retired just prior to my 70th birthday decided to spend a lump sum. Could have done this trip, or have an en-suite built into my bedroom. Decided to do the latter - and do not regret that decision - enjoyed it daily (and nightly!!).
Thanks to TV, I have been able to see so much of the Nile and the Valley of the Kings from the comfort of my living room.

Petra and Machu Pichu. I was lucky enough to visit Antarctica and would also love to travel the North West Passage. Never had the money to travel when we were bringing up our family. I’ve tried to pack a lot in since they grew up but some places have escaped me.

Hong Kong and Singapore. I have no ides =a why I didn't go when I was younger and fitter, I had the money.

The far east, Japan, and Canada.

So many places have now passed me by, too far or too expensive or both!

DH and I would have loved to visit all of the above.

A dear old (wealthy) friend has just returned from an amazing world cruise with the Silverseas group. She left on January 2nd and returned just 10 days ago. She sent me updates from every port and some lovely photos.

She’s travelled with this cruise line for two decades and has the best times. She lives in a beautiful villa in the Douth of France.

But, despite two marriages and two long term relationships, she lives alone, she desparately wanted children, but alas it never happened. She lost her only sibling last year, very unexpectedly from a heart attack and both her parents are dead as are all of her aunts and uncles. So terribly sad.

So despite her amazing, interesting glamorous life I’d rather have mine with my wrecked sofas (dogs) and five children and (so far) one grandson.

I still love hearing about her travels though.

Yes, TV and the internet have allowed me to “virtually” travel and o feel it’s the next best thing

I used to have a yen for Iceland, but no longer.

As well as living overseas for years, Dh and I have done a great deal of travelling all over, and it sounds really old and boring now, but I no longer have a yen for anywhere. At least part of the reason is an increasing loathing of airports, planes and particularly jet lag, though I would still fly across the pond to visit a sister in Cape Cod.

The Canadian Rockies

I agree with you about airports. They just get worse and worse and the staff seem to get more and more annoying, too. I suppose they have a hard time of it but the odd smile wouldn’t go astray.

I'm with SpinDriftCoastal. I have visited several parts of the USA, and this area was on my wishlist. However, the double whammy of COVID, followed by the election of Mr Trump has taken me past the age that this seems feasible.

Parts of the USA. Nashville, the southern states, Oklahoma, up the Mississippi on an old boat. Doubtful we will do that now.

On the plus side we will visit Australia and New Zealand later this year to catch up with family.
