Do you leave reviews for items bought on line?
(64 Posts)I rely a lot on other people’s reviews if I’m buying something on line, particularly from Ocado. It occurred to me that I should be leaving reviews myself because I’m using other people’s. Do you leave reviews, and I don’t mean when you’ve been asked to, just to give your opinion to others.
i understand that shops are closing and i would like to go back to seeing what i am buying but i can't, i am disabled and use a walker, i also have bowel and bladder problems and lyphedema so shopping online is the only way i can buy items that i need, how would i get 2 x 24 packs of toilet rolls back home with no car and using a walker.

Now we know why high street shops are closing!
It’s a vicious circle though.
2 of our big city stores and one out of town store closed in the early days of the Internet shopping.
The more stores closed, the more the internet prospered.
The more the internet prospered, the more stores closed.
Then the councils thought it was a good idea to put up parking charges.
Now we’re left with phone shops, vape shops, nail bars, pound shops, charity shops and eateries.

We do buy quite a lot from Amazon because we have Prime, usually if we can’t find something in the local shops and because it is so easy to send things back. I do leave a review if there are very positive or negative points that might help others but they do ask for reviews too quickly.
i buy a lot from amazon and some other online retailers, my reviews for some go on trustpilot, amazon are very picky if you leave a bad review, i bought a cardigan and it came vacuum packed, it was not an item that could be ironed, i put on the review how it came but amazon would not let the review be published, i think something like that should be said as it would have stopped me buying it and wasting £18 for something that is still full of creases after months of hanging.
Yes, always for whatever l buy or l am thinking of buying. I know you can get fake reviews but find a lot are genuine and can be very helpful.
Don't do Amazon at all. Don't like the way they operate and treat their supliers and undercut prices.
Never do home deliveries.
I also find the product information to be very useful. I only do Click and Collect with about five retailers so this is handy feature for me.
TripAdvisor can also be useful.
Oh thanks!
Does it include the one from man trying Nair on his nether regions? I just looked at the first of those reviews "My husband doesn't allow me to write..."
I'll need to sit with a,cuppa (and a torch, and my glasses) and have a read in daylight.

I like the ones that say "I ordered this last Wednesday, or maybe Tuesday, because i always take mum shopping on Wednesdays since she isn't as mobile as she was since she had a bad fall last Christmas, or was it Easter" and that kind of thing
Ah yes, I enjoy those as well.
There's some fabulous reviews here. Excellent one about a woman getting her girlie pen

I leave reviews for something that is fantastic or something that is dire. I get cross when I see silly reviews telling me the Amazon delivery driver was grumpy. That's got nothing to do with the product.
I leave reviews only for exceptionally good or exceptionally bad experiences.
Otherwise I'd spend half my life online reviewing products.
I realise the value of reviews otherwise there'd be no Trustpilot. I 'd do more if the reviews requested weren't so length and detailed.
yes always leave reviews good or bad. I am not rude but if something is not up to scratch then I think it is fair to let other buyers know what is what. For instance I recently bought some little plastic baskets to put odds and ends in the bathroom like shampoo etc. It is a well known site beginning with A so I said something like one was already broke, picked up another nothing in it and it broke as well. bit smaller than I thought not very good value. it should hopefully save someone money. I also do good reviews if deserved
No, I do not. I have better things to do with my time than to provide firms with free adverts. I also delete those infuriating e-mails asking if I was satisfied with the way my recent enquiry was handled, with the commodity I have just bought etc, etc.
Do they honestly believe we have time to answer all that?
If I am NOT satisfied, they can be certain I will be in touch, as indeed will many others.
I quite often leave reviews for online purchases, good or bad. Amazon has never refused one.
What really drives me up the wall is when you get asked “How did we do?” etc when you’ve only done a bit of food shopping! M&S is fond of this. Every time I go there for food, they follow up with an email asking me to rate my visit. I do ignore these!
Yes, I always try to find something positive to say but don't hold back with the negative points.
Yes I've left hundreds of reviews. Usually when I'm prompted to from Amazon and also I've put a lot on Trustpilot. I also put them on supermarket products that I've bought. I find it very useful to look at them before I buy anything. Also restaurant reviews. I've just had a really bad experience with a local Indian restaurant takeaway. It's normally excellent and my daughter has used it countless times and when I had my other daughter and her partner here recently I ordered a takeaway. They are vegetarian and what they ordered didn't say it had chicken in, but it did and another dish was supposed to have rice with it which didn't turn up, and another rice I ordered didn't turn up. The chicken dish I had wasn't the same as normal and the chicken was dry. I'm wondering if they have a different chef. My daughter rang up and the man was very rude to her and was shouting at her. I spoke to him and he was rude to me as well, but did say that he would refund the money and that was about 10 days ago and I've not received it, so I'm now having to ring my bank to claim it back. I rang the bank yesterday, but there was a 40 minute wait on the phone so I will have to call back. It is a pity, because I live in a small village, so there isn't a lot of choice with takeaways. And yes, I did do a bad review on TripAdvisor. It was what they deserved. I noticed there were a lot of bad reviews on there saying the same thing that they used to be excellent, but now they're terrible and there are loads of one star reviews. I checked their menu today and they still haven't altered the dish that is incorrectly listed as vegetarian.
Bazza I do, I think it’s important but always subjective 🌷
I often leave reviews but always make sure they are honest and always try to say both positive and negative points if possible. I never slate a company or product, but if I have found something really bad I would try to make a helpful comment that could make the service/product better.
I do read reviews before buying, looking to see how many are positive helps and particularly what it is that makes the product good, but negative comments I find less helpful if they seem to have been written in a rage or maliciously. If a comment is wholly negative amongst a lot of positive comments I tend to disregard it.
I read reviews and take some with a ouch of salt. I always leave honest reviews of hotels but but always on other online buys. Where there's been exceptional service that's always posted. What I dislike and can't understand is being asked for a review immediately after placing an order. Err hello!!!
Ditto
Sometimes
I used to. I only left reviews if I was happy with the product. I wouldn’t leave negative reviews, I’d rather just not leave a review at all.
Now I don’t leave reviews at all. They’ve sent me the products, I’ve sent them the money. I don’t owe them any more than that so why are they asking for more from me? I’m not asking more from them. Life is too short to be writing reviews.
I was asked to leave a review by sainsburys - i bought loo rolls!! no i didn't leave a review!
too many times have i been asked how my visit to the gp surgery went. no i didn't leave a review.
and i've been badgered so many times by so many websites for reviews that I don't leave reviews any more.
I do leave reviews, positive and negative. Often online grocers ask for reviews of drivers after deliveries and I make a point of saying if they were helpful and friendly.
It is a bit frustrating if you can't alter or delete a review later if the product turns out not to be so satisfactory as you can't usually leave a second review.
