Also the people swimming in ponds in nature reserves and scaring the birds sitting on nests.

The disgusting people who leave tons of rubbish behind in scenic areas and on beaches so others have to clean up after them.

Weirdly I don't know anyone who does these things 🤔 - so who are all these people? I'm pretty sure one of my GSs is one of them, even if he denies it.

I laughed when I saw a video of a man who parked on a beach despite signs saying not to take cars on the beach. Some locals were standing on the wall above the beach yelling at him that he shouldn't take his car on the beach. He sat there with his campfire, his wife and child on little stools cooking sausages as the tide came in around them and bogged his huge, shiny, 4x4 down. His family were fine, there were steps behind them up to the top of the wall behind the beach. I know it's mean to laugh but I bet he wishes he'd taken notice now. I wonder if the insurers paid out on his written off car.

Yes, well done that farmer! An excellent response, which wouldn't damage the cars but would be a lot of fun for the owners to remove!

I would have laughed out loud selfish ignorant arrogant people get what they deserve.

We live in London which boasts some beautiful green spaces but was sad to see that those visiting these parks over the bank holiday had left so much rubbish, and there are more than enough bins.
And they often deposit their rubbish in our bins at the front of our properties.
People behave in such an entitled way and have seen it when people holiday abroad as well. Is no wonder certain popular destinations abroad are demanding legislation to prevent certain big tour operators like Tui from buying over hotels for all inclusive holidays.

Our coastal town was beset by large groups on one day at the weekend. Over several hours they fought, intimidated families, caused noise pollution, left piles of rubbish and disappeared again. The frustration locally is in spite of numerous reports there was no attempt by the police to intervene. It’s so sad the minority spoil things for the majority.

I live in a coastal town that doesn’t have the greatest reputation. To be honest most of the rubbish is caused by lazy visitors even though there are hundreds of bins. Who thinks it is acceptable to leave a dirty nappy at the side of the road! Visitors also drink too much and fight with each other so please stop blaming only the residents.

I too live in a very coastal town (errr City!).

Loads of people pour in from London and beyond, it would seem some not only leave rubbish but injuries to people.

I wonder so much what is wrong with (some) people these.

Indeed. A few years ago the litter outside our local primary school was a disgrace. It’s a large school with nice shrubs on the front and they were strewn with sweet wrappers and crisp packets. I suggested to the Head that maybe some of the kids could do a supervised litter pick. He was not in the least bit interested. What a world indeed!

Yesterday our local news issued photos of a middle aged woman walking her dog on a beach. The dog was off the lead and it ran off into a fenced off area where ringed plovers and oyster catchers are nesting. It was clearly signed as such. She then ran into the area to try to catch her jack russell no doubt trampling nests and eggs.

A few years ago whilst hiking in the Langdale area we came across two youths dismantling a stone bridge and throwing the stones in the river, they were in the care of two women.

When my husband approached the women they told him they couldn’t help it they had ADHD.

We called the Police who later informed us they were on a local authority weekend away from Liverpool staying at a Youth Hostel.

The two women were social workers, who thought their actions were acceptable.

Sad isn't it? Programmes like 'Springwatch' try to teach us to care for wildlife and the environment but the very people causing the problems would rather watch rubbish like 'Love Island' and the like, so it's never going to get through to them unfortunately

I live just outside the Lakes and these people are becoming a real problem, parking on both sides of narrow roads so bigger traffic can't get through. Last summer, buses were being cancelled for this reason. And what if an ambulance or Mountain Rescue were required?
The Lake District Authority needs to get a grip and make a lot of these roads access only and get more park and ride schemes going.

The behaviour of tourists seems to have definitely declined since Covid, that's very noticeable.

Thanks for posting this, I missed it when first published. I've seen some bad parking in my time (as a heavy goods vehicle driver) but this wins gold for stupidity. Not just stupidity either. Arrogance as well, judging by the abuse directed at RNLI staff.

Shocking. As for the farmer, I can’t say I blame him. The sense of entitlement of those parking uninvited on his field is ridiculous. Same as those blocking roads in beauty spots, as recently reported.

I used to pass a post box on the way home from work. It was directly next to a zebra crossing. Drivers (yes, plural) would park on the crossing itself (not the zig-zags) to post their letters. Absolutely ridiculous.

One day when I lived on the coast some wonderful person moved the bins keeping my double gates closed & parked in my front garden. One of my neighbours tried to talk to him but was sworn at & asked what he was going to do. So my lovely neighbour waited till the people were out of sight, taking their children to the beach obviously with spades & buckets! Then he let down their back tyres! Big row on their return, banging on my door. I answered them through an open window. Took them hours to sort out the car so they could leave. Bet that they didnt do that again. At least they did not do it again to me thanks to my clever neighbour.

A friend told me of a woman who drove her brand new large 4x4 onto an area ANOB. She got stuck on a sand dune . She called the police who rescued her car . The car was crushed. You can imagine the local reaction.

I live in rural Cumbria and it is a big problem, Lots of car parks but people don't want to pay. We need tourist's but unfortunately there are lots of entitled people and are also quite demanding with what they expect.

I sympathise entirely with the farmer.

I used to live in Sandwich where a three day festival was celebrated each month from May to August. Items packed. I was very impressed the way that every scrap of rubbish was removed by the next morning. Yes, there were giant bins everywhere , but nevertheless the council made sure it was spotless by the next day.

I live in Hove : it to mention the litter lours on our beaches? What gives these people the right to leave their mess on our beaches! Can’t imagine what their mucky homes must be like!

In our town several of the big litter bins have been removed. Goodness know why.

We have a street cleaner who does his very best to clean the streets, but the rubbish from Sat and Sunday nights is shocking. They could take it home with them of course. But they dont. Whether they would actually use the litter bins is a bit doubtful,but their absence doesn't help.
I have empty bottles pushed into my lavender bushes!!

Reading about the head not allowing children to pick up litter outside the school...there could be a worry about needles and dangerous and nasty things. But they should be allowed/forced to pick up litter in the school playground. Each class could take a turn and have proper litter pickers and bags.

I live in a market town that's well & truly on the tourist trail. Definitely noticed it's a lot busier since after covid. I agree with others, many people visiting leave their manners behind at home. Sorry to say campervaners are the worst, maybe because when I was a child people had vans filled them with supplies and drove off into the wilderness 😂Now they cause mayhem parking or trying to park in our medieval town. Don't get me started about them parking in random places which block roads & visibility 🫣 Three cheers for that farmer 👏!!!
