I am not going to moan about the glorious weather but sleep had been a challenge!

I have shut windows, closed curtains and blinds during the day then opened windows after sunset, yet the upstairs of our wonderfully energy efficient home still feels like a sauna.

We sleep on Egyptian cotton sheets with an empty Egyptian cotton duvet cover and have an Airblade whirring all night and still we are sweltering.

Are there any tricks I am missing?

Praying the Easterly breeze will bring respite tonight.

My routine in this heatwave is a very cool shower before bed, after which I dry myself and spray with lavender water and spray the bed with White Company white lavender spray. It does seem to work and I keep the fan on low all night. My DH doesn’t mind this routine as he sleeps well too.

I hear that filling a hot water bottle with cold water and put in freezer for a while can help.

There’s no need to worry about it being too warm to sleep in NE Scotland. Though it was particularly warm for here on Monday, (23 deg), by bedtime it wasn’t at all uncomfortable.

I've managed to sleep ok, I keep my bedroom window open..if anyone breaks in they won't take long till they try to escape..
serves them right...I'm not a young thing anymore

Sleep is not happening here.
Sadly.

It's not happening here either .
I often doze off during the early part of the evening and wake up at around three -so I might have a few hours.
I 'm not aware of sleeping through -various programmes were on and I watched snatches of them.
That means a horrible day on Friday .
I have lots to do and I doubt if I'll have any energy nor enthusiasm.

It carches up with me, usually with a splitting headache by the next afternoon.
I thnk the headache is early, because I'm just taking some painkilers now.

I live in a first floor flat and dread this weather. The hallway has no windows as our front door is downstairs (self contained) and the rooms all lead from it. None of the rooms have windows in the right place to create a through breeze if the doors are left open. The temperature in the hallway hit 31 on Tuesday and has only gone down to 27 this morning. It doesn't help that the cat is an indoor cat and my daughter is scared that if the windows are opened more than an inch, it'll get out. This week, as you can imagine, has been like living in the bowels of hell! I've been 'persuading' the cat into another room after the sun has gone down so I can throw the windows fully open in the lounge, at least for an hour or so and walking the dog at sunset with him grumbling all the way. (He's like me - hates the heat!)

Conversely, in winter, the bedrooms freeze and are impossible to heat...

Whoever designed this place should be made to spend a week in it in this heat and another in winter.

Glad to hear I’m not alone, FYI Lidl has an airblade fan on the middle aisle this week.

I find myself humming along with noisy, clunky fans.
A regular squeak and a thunk becomes an endless night of "we will rock you" in my head.
