Disappearing contributers

Many posters enjoy the N and P boards, people who want to avoid them are absolutely free to avoid and find other bits of gransnet to avoid. Allira, like many of us, enjoyed N and P and other posts

I’d hoped when i checked in this morning that some progress in reinstating our friend Allira may be in progress, it seems not

Come on gransnet. Please reinstate Allira. This feels like an injustice. It does gransnet no favours to have its community united (unusual) in opppsition to what is universally seen as unfair, unjust and simply wrong

I think that will patently obvious to most.

You have grouped people into 'Starmer fans' and non-Starmer fans', and implied that the former are nasty people who stoop low, as well as saying that 'non-Starmer fans' would never do that. Of course that's offensive, and I don't think for a minute that it wasn't intended to be.

Passing the buck to Oreo doesn't diminish any of that, but never mind, I don't want to divert the thread too far off its subject.

I actually find your remark offensive about me trying to pass the buck to Oreo. I would never do that and I am pretty sure she would not see it as that either.

We are back to ‘some people’ again, which does not help Allira, as nobody should be saying what they think she thinks. Let’s hope she, and we, receive some good news about her being reinstated tomorrow, so she can speak up for herself again.

It seems we all have opinions and some share their advice and opinions strongly. I'll not understand the need to delete comments when if the comment stands it's there for all to see.

This is how I feel as well.
I dip in and out of the threads when time allows and have very often completely missed an "event."

Casdon you often use this phrase “some people” when referring to my posts. Why do you do this? I honestly don’t know. I don’t think I said it on this thread but if I have and it offends you then I apologise.

PS. nobody wants Allira back more than me.

I've never reported anyone but I'm glad people report those posts that go off-topic to promote some random product or service.

That’s it in a nutshell - people will continue to report anonymously as long as more direct approaches are met with obfuscation and dissembling. The difference is that when that happens readers can see what has happened and judge for themselves, but not everyone is comfortable knowing that speaking out will lead to ‘unpleasantness’.

As (I assume) the posts that led to Allira’s banning were deleted, we aren’t in a position to do so, which is why we are asking for more transparency - both so that we understand what has happened (and Allira might be reinstated if there has been a misunderstanding), and so that this sort of thing can be avoided in future.

But to be honest if you have got someone calling you a right wing bigot what is the correct response to that, it is unhinged.

At face value I agree, but without seeing the comment in context it’s impossible to know what to think.

I made a comment about drivers of red Volvos upthread. I assumed it was obvious that it was entirely in jest, but as we’ve seen on this very thread, words can be (and are) twisted from time to time.

Sorry - posted too soon. I meant to reiterate (again) that this is why I am not a fan of deletions. I think we should be able to see how arguments develop and how they are resolved.

Hopefully GNHQ will get back to update us today. I think we need some clarity about banning as I think some of us may be more tentative about posting now.
