Weather affecting your mood

I'm sitting here looking at the sky which is dark and foreboding. It always depresses me. I feel the pressure above my eyes and in my ears. My legs ache and my hands too. Does anyone else feel the effects of the weather?

The weathere here in Central Scotland is supposed to reach 22 degrees on Saturday. I hope the sunshine lifts this depressing mood . It's hard to believe that the longest day is in 4 weeks time as another poster said!

All I do is cough in wet weather ..

Wyllow3 Mon 18-May-26 23:19:00

its getting warmer at the weekend then there are some sunny days up to 25 degrees in a weeks time(North of England) but as its an area of hight pressure we should all be able to enjoy.

what can I cancel to go out and enjoy the lovely countryside near me (along with half the city's retired population)

Just think it will be the longest day in a little over 4 weeks.

Spring this year has been dismal Grey, overcast and very cold.
And very depresssing.

April was sunny and hot at times.
We're getting April showers in May.

It’s been bright and sunny here (Perth).

It's rained and rained today and the forecast is for heavy showers tomorrow, but at least the garden beds and the pots have had a good soaking before the warmer weather arrives later in the week!

Then we'll be saying how hot it is 🌞

I've had to use a microwaveable wheatie a lot this last week and even put the heating on one day which I can ill afford. However I'll put up with a bit of cold in May if I get a dry week for my camping trip at the end of July! At the very least a dry last night so I don't have to pack up a wet tent!

I thought I was the only one Merlotgran

Always, last year was wonderful. This is getting me down too.

Think that the weather definitely affects the mood. I live in Scotland and in our area we have had cold biting winds and rain and it makes me absolutely fed up! What a difference it makes to be able to sit outside with a cuppa and enjoy listening to the birds and feeling a bit of heat on the old bones.

Rain depresses me, and as I had rheumatic fever as a child often gives me various aches and pains.

A brewing thunderstorm gives me headaches - always has, and on the few occasions I have experienced the approach of an earthquake or tremor, I have felt, or even been, violently sick.

On the other hand, hoar frost and snow delight me, as does sunshine.

merlotgran I put my heated blanket on, occasionally and feel quite "old" doing so.. but it helps me. o.k. I have a problem with getting old.

yes, the heavy grey clouds affect my mood. ugh!

MissAdventure

The heat makes me irritable.
I can't bear it.

I get a headache when a storm's brewing, too

I can always tell when a storm us brewing, even before there are no real signs.
I get a headache too.

I want a summer around 25 degrees with rain at night please.
Me too, Wyllow
Hot weather makes me lethargic and I don't like the cold.

Just like Goldilocks, it has to be just right.

polomint Sun 17-May-26 22:32:15

I think if you have athritis that damp weather can make legs and fingers ache. Actually when it is raining they are not so painful. I know weather has an effect on ailments but I was more interested in whether it affects your moods. I know sunny days can make us feel happy, but no one mentions how a dull, overcast day can bring you down a bit, make you feel lethargic, a bit sad, depressing thought and a feeling of impending doom. I've always had a degree of this but as im getting older, I feel the feeling are getting worse

I was visiting a castle today and needed a hot chocolate (only to warm my up my hands of coursegrin) and the wind whipped the cream clean off!

I do get fed up being soaked on my walk and having to dry off when I get home. My hands were freezing today too. Wet and cold does affect my mood.

SueDonim Sun 17-May-26 13:38:54

Basgetti I was in Perth from about midday - it was a whole 12 degrees according to my car temp. Maybe there’s a (temperature) distance between two Inches!! wink grin

nanna8 Sun 17-May-26 02:20:15

All depends where you are We have had gorgeous weather for a while now, bright sun and about 25C but today it is raining and we certainly needed the wet - so I am rejoicing along with my lovely plants in the garden. Not the two pussy cats, though, they hate the rain.

Wyllow3 Sun 17-May-26 00:50:48

I have a HWB all year round unless it's really so hot I cant bear it. I always have.

I suppose its like hanging on to a comfort blanket kept for years ☺️

I want a summer around 25 degrees with rain at night please.

Basgetti Sat 16-May-26 23:09:43

SueDonim

I’m about to do a HWB to go to bed. It’s been so cold here in Scotland for weeks now. 2 deg last night!

Where are you? Fabulous in Perth today.

keepingquiet Sat 16-May-26 22:57:48

Maybe not my mood but certainly the weather impacts on me physically. Despite the cold the pollen count is still high and my ears and throat are still sore.
I never used to be like this so think it is an age thing...

JenniferEccles Sat 16-May-26 22:56:36

I have been delighted to see the dark clouds this afternoon followed by rain.
Here in the south we most definitely need it, although we didn’t have anywhere near enough so I’m hoping for more before the weather warms up next week.

I don’t think weather affects my mood, although of all scenarios, I really struggle with prolonged heatwave such as those we’ve had over the past few summers.
