More signs of spring….

My frog spawn is hatching! The fish are lying in wait for the poor little tadpoles.

I have snakeshead fritillaries coming up apace on my rockery. They herald spring for me. Delphiniums and Dutchman’s breeches are coming through too. Lots of blackthorn blossom in the hedgerows, and hazel catkins.

Yes, masses of blackthorn blossom here, too! Gorgeous!

watermeadow, as a child I remember thinking it’d be nice to put a few tadpoles in my aquarium with my goldfish. Within a minute I saw one of them happily wiggling along - right up to a goldfish! Gulp! 😰
Talk about learning the hard way that goldfish don’t just eat dried fish food!

My forsythia and rosemary are in bud and all my spring flowers are starting to spring

Our garden is awash with camellias. White, red and pink. Absolutely beautiful.
The magnolia is coming out and our tulip tree has buds. It is usually the last to bud and the first to lose its leaves ,

All the bluebell greenery is well on it's way in our nearby woods.

I've wonderful hellebores and cyclamen, tete-a-tete daffodils, grape hyacinths, crocus [going over now] and tulips nearly ready to open.

The dawn chorus is so loud it wakes me up.

Sounds to me as if all you ladies live very far south in England.

I live in the south of Denmark, and here we only have snowdrops and crocuses blooming, although I have just noticed the pussy willows are out in my neighbour's garden. I don't have any.

I do have hawthorns, but they will not even think about budding for a month yet.

My pear trees, growing in a pot in a fairly sheltered spot, are about to burst into blossom.

My mallard ducks have arrived on the garden pond as they do every spring. The moorhens are trotting up and down the garden. Last year we had five chicks so hopefully some more this year! Primroses, daffodils are looking lovely. The hellebores I have picked for the house are gorgeous and the birds are singing. I love spring!

I'm in the North of England but stuff still seems to have come up earlier this year !

Denmark sounds lovely, my son and family visited last year and loved it.

Gorgeous.

Magnolias round here are just coming out today, blue sky to go with them, such a beautiful sight. Hope the blossoms & bulbs don't get ruined in the gales that are forecast.
A less welcome sign of spring, is the jackdaws trying to nest in our chimney stack.

Our wonderful village society planted daffodils and crocus on just about every spare piece of grass in the village over a period of about five years. They are now all in flower and look brilliant.

My forsythia is gloriously yellow. The daffodils and crocus are out and my neighbour’s snowdrops are lovely.
It’s still too cold for the tortoise though.

On my walks with the dog, I see splashes of white blackthorn blossoms amongst the otherwise bare trees. Yesterday I passed a small patch of bright yellow celandines, that cheered me up immensely. The bumble bees are coming out of hibernation too, as are the ladybirds that overwinter around the edges of the stained glass windows of the village church. Such hopeful signs

The plum tree in my neighbour’s garden is suddenly in full bloom this morning having only been able to see a few buds yesterday and the fig tree nearest the house is showing new growth. In my own garden everything is later than usual as until the last week there have been layers of cloud and very cold winds.
