Yes, it’s been a long, damp, cold and grey winter and it would be lovely to see some sunshine and feel a bit more warmth, but of course, it still is winter even though we can see signs of spring with the snowdrops, crocuses and some daffodils starting to come out. As Jennifer says, we had a very dry spring and long dry summer last year, with the reservoirs at dangerously low levels and hosepipe bans in many places, so we really needed our winter to be fairly wet. It’s just that it seems unceasing, and some poor souls have suffered from dreadful flooding once more, that we need things to dry up a bit now.
