Good morning Mick a year! So pleased that you are so much better.
It’s a sunny but cold day here this morning, I planted the empty pots up last evening and they brighten up some corners.

Dog day today, so a walk this afternoon, not much else happening here.

Good morning from a very cloudy Black Country, where it was very sunny an hour ago!

Finish off the packing today, then over to Mum's to take her food shopping, so she is stocked up whilst we are away. She is finding the 10 minute walk to the supermarket a bit much now. Brother and SIL will pop over at some point, but he now has Covid so probably be end of week.

The last of the laundry to process before lunch at our favourite garden centre. Not much else today, I’ve woken with a thumping headache and little energy. Must need a holiday . Our roses have suffered while we were away, the wind the culprit. A lot more buds to open though so not too sad.

That year has whizzed past mick, a relief to hear you are so much improved.

Today I’ve tomato plants to stake up, more washing to do (there’s only two of us for goodness sake)! Meat draw in our local later and roast chicken for dinner.

Good morning everyone from a breezy and grey looking south Manchester. I’m sure rain will follow soon. We are off to M&S Food Hall mid morning as my stepfather’s fridge and freezer need a substantial top up. After that whilst in his neck of the woods we will call in for a cuppa with old neighbours who are firm friends. She is going in for her 2nd TKR next Friday and is dreading it, poor woman after a less than successful first one.

Yesterday we visited a NT garden in Oxfordshire where they had a sculpture exhibition Two years ago we bought a lovely metal heron who sits happily in our small walled patio garden. I told DH that I was looking for a geckho for the wall. I didn’t want a large coloured one but a small dark one. We found nothing in the exhibition and then DH produced exactly what I wanted from his backpack. 😳 He had found it in a charity shop for a fiver. I will take a photo of Gerry the geckho later and post it on here. He may not be to everyone’s taste but we like him.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 10°C.

It is good to hear you so upbeat, Mick.

Yesterday turned out to be such an enjoyable day. I went to the farm shop in a nearby village wth DH,DD and SIL to buy cheese, had the most delicious fruit scone and clotted cream with proper tea in their tearoom, followed by my granddaughter's ballet show in the village hall. She was of course, the star of the show! 😉

To my surprise, I bumped into some of my neighbours, my daughter's neighbours and an ex colleague, whom I hadn't seen for over fifteen years.
The strangest thing was that none of us live in this village.
However, the hall was extremely warm and humid and I couldn't stop coughing. I had my first asthma attack in months, I had forgotten how unpleasant it could be.
Later I went to the Saturday Vigil Mass, where I coughed non stop!

I should have started my new treatment today, but once again it has been postponed, as still have a bit of a chest infection. I am considering contacting the hospital tomorrow for advice.
Today, we will once again be contacting Virgin Media for an update, three weeks of no access to my èmails. I am not holding my breath.
I tried to change my GN contact details, to no avail. HQ haven't bothered to respond to my request for help.😡

Good morning Mick and everyone from cool, grey and windy Carlisle. I am beginning to despair of ever seeing a proper summer this year.
Good news on your health front Mick, long may it continue.

Yesterday I went into town instead of Sainsbury's as I had my repaired mantel clock to collect. After a quarter of a century, its quartz movement had failed. I'd taken into the upmarket jewellers where we'd bought it. In those days, the place was full of lovely clocks, now, they've gone and the shop is awash with diamond jewellery and expensive watches. Apparently, clocks are no longer the thing, younger folk prefer their fitness watches. Well, I have one too but when I'm lounging about in my sitting room, I find it's the clock I keep glancing at. It's been driving me mad all week, looking up for the time only to find an empty space!
I came home to have a long phone chat with my sister and then an afternoon of admin and reading plus cleaning the bird s**t off my poor car. It's a bombing alley out there at this time of year. I've had to sort out my car insurance. Yes, it's gone up again so I did some comparisons and found I might as well stick with the current firm unless I move to one I know nothing about.

Today will be a quiet one, I'm going to read mostly. I ought to go for a walk and toughen up my aging bones, but will I?!

Morning from South Lanarkshire, I’ve just written a long involved post which has promptly disappeared so I’ll just say I’m glad to read about your health improvement Mick and send good wishes to everyone.
I have managed to read every day but this incident just sums up my week!

Off to mass soon where I’ll remember you all.

We saw that replica Spanish galleon years ago (pre Covid) when it was docked in Málaga port Liberty. Weren’t the cabins tiny and the beds short? Good nutrition over generations have turned us into much bigger people!

Good morning everyone. A sunny Sunday here on Severnside.

I had a good few hours in the garden yesterday weeding and tidying up in what I call my wood (5trees). I also sat about a lot looking and reading. I have the attachment on the bubble pond that forces the water into a mushroom shape which looks so pretty dancing about when there is a breeze. I’m also pleased my peonies still look good. I remembered to stake them up so they wouldn’t flop when it rains.

I’ll mow the lawn and do some washing this morning and potter on the rest of the day. Smoked haddock for later

Good morning from N Bucks where there’s 🌞 for now, but it may not last!
I got a new gardener on Friday who put in a full day of clearing, cutting back, even removing, and really made a difference. It is a pleasure to look out on to it as I come downstairs now. He’s coming every 2 weeks from now on but just for a couple of hours and I feel relieved as I love sitting out and having friends to lunch in the garden and I was ashamed of how overgrown bits had become.
I’m listening to yesterdays readings of “1984” on BBC Sounds with my TIB - oh my goodness, Orwell was spot on prophetic. 😟
Zonked and aching from yesterdays trip to London- I had to stand all the way there in the train which I dreaded but actually turned out better than sitting squished knee to knee in a corner of an equally crowded train coming home.
London especially Covent Garden etc was heaving but I loved “Spirited Away” at the Coliseum and our huge (19) family lunch beforehand.
I wish these days didn’t take so much out of me afterwards - could it be age?

Urmstongran the information on board the galleon said it sailed with a crew of 150 who each had individual space of 1.8sq feet each!

DH said he wondered whether the crew number was at the beginning or end of each voyage given illnesses which must have been rampant on board. As you say,their nutrition must have been poor and living conditions harsh…how privileged are we,at least in this country,to have,for most people,a better standard of living.

Good morning from a dull, overcast, damp, windy & decidedly cool Sefton. This appears to be the norm these days. Pleased to hear that some of you are experiencing a hint of summer. The sun struggles out here in the early evening - whatever happened to 'flaming June'? We had a successful trip out yesterday & actually found an open bank. DH has been persuaded to try telephone banking. A visit to the farm shop this morning as the 'lamb man' is visiting. Delicious & reasonably priced local lamb & proper tasting bacon. The downside is we have to queue outside .... he is very popular & its a very exposed area. I will have to & dig out a warm jacket. No plans for the rest of the day.

Very late to wish all a good morning, but here I am after sleeping late after a long wonderful day at Twickenham yesterday!

If you hadn't heard (and I don't expect many are that bothered) my team Northampton Saints won the rugby cup final and are now crowned champions!

It was an amazing atmosphere and Twickenham was like a cauldron, never heard noise like it, and I am hoarse from screaming. We didn't play our best rugby, but we did enough to win and that's what counts.

They are touring the town in an open top bus this afternoon, so I am going down to that, as I did last time we won, 10 years ago ( except last time it was with my dear DH).

Apart from that I shall not do much else today, but recover from the long day yesterday.

A quick morning all from a sunny West Oxfordshire. I’ve been up for hours but my 8-year old granddaughter requires attention!

We are going out for lunch later to a restaurant on the river. Elder son and granddaughter will then drive back to Kew and me and OH will go home.

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 11°C, windy and raining. A whole year Mick, you really have made a remarkable recovery, long may it continue. You lead an active life with bus trips, shopping, theatre trips and so forth, and I admire your determination.

It’s so cold and we’re nearly at the longest day. Whatever has happened to our summer? My summer dresses are still in the wardrobe! I’m enjoying reading about sunny days elsewhere though, and all the gardening, crafts and holidays.

Such beautiful pictures of flowers, plants and grandsons today! I do enjoy seeing all your photos. I don’t do much gardening now, apart from tending my beautiful Albertine rose. I can no longer climb on the wall to prune her, she rambles everywhere and MrB occasionally attempts to kill her, but she’s still going strong. A drastic pruning seems to encourage her and she’s never read any gardening books about flowering on last year’s wood. MrB has lots of cloches and mini greenhouse type things for growing salad crops. We had some homegrown lettuce and tomato with last night’s meal. I need to get him to plant peppers and garlic bulbs next.

What a lovely happy place this thread is today, thank you everyone for sharing your lives with me. You are my window on the world when I can’t get out and about. It’s like spending an hour catching up with friends and does my spirits so much good. It also stops me wallowing in self pity as others are dealing with so much more than little ole me!

It has taken me so long to read the thread and type this reply, I really must get a wiggle on.

Good morning (just about) from a chill dull northwest coast.
Lovely meal with close friend last night in city at one of our favourite restaurants. Business seems worryingly quiet after covid etc. Used the train and it was cancelled going in, meaning I had to phone friend and restaurant and hang about for the next one…

Truly awful night with severe cramp. Shout out loud pain. Started in left foot, then whole leg, swapped to right leg and even my hands and shoulder joined in. Tonic water with quinine and magnesium muscle rub hardly helped. I may see a doc and change my statins to see if that helps. DD arrives later from the south and I should be packing for family holiday on Tuesday but will do it tomorrow.

I’m very late to the parade today, but just wanted to say well done to mick. So pleased that your progress continues to be good. I can hardly believe that it’s a year since your surgery - where has that time gone?

The weather is really very unseasonable today, cold, blustery and with the very occasional spot of rain (mostly sunny though). It’s too chilly to get into the garden, so the few jobs I’ve got waiting will have to wait a bit longer.
