Can we go back and experience the best bits of our lives again. Holding my babies for the first time (again) would be wonderful,

If you could go back in time and to any place, without being seen or influencing matters, what would you like to witness?

As a crafter I’d like to go back to the very first time someone made 2 knitting needles and made a ball of wool and started knitting. Did someone just pick up twigs and yarn and start fiddling around? How did they develop casting on and invent two stitches? Or did aliens land and pass on their knowledge?

What would you like to witness? Could be happy, sad, weird or wonderful?

If aliens landed and passed on their knowledge of knitting, that is definitely something I would like to go back in time to witness. 😁

I used to meet a guy every Saturday night in town. I didn’t think he was after anything serious we had great chemistry but he wasn’t always there and I ended up meeting my hubby after I married I was out with friends and saw his friends who said he was gutted about us. I never went to town again. We moved away no mobile phone in them days. I’m now divorced but started to think what could have been. 36yrs have passed I hope he met someone who made him happy. If not who knows who is round that corner lol

To the Tower of London on the day The Princes disappeared to see what actually happened to them

My mum and dad were married in 1941. Dad was in the Royal Signals and got three days off. After their brief honeymoon, they didn’t see each other until the end of the war! They arranged to meet up in a hotel, as they didn’t have a home - mum had been living with my grandparents during the war. Mum told me how nervous she was, made worse by not recognising him because he was so thin and - she said - yellow! (Apparently from the anti-malaria drugs). I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall, as well as seeing them when they were both still in their twenties! I didn’t come along for another 10 years.

I’d like to go back to my late teens, early twenties and know what I know now but also to make the most of those happy carefree times I now realise were the most happiest of my life when I was in love and my parents were still alive and together.

I was 3 when my father died so I’ve no memories of him, but I’d like the opportunity to sit and talk to him

The premise is that you can't be seen or influence anything so, sadly, I don't think you can talk to him.
What a pity.
I have people in my family I'd like to have talked to as well.

... and simple things I might like to have done differently - not actually things that change anything - but I do remember an occasion when I was grumpy 50+ years ago as a teenager when there was really no need to be!

I would also like to ask Elizabeth I why she never married. I suspect it would be similar to my own feelings about bearing children.

No, I don't believe Richard III had those children killed either, I suspect someone trying to curry favour with Henry VII did.

I have always suspected that Elizabeth Tudor having grown up knowing that her father had her mother executed and then experiencing the same thing happening to her cousin, Catherine Howard, was not prepared to place herself in the power of any man, and considering how royal marriages were made then, she had precious little chance of forming an opinion herself of a putative husband.

Forgot to add that if I could go back as an unseen visitor, I would got to my great-grandparents' home in Leith to see my beloved great-uncle playing with his twin brother who died in France in 1917 and my grannie as a girl.

Id love to stand with Mary outside the tomb and see Jesus when she thought He was the gardener.......

I would like to go back to Berlin and watch the wall come down. A momentous time!

I'd like to go back to when my father was alive and be able to talk to him about his mother. His mother died when he was 14 and away at boarding school. He never spoke of her. After my father died my mother told me he would never mention anything about his mother, not even her name. I only learned her name after both my parents died and after much research to track down her grave. I would have liked to have given my daughter her name.

Knowing what I know now I would like to go back to my very fraught childhood and work out what was going on and perhaps be a bit more understanding of my mother in particular. The older I get the more I puzzle about it.

Although I could now go to Spain. being retired but not to a Spain that I loved. I would love to re place a teenage year when I did an exchange visit to Spain for six months, at a time when I would call Spain was Spain in 1966 I didn’t meet any other English girls in the country and every day I spent lying on a quiet tiny beach with 2 German girls and one from the USA. So much for learning Spanish!

When I'm walking round my medieval city centre I often wonder what it would be like to have someone from 500 years ago alongside me and see their amazement at the twentieth century.

Sometimes my afternoon walks take me within sight of the house I lived in until my father died in my teens and my mother and I moved in with my grandparents because the house belonged to the organisation my father worked for. It was a lovely house, even if freezing cold in the winters of the 1950s and 1960s. I see it across a couple of fields (it was detached in large grounds), it's empty now, and I look back to coming home from school in the winter and the coal fire in the living room and a cup of tea with my mother. It felt so secure.

I would go back to the night my lovely Dad died and have been sitting at his bedside when he passed. I had been at his bedside all day but, as his breathing was regular, I left the room for 30 mins to have a bite to eat. My son and dil arrived and chatted for a few minutes and went into see Dad and he had gone. The nurse told me that morning that she felt Dad was holding on for me and that she was sure he would slip away quietly when he knew I wasn't on my own. When she arrived at the house a few minutes after my son arrived (she lived nearby) she said again she was sure he had waited till my son arrived. I do wish I had been there as he was an amazing Dad and a tower of strength when my husband died very suddenly.

I would dearly love to witness my parents wedding day, I have seen photographs naturally but to actually see them get married would be wonderful.

The town where I live was badly bombed during WW2 and very few of the old buildings were left. I would just like to wander around the town as it was pre-war. Alternatively I would go back even further in time, to when there was a castle here.

I wouldn’t blame Elizabeth I if she had fears about marriage. Knowing that your mother and stepmother were killed by your father is enough to give anyone about associations with the idea. Plus maybe she didn’t want to share her power with a husband.
