Wedding guest outfit

I have the opposite problem. I'm 66 and 6 foot tall .
I'm currently a 16-18 and need to lose about 3 stone before my equally tall but size 8 daughter gets married next year.
I know I will never be a slim as her but I am endeavouring to stop myself resembling a barn door next to her on the photos.
As Mother of the Bride I want to look really nice but , like OP I have a flat chest and big hips. I am also" blessed " with the family Bingo wings.
Most dresses have waists that only reach my ribs and sleeves that are far too short. Everything is out of proportion for me .
Does anyone else tall have any good ideas .
Please don't say " Long Tall Sally " ... how I hate that shop . I hate their style, their quality and the fact that everyone seems to think us tall ladies are catered for by LTS .
I wonder how everyone else would feel if they were told " you're ok , you can go to M&S " and no where else ?

What's your budget? I must admit to having spent vastly more than I have ever done before for my son's (only child's) wedding but hesitate to forward the details of the boutique (in London but they also sell online, however are mega expensive so you may not want to know).

Why not think about what material/ pattern / style you would like and then find a dressmaker to run it up for you.
There are soooo many beautiful materials on line.

Marks and Spencer are starting a wedding range also you can hire outfits there it's worth a look.

My first place would be to look at some charity shops! If you look around there can be some really interesting outfits that might be worth a look. You might find a lovely fascinator or hat that will inspire you for an outfit.You never know what you might find. for a start you can try one or two things on and decide if that is the sort of thing you want to wear and it might at least give you an idea of where you might go. Then I would be talking to friends about what they wore in a similar situation, they may have some great ideas about a local shop or place you might try. I have a classic shirt , long length in pure silk with a collar and cuffs and in a kingfisher blue. I wear it with a pair of simple black elasticated velvet trousers. it always looks good and if I dont know what sort of things people are going to wear, I know that I shall feel ok , not the latest fashion but not going to stick out! If you look for something now you will be able to wear whatever you find for a couple of times in the house so that you are used to them and feel comfortable before you go to the wedding. Unless money really is no objet, I'd go for Roman too, or maybe have a look online at Esprit if you're confident with fit etc without trying on? Beautiful cotton/natural fabrics with multitudinous styles and genres.or......do try and get a look at Alexa too you can wear anytime but look special!

Wallis are online and have some very stylish dresses. I always go for their petite range because I have small shoulders. Another brand are Roman who are also online. They have petite dresses and wedding outfits for women who like fashionable clothing. I always order a couple of sizes to try on and return what doesn't fit. Look at the ratings to see what people say about the fit and quality. Good luck.

I would also say comfy trousers and a glam top. Don't forget your hair, jewelry and a manicure too. Often as important as your outfit.

I'd like to give another vote for a John Lewis personal shopper as I did exactly that last week and came home with the ideal dress and coat. It was a really pleasant exercise and the shopper was endlessly patient. For what it is worth, I now have a lovely just-below-the-knee dress with 3/4 sleeves in a white, black and green print to wear with black tights and little black ankle boots, and a warm coat in an exactly matching green. I wouldn't have looked at these on the rail, but the shopper knew exactly what she was doing!

I got an outfit from something Infantino for my daughters wedding a couple of years ago . It was more than I’ve over spend on an outfit but I felt fab lol. So what the hell

I find Hobbs do a good range of outfits,they also have a petite range.

If you would only wear it once foe a wedding why not look on ebay.
When I worked as a PA for a disabled person and went on a cruise with them I bought a whole wardrobe of cruise wear/ posh clothes from ebay for a fraction of the retail price. Sold the lot on there afterwards and got most of my money back. Put wedding cruise mother of the bride in the search to see suitable outfits
