Is this a record? Caution, the C-word!

I read about a pub that has it's tree and decs up. I believe they did it in July last year too.
I've had e-mails from The Works advertising their Ch****mas merchandise

I was faced with 2 pages when I opened our weekly rag last week, one page was dedicated to C'mas day bookings while the other page was New Year.
It really dampened my enthusiasm for the rest of the day.

The santa visit to Lapland has been advertised all year so far.

Are the paper cups and plates shiny on the outside because that means they are plasticised paper?

I have had two charity c'mas card catologues already!

Very depressing, but as soon as the children go back to school we seem to be on countdown to Christmas, stopping briefly for Halloween and Bonfire night!

I thought the title referred to a rude word! On second thoughts, perhaps it IS rude to mention it in July!

Ridiculous! It gets earlier each year. I think there's enough pressure on people with children, as it is, without starting to sell Christmas things in July!

Really Witzend! You shouldn't have been allowed to use language like the C word until October at the earliest.

Must say I am glad to live in a country where all adverts aimed at children are not allowed, and neither are loan shark adverts, and ambulance chasers. But GC are in the UK and bombarded constantly with such adverts- starting anytime before October (and even then ... ) is just mad.

If youre crafty it is time to start home made gifts. And the edibles/drinkable s that need time to mature will need to be started soon too.

Military post for christmas has a much earlier deadline than you would think too.

And a lot of people like to spread the cost.

My life is galloping by quickly enough without Christmas in July.

I heard on the radio today that Selfridges in Oxford Street has opened its C-word shop already ?

I live c but like it nearer December! I work with children and we have made a pact not to start c activities till last week in November!!

I went into a pound shop yesterday and they had C stuff on display.

The argument seems to be that people on low incomes need to budget, I understand that, but why not just put money aside, any time I’ve bought anything well in advance of the big day, the recipient have changed their mind, so I have to get something else as well, false economy.

It's a shame Christmas, two days out of the year is such a hoo ha here in Britain, I would much prefer the European approach with more focus on the religious significance instead of the horrible consumer fest that it's become.

If you have children in your family, there’s no avoiding it I’m afraid, but I think it would be nicer to celebrate the winter solstice.

I also quite like the American tradition of thanksgiving, it seems to mean something, without all of the commercialism
